SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

I'm having trouble getting text to fit within bars.

Only part of the text fits and the rest gets abbreviated by "..."

It seems like the only way I can fit things is if I make the text way too small or the bar width way too big.

Any options I'm missing? Please help!
I'm not sure if this will answer you question but it seems to me that all you need to do is adjust the width of your text margin. You have to have the advanced box checked in the general tab, then browse to the text config that your trying to change on whatever unit and there should be an option to move around the width weight. When I mess with these weights it will make the text width short or longer depending on the width of text. And gets rid of my "...." on some unit frames.

Also in hopes to catch the eye of Shadowed or the new Authors regarding how much WE LOVE Aura Indicators :

Basically it seems some SpellId's are no longer existing, and you have to cut it out. Easy to do if you have BugSack installed. Took me only some minutes.

Question of my own: These Stuff for ICC someone posted... how do I include it? I tried including it in the lua code, but I still only have the "old" aura groups.

Question

I'm having trouble getting text to fit within bars.

Is here any other druid than me having problems with the Eclipse bar included in the SUF player frame? The eclipse bar is there but is not working at all :-) half solar/half lunar all the time.

Am I doing something wrong please? Thank you very much for any response.

I'm trying to set up some text in the bars.

1) Is it possible to put a black outline around the text?

2) Is there a tutorial somewhere for all the text codes? I'm having trouble finding it if there is.

I found a post on Elitist Jerks from back in June 2009 where Shadowed said:
I haven't exposed the option for it, but /script ShadowUF.db.profile.font.extra = "OUTLINE"; ShadowUF.Layout:ReloadAll() should give you what you want, OUTLINE = Thin outline, THICKOUTLINE = Thick outline.
I tried using this script with the current version of SUF on the Beta servers, but got an LUA error. Is there something similar I could do to get the outlines to function? Alternatively, is there any chance this feature could be added?

I tried to use the Dogtag [Outline] tag just now (I know, that's silly) but... it sort of worked? I got an error when I put [Outline] in front of my health text, but when I removed it the outline is still there. Even after reloading my UI. I'm not really sure what's going on.

The glitchy [Outline] trick worked on the Beta servers, but I can't get it to work on live. I really would love to be able to have the text outline functional again.

Okay, I dug a few pages back in comments and found that if you enable the Advanced options, you can toggle thick/thin/no outlines. Basically this huge post of mine is now answered!

disable tanks in raids

awesome addon
got a question: Is it possible to hide tanks in the normal raidframe? I love this feature in the blizzard raidframe - seperating the tanks in a new window. I allready list the tanks in a new window, but they are also shown in the raidframe. Is it possible to hide them there?
And is it possible to limit the players shown in a raid?
For example: I have 3 columns and 10 rows showing max 30 raidmembers. But I would like to have the addon show max 25 - 1st & 2nd column showing each 10 and the 3rd showing 5 players.

Edit: On a future patch will it be possible to sort the raid by role. Also a nice feature of the blizz raidframe

problems with targeting frames

Awesome addon keep up the work

I have 1 one problem though, when i hower with the mouse on the frames it only is highlighted when i have the mouse on some areas of the frame its really weird i cant click the whole area of the portrait ether anything i can do about this ?

Player Portrait Sometimes Fires

Sooo glad this AddOn is being updated.

One tiny issue I'm having - I have the Player unit frame enabled, using portraits, and set to fade when not in combat/active. Every once in a while just the player portrait will be visible - not the entire unit frame, just the portrait, floating by itself (though in the space where it would be if the unit frame were visible).

Not really a big deal, simply targeting myself to bring up the full unit frame and then de-targeting myself to auto-fade everything fixes it, but figured I'd mention.

Thanks for all your work on this! Love these frames.

aura sorting

Hi, this is great addon, absolutely like it.

ATM i am using latest version and I have question if there is way how to set order of auras (buffs/debuffs) at frame. Better give example. Raid boss has 3 times shadow word: pain on him and i would like to see all 3 icons next to each other (right now i can see all icons i guess pseudo-randomly sorted). What i mean is it possible to have buffs/debuffs sorted by name of spell? If it isnt possible to do it in options (i didnt found it), is it possible to code it or make it as feature in some future release (put it on wish list).

Apologies if this problem has been noted before.

Issue: Empty bar won't work properly, when enabled it will hide entire target frame.

All frames are fine as long as empty bar is not enabled. I use empty bar to display name/pvptrinket and it would be helpful for it to work again.

Thanks for the great addon.
