Gnomish Yellow Pages  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r48beta
by: lilsparky [More]

The Gnomish Yellow Pages will monitor all chat traffic to identify people advertising trade skills. As trade skill ads are identified, they are recorded and stored for later retrieval.

type:
/gyp

to bring up a window with all information in an easy to read table.

strangers names appear in white
guildmates are displayed in green
friends are displayed in yellow

anybody in your local zone is shown in cyan

all offline players are red

the row of trade skill buttons will access the entire database of trade recipes so you can search for whatever recipe you wish. click to open whatever trade skill browser you use.

when browsing a trade skill, selecting a recipe will cause gyp to update the trade link color to light blue if that recipe is contained in that link. also any searches in the trade skill browser will be reflected in the gyp link color -- links that contain none of the recipes returned by the search will be dark yellow; normal yellow links indicate that at least one of the recipes in the browser window matches the trade link.

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but whenever a tradeskill is linked and your bags are open (Using Combuctor, not sure if it does when not using it,) it closes the bags.

Even if it involves asking the person to link me their skill, that would be fine. I can't imagine many people willing to be hired who wouldn't be happy to send the link, after all.

ETA: Actually, I just realised neither of the people I talked to linked theirs in their tells, so for all I know it DOES already do this. If so, please ignore the previous paragraph.

Actually, another cool feature would be the ability to add notes to people on the list, to make it easy to remember if you hired them before, what for, if you liked them, etc. So I suppose I had two suggestions.

Thanks for this addon.
yeah, if they link their skill, it'll record it even if it's a whisper or guild chat or party chat...

i intended to let you edit the notes field so it's just a matter of adding that.

you can fix this by removing your saved variables file. it'll remove your saved ads, but it'll let gyp run.

i'll get working on a fix asap.

Re: filters?

it's on the to do list, but since there's not a ton of data (links are pretty small) and it's easy to filter the display and you can manually delete pretty easily (drag select and ctrl-x) i haven't put much effort into implementing it just yet.

/gyp shoppinglist enchanting -- or something

when i finally get around to adding a mini-map button (or ldb or fubar support) i could probably add a right-click menu to access the shopping list buttons that way. i can't imagine what you're looking for is really a way to type a command to open the frames so much as a way to make a button, yeah?
Yeah, a macro - so i didn't have to open the main window always.

I know, probably lazy

I don't know what you call the buttons - but surely you can't open a window for individual people? Or can you?

What I see is you have all the different trade skills represented by their icon at the top (perhaps what you call shopping list buttons), and i could click on say "alchemy" and it would open the alchemy window.

And I was asking (or perhaps suggesting) if there was a routine to do this, so one didn't have to open the main window first, like say such a macro:

/script Gyp_OpenThisList("alchemy")

yeah, those are the "shopping list buttons". theoretically, i'll be adding the ability to create shopping lists at some point. but it's not been a major priority just yet.

to open a window, i could probably add a command option.

how would you select which one? or do you mean the shopping list buttons?
not sure i have enough globals exposed to do either from a macro, honestly.
