Aloft Alpha  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Aloft-5.3.2-alpha3
by: acapela [More]

This is a "development" version of Aloft (the nameplate addon). Please refer to the main page for that addon for a comprehensive description.

This is an ALPHA release. That means it has not had a substantial amount of testing under all circumstances. By installing this version, you are basically agreeing to help test . Please report any/all bugs with this release in the comments section of this WoWInterface addon page.

This version of Aloft is functionally identical to Aloft-5.2.8-2574.

This version of Aloft is updated to work with WoW "6", aka "Warlords of Draenor", currently in beta test. All modules have been enabled, LUA errors fixed (mainly to do with obsolete spell IDs), and all the basics seem to work on the WoW 6.X PTR. There were not many changes required.

I now have Beta access, so am incorporating that into my testing.

This version of Aloft will probably not work on current live realms... there is at least one new spell that doesn't exist there yet (Storm Elemental Totem), plus several that have been removed.

5.3.2-alpha3 (Warlords of Draenor)
- fixed cast bar LUA error and configuration mode update issues
- updated Ace3 to latest/greatest (r1114)[/color]

5.3.1-alpha2 (Warlords of Draenor)
- updated/fixed "Nameplate Glow>Recently Damaged Only" functionality

5.3.0-alpha1 (Warlords of Draenor)
- for WoW 6.X PTR and WoD Beta

5.0.1-2418 (Mists of Pandaria)
- enhanced to cover monk/brewmaster tanking
- added a check to avoid divide-by-zero problems in the stacked points (combo points/etc) module
- fixed some divide-by-zero problems in threat management (the MoP threat system seems to zero out perdiodically, during fights)

5.0.0-2404 (Mists of Pandaria)
- changed GetNumRaidMembers() to GetNumGroupMembers()
- changed GetNumPartyMembers() to GetNumSubgroupMembers()
- changed (MiniMapBattlefieldFrame.status == "active") effectively to (select(IsInInstance(), 2) == "pvp")
- updated Shaman totem manifest and spell IDs
- added Monk class color (0x00ff96), class name, and associated options, to code and documentation
- added Pandaren race short form
- verified crowd control spell IDs, added Shaman "Bind Elemental" to crowd control spell IDs
- combined obsolete PARTY_MEMBERS_CHANGED/RAID_ROSTER_UPDATE events into new GROUP_ROSTER_UPDATE event
- no changes to Aloft related to GetGuildRosterInfo() (Aloft doesn't use all the arguments), or UnitIsGroupLeader() (Aloft previously updated away from deprecated functions)
- no apparent changes related to GetBattlefieldScore()/GetWhoInfo()/GetFriendInfo()

- TODO: add brewmaster tanking characteristics (for nameplate glow control)
- TODO: hunter trap snakes (specifically "Viper"; E/W Plaguelands and Uldum) and (possibly) DK bloodworms now seem to have names in common with some normal NPCs

4.4.9
- updated the cast warning module to detect animation update interval of 0 and use OnUpdate directly, instead of AceTimer-3.0 (seemns marginally faster/smoother)
- updated LibBabble-Faction-3.0 to latest/greatest (4.3-release32)
- updated Ace3 to latest/greatest (r1057)

4.4.2-2308
- merged in zhTW localization contributed by WoWInterface user aa9012456.

unfortunately, no. Blizzard does not initialize nameplates (assign unit name, health bar color, and etc), until they become visible (Blizzard makes them visible and assigns that data in the same operation). therefore, Aloft cannot operate on them (validate the health bar color, check the unit name against a guild list, etc) until they become visible.

often that means that they become visible for a brief instant before Aloft can get control of them, make a decision, and hide them (and at least one game frame will go by before Blizzard acknowledges a hide operation). just an unavoidable side-effect of the way Blizzard manages nameplates.

guild only plates cause flashing plates

Hello,

I have tried Aloft since I was looking for an addon that will show me only guild and friends name plates, so I would spot them easily on BGs and crowded cities.

