the quiz mod we all love to hate is back.
TriviaBot allows the user to host quiz games for other players.
Spamming it in /say in crowded places or /general is probably not a good idea,
but Blizzard's spam prevention actually makes it alot harder to abuse that way currently.
It's a nice and safe pass-time among consenting adults.
Used best in the custom channel, a party with friends or to liven up that "dead" guild chat.
Usage
- /triviabot or /trivia to bring up it's control panel
- then you can use the dropdowns to select among different Question Lists and Categories.
- set the output and customize the intervals, reporting options etc.
Other Commands- /trivia help will list other commands.
- !tb help whispered to a game host will list other whisper commands.
Localization
From version 2.7.0 and later there's no longer a need for fans to scour the source files for strings to modify.
If you want to help translate the interface or output to your language
- Visit the localization page
- Find your language in the list and click the number of untranslated phrases (eg. ruRU)
- Submit your translated terms and they will be included with the addon in a minor update.
Quizzes
With
version 2.8.0 and later TriviaBot
no longer contains pre-packaged Quizzes in the Questions folder.
- Quizzes instead come in the form of separate Load on Demand addons.
- This allows the game to load much faster since the questions aren't loaded until the player selects a quiz from the TriviaBot control panel in-game.
- Gives the addon users the freedom to select the quizzes they want to run based on subject, language etc.
- Allows the community to create and share quizzes easier without having to wait for an addon repackage.
English QuizzesGerman QuizzesA sample addon and basic instructions how to create your own quiz can be found in
TriviaBot\Questions\ subfolder.
With version
2.7.0 and later comes support for an
optional addon for quiz authors:
TriviaBot_QuestionMaker- You can run it standalone to create your own question lists.
- If TriviaBot is also loaded you have the option to send
your currently working list to TriviaBot for testing it "live" before saving it.
When you are done making your question list, press the button to save it.
Look into
World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<youraccount>\SavedVariables\
for the
TriviaBot_QuestionMaker.lua file.
- Zip it up and attach it @Curse or in comment here.
- You can safely delete it afterwards and get working on a new one.
- You can also keep it as the QuestionMaker allows you to load existing sets to correct or add to.
User submitted Question Lists will be checked and if well made packaged as a quiz plugin. (retaining all author information ofc).
More details on usage are available TriviaBot_QuestionMaker page.
