Quest Completist v0.93  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.93
by: ViduusEU [More]

Quest Completist

Enables you to see what quests you have completed, and what ones you still have to do. Supports server query, allowing you to query the blizzard server for all quests you have completed in the past.

Use /qc or /questc to open the main interface, or assign a key binding.

Version 0.93 - Tooltips on Map
This version adds very basic tooltip support for the map when you hover over the new ! icons. I will be adding "proper" tooltips once things are up and running, but the reason i am pushing this version out is because the tooltips will make it much easier for people to report incorrect quest placements or other errors. The tooltip will currently show you the quest Name, ID and NPC. Some quests will show as "NPC ERROR" or "NAME ERROR". I will be working on fixing these so dont worry about them.

If you want to report a quest that is inaccurate, please create a ticket under the type of "TASK" and i will get these fixed. Thankyou for the support on getting the database cleaned up! To create a ticket go here: http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/quest_completist/tickets/

Version 0.90a\0.91 - Native Support for World Map Icons!
Clear your cache or perform a clean add-on install
PLEASE NOTE: The new world map icon feature is still in the early testing stages of development, and there is likely to be some kinks to iron out. Please report any issues you find and i will work to correct them.

  • Quest Completist now supports adding "!" icons to the world map, plotting the positions of quest givers.
  • This feature can be toggled from an option on the Zones menu.
  • Alot of updates for this feature are still in the works, this is the first public testing of it - things might break, so bear with me.
Known issues:
  • FIXED IN 0.91 - Daily quests currently show as yellow "!" on the map, this will be updated to blue ones in a future update.
  • ALL class\race quests are currently showing on the map, but full support has now been added for me to flag quests for specific races and classes. If you notice a quest in your list or on the map which is a class or race specific quest, then please report these to me (Including the quest ID). http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/quest_completist/tickets/
Now that the basis of the add-on is up and running my next major mission is to try and get the class and race data filtered into the database. Please report any incorrectly flagged quests by posting me a ticket on Curse Forge. http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/quest_completist/tickets/
Other updates:
  • Massive changes this version. Complete database restructure - please clear all your caches, remove saved variables from WTF folder, do a clean install of the add-on for best results.
  • Several of the major routines have been cleaned up and re-written to be more efficient and less CPU intensive.
  • Faction, Class and Race checks are now verified via bitwise operations rather than string comparisons, improving performance.
  • The logger has been updated to support the new bitwise checks, so from now on i will only be able to use data collected via v0.90 and up.
  • Other things i have forgot about!
Version 0.86 - Manually Toggle Quest Status!

Update v0.86a: Small update to correct a bug or two that appeared after the latest release. Hopefully server queries should work again without any problems, but let me know if otherwise. Scrolling through quests should now also feel a little more responsive, as it will scroll 2 quests per mouse wheel rotation rather than 1.
  • You can now hold the left shift button while clicking on quests in the add-on frame to toggle their "completed" status on and off. This will finally allow you to flag those annoying breadcrumb quests as complete =)
  • You now only get the update spam once when signing into the game, not every time you hit a loading screen while zoning.
  • Have streamlined sections of the quest-retrieval and filtering code, so this should be more efficent then before.
  • All the code needed to filter quests by class and race has been finished and tested, but i have not enabled it yet, as i still need to fill alot of gaps in the class\race information. Thanks to all who have submitted data or donations. Please keep the data coming, the sooner those class\race gaps are filled the sooner these extra filters will be worth while!

Version 0.85

Quests in Database v0.85 : 7924 (Up from 7695 in v0.84)

Updates this version:
  • Now when you choose to sort by Level, it will first sort by that, then Alphabetically for each block of levels, making things easier to find.
  • The add-on now remembers what filters you had selected - Faction, Completed, etc - and restores the settings each time you play.
  • Daily quests will no long be incorrectly flagged as green and completed, they will stay as a blue "!" on the quest list.
  • Streamlined some of the code to improve performance. More of this to come in future versions.
  • Added a new option to clear the update cache. This is mainly for people that send me data. Once you have sent me a batch of data, the next time you log into the game you can clear the cache, reducing the amount of memory the add-on will use. (But please send me any data you have collected before clearing it)

Version 0.84 - Less Spam & More Sorting

Less spam! Instead of spamming you every time you pick up a quest, it now gives you a single message when you log in, detailing how many updates are currently stored in your SavedVariables files.

There is now an option in the Zones Menu to let you pick if you want to sort the quests by Level or in Alphabetical Order.

Version 0.83

New quests added and also a good chunk more class\race information merged, as well as the zones menu being re-structured slightly to come in line with the "offical" zones list. I know that the spamming has been annoying since the last version, but it is paying off, as i have recieved hundreds of emails with data files in the last week, so please keep them coming! The spamming will go away as the database bulks out.

By version 0.84 the addon will save if you have certain filters switched on or off (i.e hiding completed quests, etc). Have been very busy over Christmas, so haven't had time to add that to this version. Will be trying to get a new version out at least every week if i can manage it, so keep checking back =)

Version 0.82 - Finally some TomTom support!

Version 0.82 is the first version in which i have had time to add some basic TomTom support. Basically click any quest within QC and it will map out a waypoint via TomTom, and update TomTom to show the closest quest based on your current position. I stress that this may not work perfectly - there WILL be problems with it. Bearing in mind this is the first add-on I have developed, i am learning stuff as I go. I will work on perfecting it over the next few updates.

