RankWatch will monitor the spells cast by you and other members of your party or raid and warn them if they are using a downranked spell.

While downranked spells were formerly used to save mana, this use is no longer supported, and while it is occasionally intended, the use of downranked spells is generally a mistake. Sometimes this happens when people forget to train at level 80, sometimes it happens when they spend talent points to obtain a spell which is not a base skill for the class (for example, a Death Knight's Frost Strike our Scourge Strike) but fail to train the ranks for the newly talented spell. In my experience, the most common cause is training while dual specced. For example, if you level up as a feral druid, you will train new ranks of Rejuvenation etc, but the new ranks will not appear on your bars when you change to the Resto spec.

There are a few special cases - Life Tap and Health Funnel are not reported, since Life Tap is often used by warlocks to proc the Glyph and stack trinkets, and Health Funnel costs less health at lower ranks. Polymorph is sometimes downranked to control the duration, for example, when a player is mind controlled. Rank 1 Frostbolt is used in pvp for the snare effect since its cast time is shorter. Two different ranks of Flamestrike may be alternated to allow stacking ground DOTs. Occasionally (Anub'arak in ToC for example) healers may down rank to control the amount of healing, I suggest you simply disable the addon for this fight. If you know of other valid uses of downranked spells, please let me know.

You can turn off the auto-whisper, ignore downranks from certain players, get a report of all the downranked spells seen, and of course, disable the addon completely.

After further testing, it seems rank 14 rejuvenation was somehow added to Clique's OOC spell set. That would explain why it was triggering for me, but this is happening to A LOT of druids I've grouped with.

So looks like blizz got whisper working for LFD

While fighting, have a mod spam 3 whispers at you could be rather annoying and lead to some serious nerdrage. It'd probably be better if RankWatch sent something like this; >RankWatch saw Name use Spell Rank 3 instead of Rank 4 (Learnable at level_number). Reply with "rw:info" for more info. And if the player replied with "rw:info" then you could spam back the whole spiel about spells not updating, training, etc. Also, a profile setting would be awesome, so I could set the same options on all my level 80 characters, and a different set of options on my <80 character. Why would you downrank redemption? All ranks cost the same amount of mana and take the same amount of time.

Also;

Is it possible to disable just whispering and still have party/raid/bg chat enabled?

I type /rankwatch none for chatbox only, then /rankwatch party for party but that also enabled whispering again.

I would suggest adding hellfire rank 1 to the exception list, the reason is Muradin's Spyglass:

Each time you deal spell damage to an opponent, you gain 18 spell power for the next 10 sec, stacking up to 10 times.

Although it says opponent, dealing damage to yourself using hellfire apparently also stacks the buff on this trinket. Warlocks will be using it to stack the trinket before combat.

Yeah, and who's gonna complain about someone resurrecting you? You can easily add this to the list of special cases in RankWatch.lua if you want.

On the other hand, to the person who said they keep rank 1 on their bar deliberately, I want to invoke the feature that causes a big hand to come out of their screen and slap them silly.

Knowing a spell is out of date is one thing, being able to tell since how long is another. 2) Well right now with the "/rankwatch whisper all". it's prettymuch binary and there's not much control to it, "/rankwatch whisper -3" or something to the effect would be less annoying. 3) Well currently the report feature is simply unusable... give us some option to where we can output it. (just like the report feature from recount) no need for some UI, a switch would be fine. Dual-spec had the bug since it came out more then a year ago, not holding my breath it will be fixed soon.

Perhaps it could be an option? wouldnt send a whisper since there is a 2 level difference. Ex: RankWatch saw X (level 77) use Y rank 7 (learned at 72) max rank is 8 (learned at 75) would send a whisper because the threshold is greater then 3 Ex: RankWatch saw X (level 79) use Y rank 7 (learned at 72) max rank is 8 (learned at 75) 3) With the new Dungeon Finder tool we get grouped with people from different server and we cant send them a whisper. Could we perhaps Report to the Party chat? or in /say? Anyway I just love it... simple yet Oh soo effective!
