Ardent Defender is an addon designed to help Protection Paladins.
It provides several functions which I found useful as a Tankadin,
and hope someone else finds them useful as well.
Ardent Defender will:

Someone taunting your current target is working for announce in raid and local! Popping Shield Wall and Last Stand are only working for local announce.
Interrupts are only announcing locally, but it is saying I interrupted my targets Shield Bash. Still couldn't get any taunt resists or misses, stupid target dummies! I'll play around with that a bit more when I'm not working. |

I have a day off this weekend so I'll try to work on it then. If you are online on US Lost Isles, you can friend me and maybe you can help me fix the problems. My warrior's name is Molari. Edit: I fixed the problem with announcements to party/raid not working. I don't have another warrior to test the taunt problem with me though, so I'll work on it when I can. Download the update on curseforge and try it out for me.

And I'll see about adding an 'interrupted x' announcement in the next version of tanker. Edit: I just posted a new version of the Tanker beta on Curseforge, it should be ready by the time you read this.. it has the (untested) option of announcing when you interrupt a spellcast. I haven't tested it yet so have at it! -Blind

The add on is great currently, all i would ask for is that it would announce when warrior/dk's use their CD's and taunt misses. I love the parry feature as well as the mod announcing if someone taunted your current target. Would an interupted %t feature be possible?

Yep, I kind of figured that.. and shame on me, because I've noticed the same problem with other addons (not finding the commands).. anyhow.. in the next release I included a 'Quiet mode' button which redirects all (enabled) output to local chat window. Standby will disable the addon entirely, though.
I plan on rewriting the description and such when I actually release 2.0, since there has been so many changes since the original inception of the addon. -Blind

Thanks. Yes, as you noticed, its not immediately obvious that that command exists. Only places its shown are deep within the code and deep within the CHANGELOG from last year.
Long long ago (in a WoW far away), you actually had to search for command line commands, if a mod's README or text on the web site didn't include them. As you couldn't access a mod's options without them (whether or not they had a self-created option panel). Now with the Blizzard options panel, its less important than it used to be. Still, having a one-off command like this when everything else is handled through the Blizzard options panel is somewhat unexpected. For easier access to such commands, there are a few ways to do it. Text on the download description page(s). A README included with the download. Or text in the Blizzard options panel section for the mod. For this specific deal, yes, adding a disable/standby button/checkbox in the current options would definitely make things more convenient for everyone who needs to temporarily disable the mod. |

Actually the feature is already there.. /ad disable or /ad enable, one of the two should work... I am on my iPad and don't have the addon source in front of me but yeah.
I don't think I ever actually tested the feature, but it should work fine. I could add a button to the config screen in 2.0 if that makes it easier? Edit: Actually it's "/ad standby" -Blind

Don't have either class at 80, but will speak up regarding something else .
Have reached 80 on my leveling Paladin. One feature that this is sorely missing that is desperately needed here (and would assume to be of good use to others): a way to easily enable/disable the entire mod without having to relog. In parties, the public announces this gives are great. In raids here, though (with current raid leads), its not something that is wanted to be seen. Thus every time am in a raid, have to go in and manually disable all the party outputs. And then manually enable each of them after the raid is over and I go back to party play. Its a giant PITA. For those running a lot of mods, "well just disable the mod and relog" is not an acceptable option. It takes too much time. And still is a hassle. The option could be something as simple as an on/off checkmark in the options frame (as WhoTaunted has, among others). Or a command line command. Hopefully you will consider this for Ardent Defender beta for Cataclysm (if such a feature isn't included there already), if not on the live version . |

I'm looking for someone to help me out with some Warrior and DK stuff for my new addon, any volunteers? Preferably someone in the Catacylsm beta, but it should work on live as well.
If there was an addon like Ardent Defender for your Warrior/DK, what options would you want? Speak up. |

FYI there is a beta version up on Curseforge (I'll upload a beta version here soon) for Cataclysm.. I have NOT tested it yet, as I am currently working on another project.. but please try it out and post any bugs you find here.
Thanks! -Blind |

Taunt Announce
I've noticed Ardent Defender has been announcing to Raid whenever someone has taunted my target, "X has TAUNTED your target!" even though I have the raid announce off. I really like the feature and use it from time to time, but sometimes I like to turn it off. Also, is there a way to change the "YOUR" in the message to "MY" or to the targets name? Thanking you in advance!
