GW2 UI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.8.4
by: Mortalknight [More]

GW2 UI is a meticulously crafted interface replacement that aims to increase immersion, as well as efficiency, without relying on dependencies.

The entire UI is hand-painted, and hand-coded, to provide the best experience possible for players. Each interface element has been (or will be) rewritten, to provide enhanced functionality as well as improve the user experience, over the default UI.

FEATURES

Hand-painted, dynamic interface art

Clean and user-friendly design

Hand-painted class power icons, with improved animations

Brand new, immersive questing interface

Redesigned and improved inventory interface

Brand new and enhanced quest tracker, complete with tracking compass and boss frames

This UI is designed for players who want a quick-and-easy, plug-and-play interface that returns focus to the game world, not spreadsheets. With version 3.0, we're adding more user customization in the form of modules, which can be toggled on and off at the users' discretion.

Hey I'm back with another addition:

When trying to engage in pet battles, the pet battle combat tab is blindingly bright white with no info. Manually changing the colour back to default/opaque yields the info, but the moment you scroll it reverts right back.

Further, the priority of the GW2 UI elements is such that it overlays everything related to pet battles, and doesn't disappear like it should (like it should in vehicles).

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot. Feedback + couple new-ish requests I had:

Requests
- The quest update text on completion of any criteria is weirdly far up top of the screen. I can't tell if that's a new Blizzard default with the patch, or part of the GW2 UI itself, but I seem to remember it wasn't sandwiched so far up there pre-7.0, and either way it bugs me to have it nearly off screen and so tiny in font. (The latter part I'm pretty sure isn't part of your addon, at least--since I disabled the GW2 UI font because it was too hard for my old eyes to read clearly.)

So if ya'll could give an option to move it somehow so it's lower down and a bit easier to read, that'd be really welcome!

- Ya'll gave the option to not use the GW2 UI cast bar with one of the recent updates, which was nice! I appreciate it, that makes it stop conflicting with my existing HUD. BUT! I completely forgot about the mirror bar/breathing bar/fatigue bar. Can you include toggling that one, too? Thanks. c:

Feedback
- Thank you so much for the tweaks ya'll made so far. They're making this meld far more seamlessly with the few other addons I like to run with, and slowly but surely I'm able to drop some of the extraneous cobbled-together ones.

- I especially love the fix to the health globe so that I can target myself by clicking on it, since I run with my HUD as non-interactable to avoid accidental clicks while moving my mouse around for targeting or moving or other world interactions (but still need a larger than normal visual for my health and power information centered on my screen, which that provides).

- Crossing my fingers for Clique/mouseover interaction on the nameplates and the health globe, next, so I can just nix my HUD altogether! (or: if it's already in, it doesn't seem to be working from my limited testing.)

Hey mate. I already told you of some things over on reddit but just got a few more to add to the list.

Just a few extra's I noticed while playing that would be nice to have

An FPS monitor
A ping monitor (both Realm AND World seperately)
These two things I think could be placed directly above the mini map, I think it would fit in nicely.

A clock. I know you can mouse over the date to see it but I think that's more of an inconvenience in a way personally

Some text needs to be larger or a different font? Example would be when you pickup an object for a quest and it shows in the top center of the screen, for me it just feels not clear to read and I'm not sure if that's because of the size or text, or effects on the text?

The two side bars off to the right it would be nice to be able to disable their background instead of having black squares. Maybe you could even have a third bar that pops up above the health bar between the other two as an optional thing as well? I'm not sure how that would look in action though.

There's no reputation bar, I think your plan now is to have the honor bar replace the EXP bar at 110? So I'm not sure how you would tackle this one but it would be nice.

On that note, I feel like some of the effects on the text can throw off certain things, don't really have an example of this.

I think all of this stuff would be nice optional things you can enable in the settings if you added it. I'm not sure if all your fonts / font sizes are the same or coded in a global setting type, but I think this could be a nice thing to be able to change across the whole UI.

:/ Action Bars

I play 2s, and 3s a lot so I was trying to find a bar fader and resizer that worked with the ui so I could keep my extra bars and everything i tried just ruins the addon. If there was anyway you could add those options in that would be sick but if not i'll just have to deal with the bars the way they are. xD I'm really enjoying the addon so far but thats my only gripe with it.

1) Item-level over the items on the character-screen.
Personally I love it when it says each item's itemelevel, so I know what I'm mainly after when I'm going to upgrade my items.

