Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.11
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

I have to say, what an addon! I am currently using it as a Unit Frame replacement and modded the raid/party frame to work like grid in conjunction with clique. So far I am liking it!

While I am tuning the layout to suit my liking (by the way, love the ability to customize almost ANYTHING) I am running into little problem.

I am trying to use the empty bar option in the raid frame to display threat level, I tried all 4 options in the text tab, scaled threat kept giving me error, while the other 3 don't seem to do anything.

How should I go about configuring to make the empty bar display threat level?

Also, as I mention before, I am using the raid layout like grid, which means I click on the frame ALOT; while I sometimes find being able to have the drop down menu of each player in my party convenient, most of the time is rather annoying. I would have to press escape or click else where to dismiss the menu.

I am curious to know if there is an option somewhere to turn off that drop down menu?

Thanks for the wonderful addon, big fan of your many addons!

bigmase83: Thanks! Just embed the hex color around the tags, nothing special needed. If you want to do percent RGB into hex you can do /dump ShadowUF:Hex(1, 1, 1) for white. You can't make the borders of buffs green.

Ghallo: If you enable advanced settings, you'll get a sorting option for party.

Also with advanced settings on, you can add a new tag like:

Code:
	local current, max = UnitXP("player"), UnitXPMax("player")
	return string.format("%d/%d (%d%% rested)", current, max, GetXPExhaustion() / max * 100)
to give you rested XP tags.

Vilkku: Cast bar isn't likely going to get that option, and it does show interruptible.

Zwerg: Enlarged stealable buffs probalby isn't going to happen, but I'm not sure. [unit:raid:assist] placed on the players unit frame will show you how many people are assisting you.

Coloring of text??

Shadowed:

First, I wanted to say kudos for an awesome addon! It's extremely efficient, looks great and can do a lot and in all honesty - tons better than anything out there.

I am not sure if I am asking to much, or if this is even possible, but I'd like to make the certain text/tags to display certain colors (hex colors if possible). Is there something that I can do or a plugin that I can download that would allow this custimization?

Also, is there a way to make the borders of my buffs green?

Order party by name rather than ID?

I noticed within the Raid settings I can order raid by Index or by Name. Is there a way to order the Party frames by Name instead of Index?

Also - I'd like to add a Tag for XP - like CurrXP/XPRequired - %Rested
how would I do that?

Feature requests:

-For the empty bar, would it be possible to have Left text and Right text, like the other bars have, instead of just Text (which is essentially Left text). The reason for this is that there is information that I want to prioritize over information on the right side. Example: My layout for the target has an empty bar with level, name and threat in that order. Currently, if the name is very long, threat and parts of the name is being cut off. By having Left text and Right text, I could set the threat on the right side, which would leave threat displayed and cut off the name.
Found the option for this now, my bad.

-I find the cast bar options a bit lacking. Would it be possible to position the cast bar so that it would not alter the frame when the unit is casting something without forcing it to be always visible (somehow make it appear under the frame). Also, patch 3.2 (I think) made it possible to detect if a spell cast was interruptible or not, and ShadowedUF doesn't seem to inform me of this.

I realise that you want to keep things simple, and that you might feel my requests are too complicated and against the purpose of the addon. I'd just like you to consider these.

asdf: i changed vom aguf to suf and i'm almost happy about suf. the config is fine and u can make it look like aguf, if you want.

shadowed: i'm actually testing suf and x-perl, both are nice and have their advantages. your addon looks almost greater, but i miss two features, so i would ask, if u can can add these things?
- big stealable buffs: show the stealable buffs from target (and focus?) in bigger icons. great for raids, when spellstealing/cleaning is important.
- the number of players, which are on my targets. only nice to have, no must have.

want would u say?

greetings.

moradum: It wasn't removed, it's just an advanced option.

Tupsi: /suf -> Unit Configuration -> Party -> Party -> Show Player in party/raid?

asdf: I can't really answer that for you. But I haven't had any real comments that SUF is hard to setup.

ShadowDK: Are you sure you're using the latest version? I can't duplicate this no matter what I try, you could send me the SV in WTF/Account/<name>/SavedVariables/ShadowedUnitFrames.lua though to shadowed.wow at gmail dot com

Layout Manager / Import & Export

Shadowed,

Thank you for this great project. This has greatly improved my wow 5-boxing experience.

In the latest release, I've noticed that the layout manager & the import/export function is missing. Was it removed or needed to be fixed again?

This UI mod is used a lot in the multiboxing community due to its rapid configuration and the ability to use the layout manager to import the layout from the main character.

Thank you

self in party

I noticed the option to have the party displayed like the raid frames, so the setup is the same, no matter if I group or raid with one little exception; myself is missing. So far I havent found a way to get myself into the raid frames when grouped only as a party. Is there a way to do that, so I can forget my Player frame for party and raids?

Thanks

Should I switch over to Shadowed UF? In reality, the biggest thing stopping me is the prospect of having to redo all of my configurations from scratch. Would that be time consuming?
I was in a similar boat to you and I have to say that switching to Shadowed has been very worthwhile for me. Not only is it more reliable than ag (I always had issues with parties showing up properly when I joined in combat) but it's very easy to configure and has some nice features I didn't find in ag. You can configure multiple unit frames in a batch which speeds things up a lot. I also found it much easier than ag to get the frames exactly as I wanted them. What I suggest if you have multiple chars is to install and only enable for one character to start, get things the way you like them and get used to them, then swap over on your other characters once you're sure you like it.

I've been using ag_unitframes for years and years, and I have heard that Shadowed Unit Frames is the "spiritual successor" to aguf (since ag is no longer being maintained).

By solo you mean just using the test-frames I get when unlocking frames? The test-frames does it. Both the column allignment thing and my own target in the party frames is missing. But - If I'm in a real party, the column alignment actually seem to work (when frames are locked).

I tried to rename the lua file and my target doesn't show up next to my player frame in the party - If I unlock and then lock the frames it appears..

Regarding the other issue when frames are unlocked, I only see 4 party frames and they appear to be able to allign properly if I change the unit per column spacing. I find it a bit odd though since I did not do anything else than configuring stuff from the suf configuration window

Did I just go crazy, or have the settings for the cast bar disappeared?
