Talented  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.4.6c
by: IBLJerry [More]

Talented is a replacement to the default Talent UI, with a lot of added features.

Feature List

  • See the complete talent tree on a single frame.
  • View and switch to your alternate spec when you've bought it.
  • Create and view templates for all classes and hunter pets. Hunters can view the spec of their pet and apply templates to them.
  • Set a specific template as a target, and see it when you're spending your next talent point on level up.
  • Apply complete templates with a single click, after a talent wipe.
  • Share your current build with other, or any template you've made.
  • Import and export templates directly from the major online talent calculators.
  • Inspection of other characters will also inspect their alternate spec, if they have one.
  • Added a Glyph frame, similar to the one from Blizzard's Default UI. This frame is independent from Talented main frame, though.
  • A macro command /talented apply <template> allows to automatically apply a template based on its name.
  • Shift-clicking on an entry in the template menu will open the template in a secondary frame, allowing to compare two templates side by side.

Talenvet v2.4.6 is compatible with wow patch 3.3.5.
Talented v2.4.5 is compatible with the new wowhead URL format.
Talented v2.4.4 is compatible with wow 3.3.0
Talented v2.4 is compatible with wow 3.2.0
Talented v2.4 split the glyph frame support into its own lod module.
Talented v2.4 stops checking the validity of all templates at load time. This makes Talented load faster and use less memory at startup. This means that the invalid templates for death knights will be fixed when you try to select them.
Talented v2.4 adds the point distribution of each templates to the corresponding menu entry, as well as the name of the primary tree.
Talented v2.4 fixes a graphical glitch that occurs when RestartGx() is called.

Talented v2.3 integrated Talented_SpecTabs with Talented.
Talented 2.2 fixed some missing pets errors, and provides several usability improvements to the UI.

if i understand what you're wanting correctly, i think this is already in talented... i could be wrong though you can create a template and distribute your talents the way you want them on the template, then just apply the template.

I had to disable the mod for now because it would not let me edit my talents. Any ETA on the next release?

Thanks for this addon.

Just have a small request; any chance you could make so the small tabs on the top right activates second spec.

Example;
Right click or maybe shift click.

Anything that could make it a bit quicker then having to check the other spec and then click on activate spec.

Thanks again.

Oh hai Jerry

Tested this on the first build on the 3.3 PTR. Was able use one of my templates from live to apply an Arcane spec to my premade mage. No errors so far

(posted this on the Curse and wow ace page as well)

From the mmo-champion page, click "export" (bottom right corner) and paste the wowhead link from there. This one will work.

I do not plan to import directly the new mmo-champion format. The idea of having a multiversion URL format is interesting for a website, but for an addon, it has no use as I only support the current version of the client.

Reverse engineering a encoding format is a real pain, I don't plan to do it. I will gladly accept patches, though :-)

Re: No Talent Preview?

Am I missing something here, or is there no way to enable Blizzard's talent preview? When I left-click on a talent, it buys it outright. Admittedly, it asks me whether I am sure, but it doesn't let me "play around" with talents to see where the points would be better spent; I have to buy the talents one-by-one first.

It could just be that I'm not using the add-on "as it was designed to work." I just want to have the whole talent tree in one screen and otherwise it can work like the blizzard talent window...although the saved profiles feature is nice.
Yeah, you're not quite using it right. It's far more power than just a Talent Planner. You should edit a template, not your current spec. It takes some playing around but it's pretty easy once you get it. Basically you can:

- Create any number of spec templates.
- Descriptively name them in the top box (e.g., "Ret PVE lvl 80") and hit Enter to save.
- Import a spec from WowHead or build your spec in there exactly how you want it, no matter if it's 71 points or not (the number in the upper right will show you what level you need to be to use the number of points spent)
- Once you've got some templates, check View Current Spec and Apply the Template from the Actions menu. You'll learn it all at once, assuming you've got the points to spend.
- Now whenever you reset your talent points, you just select a different template, like "Holy PVP lvl 80", apply it and BAM, done. No selecting your points one at a time.
- Edit templates during downtime or even Inspect people to import their spec right into the addon.

It's not even as complicated as the directions may sound, just mess around with it. Seriously, this is how the Talent function SHOULD work. Much respect to IBLJerry for making it.

I found the error. There was a race condition between my addon and AceDB's handling of the PLAYER_LOGOUT event which caused the error if you had no templates saved at all. I fixed it in 2.4.2c, which is available on curse, and will be available on wowinterface ASAP.

Thanks for the research you did. It helped a lot to figure out and reproduce the error.

Ok so after running through my addons this is what I found. The errors don't get tossed in until you load an addon that uses any form of ace lib that has CallbackHandler or AceEvent-3.0 I don't know what differance if any there are between the other addons and yours for included libs but thats what seems to be happening. Ace3 Bartender4 Chinchilla Chatter and others toss the error up when enabled with Talented. Don't know if this will help at all, but it's what I found.

Thanks
