QuestClicks generates a dynamic bar of up to 12 buttons to make your life easier. Originally, this add-on was created in response to the large number of usable quest items introduced in WoLK – the kind where the quest giver would hand you an item and tell you to go somewhere and use it. Throw parachutes to troops, thaw people out with a flamethrower, planting acorns in dead dragons, and the like.
Having to dig through bags to find these items and add them to a bar, only to have to get rid of them after the quest was completed, was a pain. I wrote QuestClicks to create temporary buttons for them to make this easier.
Over the years, the default WoW interface has adopted some of this burden, and now many items like this show up in the quest tracker on-screen. There are still some that don’t, however. In addition, there are a lot of other annoying instances where you pick up an item and need to find it to click on it – recipes, ore nuggets, herb parts, motes, toys, etc.
QuestClicks has optional categories for all of these types of items and more. If you pick up something you can learn or collect, you’ll get a button for it. Click it, learn the recipe, and the button goes away by itself.
You can even add your own items (see the GUI panel in your interface configuration window for details).
Currently, the following categories of items can be enabled to generate buttons automatically:

Re: One of my favorite leveling utilities, however...
I like to run an instance or two with any new version to look for bugs before I release it. I've mostly completed that testing on 1.15. Also, I do leave all the previous versions up on WoWInterface if you want to fall back to 1.12 or 1.13 until 1.15 shows up.

One of my favorite leveling utilities, however...
Ever since the last update, I have been receiving loot spikes... I have enabled only one mod at a time and have indeed narrowed it down to QuestClicks as the culprit. With it being the only mod installed, and not even any extra Blizzard included mods turned on, I get a small lag spike upon looting items...when it's only cash, no spiking.
My process was to completely move my addons folder out of the WoW directory, log in, and let WoW recreate it's needed directories, then installed one mod, testing it and finding no spiking, logged out and removed the addons folder, then moved to the next mod. This has been a 3 day process and it came down to the only mod installed being questclikcks when this occurs. By spiking, I mean that it'll act like a loot lag spike. It's only momentary, but very noticeable and in the heat of fast farming/leveling, can ruin the timings of spells... I then turned on bugsack and buggrabber to see if it was generating errors, but it isn't. This is with the most current version (updated through wowi manager). I thought I should let you know, since I haven't seen any other comments regarding this. I love the add-on and until this latest update, it's been working flawlessly for me.Unfortunately, for now, I've had to uninstall it... |

Since there are also many quest items that do not provide their usable status with range even on the Blizzard action bar (such as the net used in the Kalu'ak daily, The Way to His Heart), maybe it is not yet standardized and it is hard to do this. Range is not the only factor after all. Some needs you to use other item beforehand, some needs the target mob's health to be below a specific percentage, some needs you to be in specific sub zone.
Thanks for the quick research anyway. |

There are a few new API commands that *look* like they should give range information, such as:
* NEW - IsQuestLogSpecialItemInRange However, no matter what I try it on, it doesn't seem to return anything but false Currently I can't find a way to get range information because the point where the quest item is usable isn't available to an addon. I hope that I just haven't figured out how to use IsQuestLogSpecialItemInRange yet and that I can do something along those lines in the future. |

Quest items not listed
The following quest items for a quest chain in Blade Edge Mountain are not in the list.
Although they are not classifed as quest items, they are BOP and can only be used in the quests. Costume Scraps Overseer Disguise - created by combining 5 of the Costume Scraps (WowHead said 4 but looks like it still needs 5 as stated in the item tooltips). Also it would be great if the button can reflect whether it can be used or not, since some quest items can only be used at specific location while some others require you to use at a maximum distance (so that you don't aggro an elite, for example). In such case, player will still need to drag the item to his action bar in order to use it safely. Not really a problem though, QuestClicks already saved me so many troubles for questing! |

I noted however that you indicate: /qclicks extra [itemlink] Isn't it actually: /qclicks addextra [itemlink] to add an item and: /qclicks extras to list them in chat? Of course, even after I did this I still couldn't get it to display. The only thing I didn't try was exiting and restarting the game. But now I have finished the quest so don't have the item anymore anyhow. BTW... was looking at your lua code. I have to say that it is the most clean, well commented code I have read. I have been looking at allot of code, teaching myself lua. Even bought that big wow programming book which has helped allot. Nice coding! Thanks, Twidget |

I'll add that to the default "Extras" list... it doesn't show up because, according to WoWhead anyway, (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28038) it isn't marked in-game as a Quest item.

Missing quest item...
Hi,
I received the following for a quest but it was not displayed on the quest clicks bar: Where: Expedition Point - Hellfire Peninsula Quest: The Murketh and Shaadraz Gateways Item: Seaforium PU-36 Explosive Nether Modulator Item ID: 28038 Note that the item had a 1 hour time limit. Thanks, Twidget Edit: The next quest this led to gave me another item which was also not displayed: Where: Shatter Point - HP Quest: Mission: The Abyssal Shelf Item: Area 52 Special Item ID: 28132 Note that this item had a 1 hour time limit as well. After receiving this item I remembered the thing about being able to add items and as the previous poster noted, after much searching for the slash command, I was able to add the item. When I click the button in the Interface options screen I see the item listed in the chat now BUT it still didn't show up in the clicks bar. I reloaded my UI but no joy so I abandoned the quest, dropped the item, and got the quest and item again... still not displayed. I have the Extras box checked in the options so what else do I need to do to get an item to display after I add it? BTW, might be nice to note on the main page in WoW Interface the slash commands and how to perform each... add and item, remove one, etc. Thanks again, Twidget

I've just downloaded questclicks and am looking forward to using it. A few things I've noticed so far:
- I didn't know the slash command until some searching around on these comments. Maybe I missed it somewhere but perhaps make it more apparent for future users? - I'd love some more formatting options. More scaling options would be appreciated (I think I'd like something between 2 and 3). - Most importantly, I can foresee the row/column expanding to a pretty big size at times when I have a bunch of different items. An option to cut off the row/column after X amount of items and make a new one would be awesome. EX: If I had the slider set to 5, the addon would break into a new row once I got six items on the bar. You could also then have an option of the direction to expand, like new rows above the original or below and new columns to the left or right. I have no idea how much work or how hard these things are, but their implementation would be greatly appreciated. Anyway, great job so far! |

I'll add some explanatory text to the config window until I can figure out how to make list boxes work

Managing Lists
It took me a while to figure out how to add items to list, until I found a post here after a long scan.
I suggest you add that info to the tooltips for the list buttons on how to add item to list or remove item from list, until features help managing list added in the future. Thanks for this very nice addon and I love it. |
