Plater Nameplates  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v8.2.5.278
by: Tercioo [More]

Plater is a handsome and light addon for nameplates!

Plater and Details! are made by the same author!

Features:
- New nameplates for friendly characters.
- Unlock configs to modify the new personal health bar/power bar in the middle of the screen.
- Allows to change the size of the resource indicators such as the runes for Death Knights.
- Indicates when a npc is an objetive of a quest.
- Highlight detector npcs inside Suramar city.
- Color change by aggro and by player role (tank or dps).
- Dynamic sizing allowing to have two sets of size, one for combat and other out of combat.
- Allows full modification of textures.
- Allows to modify the clickable area of the plate.
- Unlock separate config for each type of unit: Friendly Player, Enemy Player, Friendly Npc, Enemy Npc.
- Show your buffs and debuffs, allowing to black list some of them.

Important: by default the health bar of enemy nameplates has a height 2 pixel when out of combat, but do not be fooled by that, each nameplate has by default 45 pixels of clickable area (vertical) and both the health bar and the clickable area can be modified.

Ok did some testing on other world quest mobs. Looks like it is pulling color that was doing it. it's just slightly inconsistent between mobs. It seems to only show up on quest mobs.

Not even sure what pulling color is really checking against but at least I know I can color it something else then yellow
Pulling color? Plates now have a different color if the mob is a quest objective. If is only showing on quest objetives mobs, this means it is working as intended.
When you attack the quest mob, the aggro management takes place and paint the bar with red.

Now this is the first time I have seen this happen. Outside of this world quest area, mobs were colored properly.

There are some issues with border colors. The plate border color option doesn't seem to do anything. Also, during combat my target's border color is always gray. Sometimes however, the target's gray border blinks on and off and seems to spaz out as I adjust camera.

As a side note, it would also be nice if the target's plate border color was configurable and spacing between the healthbar and debuffs, etc. were adjustable.
The cast bar indeed is a little off, I believe we can add some kind of offset to "fine tuning placement".
Borders are tricky, we need to handle few things before be able to get solid results with them.
The space between the healthbar and debuffs has the same issue than borders, few things has to be implemented before we are able to touch them.

I know it might be good to not show every npc but if that can work as an option to show all npc names, it would be a nice addition.

The images I have here show what I mean. Notice the dalaran citizens as an example and how their names don't show.

The sub title above the bar is weird, perhaps you have the height of the box selection space very high? (like 50 or more), but this need to be address anyway.
Only names indeed ignore trivial npcs, I want to make more options for that tho.

I'm search for an API to give the npc type information (if is merchant / flight master etc), but I dunno if it actually exists tough.

Edit here is an album showing shat I mean. Notice the NPC Applebough's nameplate or name

http://imgur.com/a/QSOyD

This is a strange bug and hopefully an easy fix and not some horrible in game bug. When you enable nameplates for friendly NPC in plater's settings then uncheck enabled, the names above these npcs hide. This is with shift-v enabled for friendly nameplates

At first I thought it just required a reload but that did not fix it. In my interface names option I have all npcs selected so it should show the name with the nameplate disabled.

What I did find that worked was to disable the friendly nameplates (shift-v) and that allowed npc names to show again.

Now the reason I tested this is because I was approaching a flight master but I noticed there was no sub title on the name above the nameplate. So instead of saying this

NPC Name
<Flight Master>

it just said

NPC Name

This could present a problem if you are trying to find a specific NPC and need to know the sub title of that NPC.

At a certain distance friendly NPC names do show but when you come into the draw distance of the nameplates they vanish when you have friendly nameplates on but friendly NPC nameplates not enabled in your settings.

One other strange behavior is that if I do ALT - Z to take a screen shot without my UI the names show up fine.

So is it possible to either show name on friendly NPCs while showing friendly nameplates or if not, is it possible to have that sub title show on nameplates?

Oh and one more thing, you aren't showing those nice Cyrillic and other unicode letters. So when someone has all fancy Russian letters or funky letters it shows as question marks.

Shouldn't be green, probably an issue with the framework, thanks for reporting.
found out you still had it pointing to details. Since I am not running details, it could not find the texture

In the DF lib folder , dropdown.xml

Line 82

Code:
<Backdrop bgFile="Interface\AddOns\Details\images\background" edgeFile="Interface\AddOns\Details\images\border_3" tile="true">
Changing it to

Code:
<Backdrop bgFile="Interface\AddOns\Plater\images\background" edgeFile="Interface\AddOns\Plater\images\border_3" tile="true">
and placing the required image files in the images folder fixes this for me.

Alternately, you could just point to the lib folder and not move the images

Code:
<Backdrop bgFile="Interface\AddOns\Plater\libs\DF\background" edgeFile="Interface\AddOns\Plater\libs\DF\border_3" tile="true">