2) The possibility to edit the quest-tracker. It's pretty big, and there seems to be no way to untrack through the quest-tracker itself, which is very off-putting.

3) Clean minimap-icons. For the most part, when I've downloaded any UI, I really appreciate it when the minimap-icons are square and automaticly stuck\hidden to show only on mouse-over (ShestakUI for example).

Other than that, I think the previous poster pointed out a few bugs as well, but I didn't see what I wrote here mentioned.

Thank you!

Hello! This is a compiled list of issues my roommate and I have encountered in testing ya'lls addon so far, as well as a list of requests we'd like to see implemented in some fashion.

I wanted to preface with: I don't play GW2, just WoW, but I love the clean look of this addon so far. It has a lot of the basics of what I'd want out of a UI. My roommate definitely likes it a lot as well, and they aren't keen on addons or custom UIs.

--

issues encountered
  • for DK: when my roommate clicks on "raise ghoul" it presents a dialogue box popping up. "GW2_UI has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI," with an option to disable or ignore. The only way to summon is to disable and summon and then re-inable.

There weren't any other addons to interfere with this or cause this. I checked on my mage and my warlock to see if it was pet-summoning in general. Neither Summon Water Elemental nor Summon Infernal/Summon Doomguard trigger anything similar. No idea if it's the case with other pet classes--or just something solely tied to the "raise ghoul" spell.

  • (edit: forgot this one) The passenger vehicle icon is squarely in the middle of the Quest Log information, and not able to be moved.

  • There doesn't seem to be any way to target myself unless I use something else outside of the UI to do it (like another addon for a nameplate, or a keybinding).

  • "Focus" nameplate doesn't seem to be working correctly. It displays either a blank/faintly opaque nameplate, or that + the face icon for whoever you last targeted and sticks that way. Clearing focus and refocusing doesn't change this.

  • The fade-out/fade-in for the Mini-Map's buttons is too quick/doesn't stick around long enough. (Actually, this is the same for the Action Bars and the Chat Box.)

WRT the Mini-Map and the Action Bars, it makes trying to move the spells/buttons around very difficult.

For the latter, the buttons fade out entirely in like 1-2 seconds, which isn't always enough time to drag them around to another spot. Then there's a couple seconds of delay/fiddling with wiggling the mouse button around to try and get them to show back up.

For the former, picking spells up to drag them does a similar effect, but at least I can disable that long enough to move spells around.

Additionally: the addon buttons do not follow the square shape of the re-skinned map, but the circle shape of the original map.

  • In the re-skinned Inventory, the glowing outlines for quest items are slightly off-center to the actual item's square/icon.

  • Opening up menus like the Addon Menu doesn't give it priority. I.e. other elements of the UI are displayed over it, particularly when "Move HUD" is toggled on.

  • This doesn't seem compatible at all with broker addons. (Or at least, Bazooka isn't; using both pushes everything out of alignment, and with the inability to move most of the UI elements this results in misaligned action bars, covered character menu, xp/rep bar, etc.)

  • Chat Box does not allow for "ESC" (or some other way, like hitting Enter) to clear the edit/text box (effectively, to cancel it if nothing is entered). It takes a long time for it to fade away on its own. Further: when resizing the window, if you drag it down too far toward the bottom, it begins to resize from the bottom up, instead--which pushes it behind any UI elements that were above it.

(In my case, I prefer to keep Skada directly above my chat window, but for testing this addon, I needed to resize the chat window and move it down further to make room for Skada, so the above resulted.)

  • I'm honestly not sure what "change the Dynamic HUD" option does. When I uncheck it or check it again and reload, nothing seems to change.

requests
  • General:
    - Profiles that save/load across characters. We'd love to save even more time in configuring by just selecting a profile from a list.

    - Some way to target myself; another nameplate, the health globe interactable (especially with mouseover macros or addons like Clique that allow for spell casting on mouseover).

    - The ability to change font size/font type in the config menu itself instead of requiring editing the addon.

No offense meant to the choice made on font! :C We just both have bad eyesight and the default text is quite small and very hard on the eyes. (And personally, I'm just not that good at understanding/trying to edit LUA or files or whatever it is that I'm supposed to be editing. I had to ask for help on that, haha.)

    - Re-skinning all the other windows and UI elements to match, please! (Raid/Party unit frames; Group Finder, Talent Pane, Collections Journal, etc.)

