Tidy Threat  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.8
by: danltiger [More]

Tidy Threat is a simple threat monitor which is simple enough for a novice to understand, yet powerful enough for a Tank.

Simple explanation:
While in combat, the status bar grows upward indicating how "hot" the enemy thinks you are. Causing damage or casting heals will raise that level.

If you reach the mark on the thermometer, the enemy will turn and start hitting YOU. As you continue to attack, the bar can continue to rise into the RED area, indicating the amount of threat that you would need to lose in order to shed the attention of the bad guy.

If you're DPSing: Don't go into the RED!
If you're tanking: Stay in the RED!

More Complex Explanation:
The status bar shows your threat compared to the next-highest threat for the rest of your group. If you are the top threat holder, it will also show how much your threat exceeds the next highest. In other words, if you are tanking and the bar extends above the line, into the red, you've got solid aggro.

No mode changes are required for Tank vs DPS usage; The interface is universal. For additional data, players can enable the Detail Window, which will display real threat numbers.

Type '/ttt' into the chat window to bring up the configuration panel, or right-click the Tidy Threat frame.

No, I haven't... I'll give it a try. Haven't been playing as much recently. I'll report back.

Awesome! Thanx a bunch for the update (and for the addon).

It's really gr8. Don't plan to replace omen with this completely, but it's cool for most situations for fast threat info.

Tested this only a bit with a druid in party, so maybe I missed something...
I would love to see the bar updating on some events:
  • bar shows when some1 else has some aggro on mob besides me - could it show 100% as soon as I pull the mob (if I'm only one on aggro list)?
  • when targeting one mob, and aggro showing OK, if I target another mob, the threat stays unchanged - would be cool if it updated to show threat on the new target (or at least to 0 if more mobs can't be tracked)
  • and also would be cool if it would track aggro when soloing with a pet; I often need to take aggro from pet and other way around

I'm using (trying out) SimpleThreatMeter as well, and it has the behavior as I mentioned here, which is cool imo. Tidy Threat has some more nice features though, so I would love to see those changes (or option to choose).

Just my $0.05.
Otherwise gr8 job!

In the meantime (if you happen to play on non-US servers) you can try two things:

/ttt reset - Which will reset the variables; This may completely solve your problem.

The other thing you can try is clearing your .WTF files.

Hope that helps!
Thx!

Haha, yeah, that might be a little scary; I'll see what I can do about some indicator. :-)

As a side note; To test this, I ended up setting up a dual-box config so I can play on both me and my wife's PTR characters, simultaneously. Kinda makes me want to try it on LIVE servers..

Edit: Finally got to try this in raid last night, and it works great! One request though. I would be useful if tidythreat gave an indication that my mirror images were active. Hammering away on the boss while tidy is glowing bright red at me is scary. I think omen greys out my threat bar when they're up.

Thanks again!

Ok, I should have something for you pretty soon; I copied a premade mage to the PTR... fun!

Nice work though

Re: Getting this error on my druid.

It might be patch v3.1.3.. I wasn't getting those errors on my main, but when I logged into my hunter, I got the same error you did. Resetting my UI worked. I've also modified how "/ttt reset" works, which will flush the old variables; You can use the command even if an error occurs.

I haven't forgotten you guys! Been a little busy updating the other addons that I maintain. I have to rotate my attention each week, given limited development time.