The database is starting to bulk out nicely - at least for Classic and Cata Zones, Outland and Northrend still need work - please keep sending your Saved Variables files reguarly, all the data helps! Although i now have a good bulk of the quests themselves, as well as flagged what ones are Horde and Alliance, but i am still missing alot of Race\Class information for hundreds of quests, so please keep submitting files even if you dont think they will be useful because they will! This version will put a message in your chat window if you pick up a quest and you are a class or race that i dont have on file. If this gets too spammy, i will disable it again.

Please note that for some starting zones there are no quests listed. The data is in the database I just haven't got it linked to the correct categories yet. This will be fixed soon.

How to Contribute

The add-on will record details each time you Accept or Complete a quest, including: NPC Name\ID\GUID, your current zone, your current coordinates, quest name, quest category (As it appears in the quest log), and your faction\race\class.

This information will be stored in the QuestCompletist Saved Variables file located: <World of Warcraft Folder>\WTF\Account\<ACCOUNT NAME>\SavedVariables\QuestCompletist.lua

Please email me your Saved Variables files to: [email protected].

As you continue to quest through the game the add-on will continue to log this information, so even after you have sent me the file once, if you complete more quests after that, please feel free to send me an updated copy!

Thank you

Features
  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the list.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • TomTom Support.
  • Supports server query.
Other Information

Although i have played World of Warcraft from release, this is the first addon i have written, so please bear with me if there are some small bugs. Please let me know if you find any, and i will work to fix them.

Note that this add-on will be updated for Cata. But unfortunately i am not a member of the beta, so i will be working on this once the game is live and when database sites like Wowhead have reliable data for the new quests. Alot of the old quests will likely be removed from the game completely, and many added or changed, so any help from the community would be great. This will take time.

Features in the Works
  • Adding indentation to quests to show they are part of a chain.
  • The ability to manually adjust the status of any quest.
  • Adding race filters as well as class filters.
  • Possibility of segmenting the database into several load on demand sub-addons. I will concider depending on feedback about memory usage.
Any feedback would be great.

@fuzake5262

@fuzake5262

Cheers for the error report. Very odd. The addon is coded to check for the existence of the SV qcSettings before it attempts to use it, and if it doesn't exist it should create it.

For the mean time i would suggest you completely delete the addon folder from the Interface folder, but also delete the addon's game-wide and character-wide Saved Variables files (If you dont know where these are let me know and i will go through it).

After everything has been deleted, install a fresh download of the latest version and when you log into WoW following this it should hopefully correctly reference qcSettings.

While I can move the interface around, and the server query does seem to come back with results (so says the normal text info) the window for the actual addon seems to be blank... I don't know if it is some sort of conflict, but I will see what I can work out...

Edited from spelling.

Fantastic addon. Finally a EveryQuest replacement.

Any hopes for Titan Panel support?

I know this has TomTom support, but does that also include TomTomLite by Cladhaire as well?

I can only assume there is something else preventing you from using the add-on, as you are the only persion so far that has mentioned this problem, and the problem doesn't even make any sense - there is no good reason why you wouldn't be able to interact with the interface.

Very strange.

All I can do is look at it, and see that there are quests listed, but there is no way to tell which one I did, which one I didn't and any other information that the addon is suppose to provide is inaccessible.

I don't know how else to explain that, or how to help you help me, since I don't even fully understand what is going on.
But can you drag the addon around? Can you see tooltips when you hover your mouse over the quests? Can you click the zones button to bring up the zones list? Have you tried performing a server query?

I haven't seen anyone else mention any problems like that, so i am at a bit of a loss as to what could be the problem. Can you provide any more details about your problems?

Also, if you want the add-on to fill in what quests you have already completed in the past, goto the Zones menu and at the bottom there is an option for Server Query.

Oops, forgot to add something...

An idea I had, was it could summarize on logon if there are unknown quests recorded...something like "102 quests have been discovered that Quest Completist didn't know about. Please consider sending me your Saved Variables."
Something similar to this has been implimented as of v0.84.

A quick search in the code and I could see this piece of code.

--[[ Sort the zones quests based on recommended level ]]--
table.sort(qcZoneQuests, function(a, b) return a[4]<b[4] end)

I just changed this line to the following to make it sort on quest name
table.sort(qcZoneQuests, function(a, b) return a[5]<b[5] end)

This makes it a lot easier to find quests that are in a quest chain without reading the same 50 quests over to find the one you want to check

Perhaps give an option somewhere to sort by quest name and what would be useful too is to categorise by quest giver if that is possible. That way you could easily see if there was a single quest giver you seemed to have missed out and not just random misses

If not perhaps it would be allowed for others to access the data to sort it ( for my initial more queried suggestion ) and to perhaps have an alternative display for Quest Giver quests in the area.

For now I'll just make use of my alpha sorted option.
You can now sort by Name from v0.84.

Thank you again.
Hey,

Thanks for the feedback. Also, i know you are not strictly speaking SCOURGE, but strange as it is, this is exactly what Blizzard call undead players in the game. I am only reading your race data directly from the client

I can't for the life of me figure out why this has almost no purpose in game... when from what you describe it as on the info page... it should be of great purpose.
In what way can't you interact with the quests in the add-on? Do you see the tooptips or anything when you hover over any quests? Can you drag the window around and scroll up and down the quest lists?