    - Ability to freely adjust all (or at least more) UI elements. Mainly: toggle fade-out/fade-in option for more UI elements. We like this! More, please. The following are elements we're specifically wishing to be able to adjust size and placement and visibility on:

    + Mini-Map
    + Menu Bar
    + Chat Box
    + Player Cast Bar*
    + Right Bar/Right Bar2
    + Pet Action Bar
    + Tooltips**
+ Quest Log + related elements
+ Durability (that little armoured man; I didn't see that show up anywhere during "move HUD" unlocked so I'm assuming it's got some fixed placement somewhere.)

    * It's right in the middle of my screen, and immobile/unable to be toggled on or off, so I'm stuck with it.

The rest of your graphic choices are wonderful! For me personally, I think this is the one piece I don't care much for, since it's in the way. (And: if the Player Cast Bar is being displayed, why is there no separated Target Cast Bar?)

** Some of them occasionally pop up strangely or cover other UI elements, so adjustment would be nice. (This is a request/issue from my roommate.)

  • Nameplates Alignment:
Snap-to function for everything when moving them around.

WRT the pieces that are already movable, it isn't easy to align them. Specifically, the name-plates and targets give the most trouble.

This is mostly an accessibility problem, I think. Snap-to functions are wonderful blessings when your motor control/hand coordination isn't the best.

I also know not everyone likes the snap-to functions available in other addons, so maybe just both. An addon that comes to mind that allows for this is ButtonForge, in which you can hold down the SHIFT key to drag it yourself rather than let it align through clicking and snapping in place.

  • Nameplates adjustments:
    - Blizzard seems to have removed the ability to toggle off the cast-bar for nameplates in the default interface options.

Having the castbar cover the health information isn't ideal.

So the ability to turn them off and to be able to move/disable the other castbars, would be nice. In the meantime, I'm going to likely continue using my other Nameplates HUD.

    - Also: labeling clearly which nameplate is which. It took some time and testing for me to figure out which was target of target, which was focus, which was target, etc.

  • Inventory:
    - I love the re-skinned part of the Inventory, but not the all-in-one aspect of it.

When disabling the re-skinned Inventory, the default bags cover up parts of the UI, and OFC they can't be moved like the GW2 UI version can. They also have the bag icons fixed at the bottom in otherwise empty space I'd like to use for other addons (like placing my raid frames).

Which means I need to choose between default bags that clutter my screen or an all-in-one that interferes with how I like my bags sorted. It'd be nice to have an option for the bags themselves to be similarly re-skinned + movable, but kept separated.

I read that you're working on including things like Bank Inventory, too, for being re-skinned. So, if you please, also keep the above in mind for that.

  • Broker Compatibility
    - My Mini-Map is so cluttered with addon buttons right now, some of which are half-hidden in the corner of the screen until I move them, which clutters it even further to have them all bunched together like that. I can't move the Mini-Map to adjust for it, either.

If not compatibility, then some kind of a baked-in version for GW2 UI would be lovely. Some spot where I can see/place my information, as well as all my configure/addon buttons that normally show up on the Mini-Map.

    - Info like:

    + Durability
    + Gold amount
    + Currency amount
    + FPS/Latency/Addon usage
    + Coordinates
    + Friends/Guild info
    + etc.

general feedback
I genuinely love the concept behind this addon.

It's a gorgeous, polished bit of work. The re-skinning and the simplicity are great compared to a lot of other UIs that I've tried over the years, and the necessity of having so many addons accompanying those UIs in order to do so few things.

I love especially the little graphic details: like the way the Menu Bar at the top of the screen is handled, and those icons on the left-hand side of the Mini-Map for Mail, Garrison, Calendar/Clock, etc.

My roommate and I both particularly like that it's an out-of-the-box kind of deal, but still allows for some limited customisation without being completely intimidating or daunting to puzzle out. At the end of the day, we both want addons that we can tweak a little if we want--or that can just be loaded up from the start and carrying on.

I personally appreciate whoever did the layout. It's got a very familiar feel to it like Diablo-style (which is my only frame of reference since I don't play GW2), and it's a sight better than the default. (I run a small little addon called Gryphon Remover because I can't stand having them there, they take up so much space I could be using for something else; with this addon, I wouldn't need to have that one at all.)

Which leads me to another point I like about this addon: if even a few of the requests above make it in, I can essentially replace my whole arsenal of UI addons and just have one. I'll take one single clean, nice addon over a bunch of cobbled together ones I have to hunt down every patch or expansion when they break (or stop being updated).

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, I apologise for how lengthy it got but ya'll seemed eager for some feedback, and I enjoyed testing it out.
