MetaHud - Nuckin Branch  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v30300-8.5
by: Nuckin [More]

MetaHud - Nuckin Branch is a Heads Up Display Add-on for World of Warcraft 3.0 and above. It is a continuation of the original MetaHud by MetaHawk which was discontinued after Patch 2.4.3.

Although MH-Nuckin is a continuation, it isn't the same. MH-Nuckin is focused on remaining encapsulated as a self sustaining Add-on without requiring other libraries. As thus, its feature set differs from MetaHud's.

As of v30100-8.0, MetaHud - Nuckin Branch no longer includes a cast bar. I suggest using my stand alone cast bar called Circle Cast.

MetaHud - Nuckin Branch Features: (as of v30100-8.0)

  • Curved Verticle Health, Mana, Rage, Energy, and Runic Power bars for Player, Target, and Pets.
  • Target's Target Name and Health Bar.
  • Reskinnable Bar Backgrounds.
  • Death Knight rune support.
  • Movable Death Knight Runes.
  • Skinnable Death Knight Runes.
  • Target Buffs (40) and Target Debuffs (40).
  • Countdown timers on all Target Auras.
  • Movable and Resizable Target Auras.
  • Target range indicator.
  • Target guild display.
  • Resting, PvP, Combat, Leader, and Looter icons.
  • Text based Threat Meter.
  • Unique HUD texture that are exclusive to MetaHud - Nuckin Branch.
  • In Game graphical configuration tool to make MetaHud look and feel how you want.
  • Savable Profiles per Warcraft Account.

PTR testing isn't a big thing because the things that blizz changes in their API become very apparent very quickly.

3.1 on the horizon

As many of you know, today patch 3.1 hit the PTR. I will be taking this opportunity to take MetaHud to the world of raindbows, flowers... and the 31000 interface version.

Depending on how long 3.1 remains on PTR and how long it takes me to finished v8.0, I will either release 8.0 on interface 31000, or release 8.0 on 30000 and 8.1 will pick up 31000 compatibility, More coming soon hopefully!

And ontop of my argument, your action bars have range indicators built in.
The ranges are the different ranges, talented or untalented, for certain abilities. Not that its a viable strategy anymore, but on my rogue in TBC while bleedkiting warriors, i knew that I had to be at EXACTLY the 6-7 indicator to be far enough to be out of melee range.. but close enough to be inside intercept range. If I dont hold that and get to close, i get hamstrung/rend'd and lose. If I get too far, intercept and raped. Its very handy for people that know its functions. Not to mention that its a locator convenience if I'm trying to locate certain npcs or something. /target NPC, am i close?!

I rarely look at my action bars. :/ But as a healer, knowing when I'm in the 30-40 yd range is very useful for raiding. Would it help if I could provide a more compact piece of code than those two libraries?

I also use the castbar... if you get rid of that I suppose I can find something else. It's useful for chain-casting where I cast the next spell 0.5s before the current spell finishes. I can do without the little (-0.5) indicator that shows how much pushback has occurred, though.

I use it for my cast-bar... But I don't mind the range indicators and agro alerts going.

Exclamation Memory Overhead Issue

To combat the growing memory overhead in metahud, I have decided to roll back some of metahud's feature set. primarily to revert it to being a pure Player/Target frame replacement. By that I mean only reinventing features in the Blizzard frames.

That sounds a lot worse than it is, But the features being considered for the axe are as follows:
  • Target Range Indicator
  • Player castbar + cast times
  • Visable and Audible aggro alerts

Though the Aggro alerts will be replaced by a percentage threat meter display.

My aim is to make metahud NOT depend on 3rd party libraries as much as possible.