I have configured Aloft to do so, but encountered an annoying behavior:
Nameplates of friendly players, which are not from my guild, flash/blink for a short period before getting hidden. So, every time I walk or turn around I see those flashing nameplates. If I stand still everything works fine.

btw, the same issue has occurred in Aloft Beta.

Can you fix that?

Thanks!

good to hear.

Blizzard actually does some weird stuff when you disable the target cast bar via "Combat>Cast Bar>On Nameplate". not a case i had ever tested for (you learn something every day ).

Re: castbar spellicon probs

edit: oops, you already did this. i will try reproducing, see what i can see.

edit: verified, stray spell icon, where it shouldn't be (not seeing it in the same place you guys are seeing it, but it is there). also having problems sensing the Blizzard nameplate cast bar option. i will work on all of these things.

aha. Aloft is probably not hiding the Blizzard default target cast bar like it should. i will look into this. thanks for the info.

in the meantime, in addition to disabling all the Aloft modules, also disable your Blizzard standard "Combat>Cast Bars>On Nameplates" interface option, and see if that affects the problem.

Aloft is sensitive to the setting of this Blizzard option, and triggers off the appearance and changes to the Blizzard cast bar... so this should effectively disable the Aloft cast bar "module" as well.

castbar spellicon probs

hello, the problem with the misplaced castbar spellicons is still there.

perhaps iīve made a catch how to reproduce the problem.

i have all of the castbar modules disabled - i donīt want to see a cast bar on nameplates. (disabled in aloft and in blizz ui combat options)

now, if i enable your modules AloftCastWarning and AloftCastWarningSpellIcon the problem seems to be gone. (need to enable both, aloftcastwarning alone didn t do the trick)

i now can see a castbar under my targets nameplate with the spellicon appropriate attached to it. but if the cast is finished, the spellicons hops out way to the left to the wrong possition for SPLITT A SECOND (hardly to catch). then the icon fades as the castbar does too and everythings fine again.

yeah, i could see how that could break (race condition between the cast bar showing and the spell being interrupted). i have it fixed locally, will test and get a new release out sometime tonight or early tommorrow.

if you want to patch it locally, you can replace line 371 of Aloft/AloftCastBar.lua with:
Code:
targetCastEndTime = (et and et / 1000.0) or nil
sorry for the inconvenience.

Release: Aloft-4.2.4-2107

a new release of Aloft is available, pending moderator approval: Aloft-4.2.4-2107.

this has a lot of small enhancements/fixes, incorporating several things i noticed during development. please see the change log for details.

the main functional changes have to do with totem exceptions/coloring (all totems are now included). as well: target cast bar "non-interruptable" shield graphics are registered with SharedMedia at startup (including Blizzard's shield art); you can now create your own artwork for this.

please take another look at your favorite bug (target cast bar spell icon out of place, or whatever), and let me know what you find.

thanks.

i believe i already have this fixed in development (a user reported it via PM), and the fix should be available in the next release.

always pays to make certain, though. i will go double-check.

sorry for useless nonfeedback post

sorry for useless nonfeedback post.

i kinda dont wanna mess up my current settings if i dont have to, but has there been any changes to the "click on nameplate for targeting" yet?.
last time i was meddeling it didnt like changing the orientation of the "clickable area". wich meant in my case i have to click between the bar and the mobs head, imo for prettyness nameplate should be a bit farther from the head, so one can enjoy the animated npc without an "ugly" nameplate attached directly to his head, but still beeing able to clicktarget them with relative ease. and if not is there any hope of this being resolved in the near future or do we have to wait for blizz to add api or whatnot?. cheers.

LUA Error

Hey, just wanted to let you know of an error I get when bringing up friendly name plates. Not sure where exactly to post it. Please let me know if its just my side. thanks.

Side Note: I've having issues with getting Crowd Control Module working with the icon. I have it enabled but when I blind the target or gouge the target no icon comes up.

Again thanks.
