Skada Damage Meter  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.8.2
by: zarnivoop, funkydude, oscarucb

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is very easy to extend, and there are many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality, such as:

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

Hey I am in damage mode with "show total" enabled and DPS enabled on the damage mode. I am wondering how to get the total DPS to show up next to total damage dealt.

Thanks,
Mal

Due to the way the total bar is implemented (sums up whatever the primary value for a mode is), currently this is not possible. You will have to go to the DPS mode for this.

Can the option to change the number of bars shown be readded? The new scale option doesn't quite fit well into my UI compared to the previous version where I could limit skada to show a total of only 12 bars.

EDIT: It would appear this option hasn't been removed, only moved. Didn't quite get that from the change log, maybe write that out a bit clearer?

As a shadow priest all my vampire healing at Major Staghelm is shown as overheal where worldoflogs show only something around 51%. In 2 try I was even at 125% overheal, may be also the heal hyme was counted as overheal for me.

May be this is only because I'm shadow, just wanted to give a head up for this.

thanks !
I've been having this same issue since the update last week.

The sizing is messed up. It's not locking where I want it to be on both the windows I use. It took 10minutes for me to finally get the healing window sized to fit the panel it lives in. The damage window is still being stubborn and will not stay locked no matter what i do to the rest of the sizing, scale and bar options.

Please help, this is extreeeeeeeeemly annoying! Thnx

report to realid

Any chance you'd be willing to add realid reporting?

Any chance of font flags being implemented? White text on bright bars is just not acceptable. I've been able to "hack" it in by adding
Code:
, "OUTLINE"
to certain parts of Bardisplay.lua, but this seems to either break or have Skada behave oddly in later versions. A little dropdown with Shadow, Outline and monochrome etc. can't be that much off a hassle would it?

This is caused by the formula Skada uses to track overhealing, which, after seeing values of over 100% in PuG after PuG, I've concluded is wrong.

The formula can be found in Interface\AddOns\SkadaHealing\Overhealing.lua at line 51. By default, the line reads:
Code:
string.format("%02.1f%%", player.overhealing / player.healing * 100), self.metadata.columns.Percent
I've changed it to:

Code:
string.format("%02.1f%%", (player.overhealing / (player.healing + player.overhealing)) * 100), self.metadata.columns.Percent
and it seems to work properly. As an aside, I'm sure there is a variable for total healing, but I wasn't sure what it was, so player.healing + player.overhealing will have to do for now.

EDIT: It occurs to me that the way Skada was generating overheal percentages is not necessarily wrong, just a different way of looking at it.

My formula shows overhealing as a percent of your total healing output. As in, out of all the healing you put out, the shown percentage was wasted.

The original formula shows overhealing in relation to your healing. For example, 100% overhealing would mean you overhealed as much as you healed. At 200%, you overhealed twice as much as you healed, and so on.

Just a personal preference thing I guess, though my formula makes more sense to me.

Multi-add fights

Howdy,

Was wondering if its currently possible, or would be feasible in the future to add something for multi add fights to stop collecting, or throttle aoe dmg logging, or something. I run addon light, but like have skada, but with my current sad computer I lag terribly when large numbers of adds pop and the whole raid goes AOE happy.

Not the end of the world, but would love some sort of throttling method either, I can just have it turn skada data collection off completely on detecting certain bosses, or something so I can have all the bells and whistles for 95% of the game, without being crazy laggy on the other 5%.

Anywho, thanks for the awesome addon.

Have you tried turning off all modules you are not using? While Skada´s main addon will still listen for the same events, processing and memory usage of those events will then be kept to a minimum.

If I set Skada to DPS mode to monitor my dps it works fine for a while then just resets itself to no mode and I have to change it back to DPS.

It is very annoying when I have to do it several times during a raid or dungeon run what would cause this?
