LynUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2016.39
by: eiszeit [More]

LynUI

Actually currently in development. So... just wait.

This is my personal UI, you can, however, suggest or report bugs on Github.
But beware, it is not guaranteed I will implement new features I personally not use or need.

Also, the config of this UI is Lua based, so you need some small basic knowledge if you want to change things.

Important Information
  • I will try to help with errors and simple modifications.
  • I will not help with greater modifications or custom edits.
  • It's not allowed to upload and/or distribute modified versions of my UI without my permission. Doesn't matter if it's an old layout or the current.

Additional links

My thanks especially go to Obble, for his help and everything.
Credits go to p3lim and all the authors which Addons I'm using in this UI and u/sammojo for the icons used in the menu. Thanks!

Yes, I realize that. Guess i'll live with the workaround of putting unused spells/macros there.

This is by design, yes.

To change that, go to rButtonTemplate_Lyn -> theme.lua -> line 139

Love the sleek minimalistic UI Lyn. However, i would like to disable/edit a few things and having trouble finding them in the files.

Where is the settings for the cast bar/personal unit frame untop of the action bars?

Where are the settings for the Target and Target castbar?

Thanks!

Does anything in this UI interact with the name plates? Is there a skin or somesuch? I am trying to use Plater to customize the nameplates, and it seems they are not really reacting to my changes (but when I test it on the Beta without this UI, they work fine).

Other than that, everything is good so far. I had to get another raid UI because the default blizz one was having issues (it would start selecting different targets than I clicked on). This was also why I had to change the nameplates, because they were not always showing up for injured people when I was healing.

Hey eiszeit, how should I go about changing the chat tab font? I wanna use "theboldfont" instead of the current font the tabs are using. But just the tabs, not the actual chat itself. Thank you!

... there is an addon called "LynNameplates".

Thank you once again, eiszeit! I noticed you said you'll be updating a few things because the UI turned out to be not as practical as you thought it would be, and I noticed a few things too. So I'll take the opportunity to give some feedback on what I think would be a nice addition/change, if you don't mind.

1) Because of the position and size of the target frame, bigger mobs/bosses nameplates get overlapped by the target unitframe. Can be troublesome in fights where you have to burst down an add but still need to pay attention to the boss. I solved this by scaling down a bit the size of the Target Frame and moving it up while still maintaining the feel of the UI.

2) Another thing I noticed is that there's no indication of instance difficulty on the minimap. Would be nice to have some form of indicator telling you if you're in a normal/heroic/mythic raid/dungeon. I managed to bring back the default dungeon difficulty indicator, but couldn't figure out how to move it to a corner.

3) Would be great if the player names in the party frames were class colored. As well as 'target of target' and 'focus'. People often refer to others in LFG by their class "hey hunter, why did you need that sword?". I know the tooltips are classcolored so I could just mouseover and memorize what their class is, but class colored names on those frames would be a nice quality of life change.

4) On the subject of frames. While would be nice if the raid frames where skinned just like the party frames, I actually am fond of the Blizzard raid frames and especially the raid manager. But the default look of them just doesn't fit with your UI so I forced the same texture used on the targetframes upon the raid frames as well as skinned the raid manager into a transparent minimalistic look. Fits quite well with the rest of the UI and I think that would be a nice addition to your Interface.

4) I noticed that some relevant mobs have a little quest symbol (yellow exclamation) besides their nameplate, but not all of them. Seems to be only world quest mobs. That's a really neat addition and I wonder if it's possible to generate that quest symbol on mobs you need to kill for a quest you're in. For instance, if I get a quest asking me to kill 5 boars at a certain zone, those boars relevant to the quest would have the yellow exclamation point to the right of their nameplates.

Here's a picture of how my 'still in progress' edit of your UI is looking like:

These are my suggestions/feedback. I'm loving the UI and the support you're providing and hopefully you'll like the points/changes I mentioned.

The whole look of the unit frames (target and player) will change, so that does not matter then.

I already know that. As I stated on the details page of my UI, it's WIP. I have not included everything yet.

Since LFG has only personal loot, it does not matter. Also, I am not changing them. You can do it in your version, if you want.

Raid frames are not yet tested since when I build the UI I couldn't get into the battleground for that. Still on my todo list.

Only named NPCs which are needed for a quest have this exclamation mark. What you want is currently not on my todo, sorry.

Changing a few things

Hey Lyn!

Loving the UI, have a few questions though.

1: How can i enable permanent health text on the target frame? I'd like to be able to see how much health a mob / player have at all times (i tried looking into the code a bit, but i'm not very good at lua).

2: How can i change the damage text? NEVERMIND! I figured it out .

3: Can i enable hotkeys on action bars and disable macro text?

Thanks a lot for the help, really appreciate this UI and the fact that it's immediately setup upon logging into another character, really loving it and can't wait for future updates!
