Tools and tweaks to make the lives of players seeking achievements a little bit easier.
Overachiever is highly configurable and has many features, many (but not all) of which are listed below. Most features can be disabled and/or tweaked.
Options can be found using the /oa command or at Interface Options -> AddOns tab -> Overachiever.
A Few Highlights

Are there plans to get Overachiever updated for the new Cata achievements? I assume yes, but you've spoiled me for things like "For all the squirrels who cared for me".

brr: Again, when you're doing that, please try it with all addons disabled and again with only Overachiever enabled. If you can find a reliable method of making the FPS drop happen, please give it to me with lots of specifics (zones you crossed between, if tracking an achievement or checking/unchecking a particular Overachiever or WoW option makes a difference, etc.). That's the only way to get a "pure" test. If it doesn't happen in either case, then slowly start enabling other addons alongside Overachiever and we may find out which addon combination is doing this.

I'll run some tests with deleting it entirely including any settings files I can find but yes it was logging in to the game and when zoning between areas, going in to dungeons and out, etc. And both I and my friend are experiencing the same behavior...and as achievement junkies you can understand we are sad Let me test a little more and get back to you.

brr: Are we talking about zoning in and out at any time, such as entering/leaving an instance, moving to a new continent, etc., or just logging in? (It sounded like you meant the former.) After the player initially enters the world at log in, I don't believe Overachiever even does anything in reaction to zoning (unless you count the quick one-time check for auto-tracking for exploration achievements, which it also does when you simply walk into a new area).
Are you using a fresh install of Overachiever? The entire Overachiever folder deleted, then the new version put in its place? Same question goes for others with FPS problems. |

I'm trying to nail down the FPS issue but I'm not able to replicate it so far. I'm usually getting 40-100+ FPS so maybe it only happens on slower systems (multithreading may influence this also), but when trying to replicate this I turned display of FPS on and watched that and it wasn't dropping any more than it normally did. Mousing over various things - units, items, minimap icons, etc., never produced a stutter (except when all addons were enabled, not just Overachiever; I suspect some other addons I regularly use are involved in that, though interestingly enough, it did seem to start just recently, maybe after that WoW patch).
Since being in combat with large groups was mentioned, I ran a couple Isle of Conquest matches and charged headlong into the enemy raid. In one match no addons were running while in the other only Overachiever was enabled. FPS dropped about the same both times. It's really baffling because Overachiever doesn't do anything all that fancy regarding combat - it's not reading the combat log or anything. All this starting with a patch from Blizzard is annoying as well, making me wonder what they messed with that they didn't tell us about. |

Some other addons that are also using the LibBabble-Inventory-3.0 and/or LibBabble-Zone-3.0 libraries had issues also. Both libraries have been updated a few times since that patch, so maybe that has something to do with it. |

I unfortunately have to concur with the performance issues. I see it in game when mousing over but that was a little more subtle than the issue I have zoning. Overachiever enabled adds about 3-5 seconds of the screen sitting there, the zoning loading bar fully "loaded" and often a spinning clock. As soon as I disable the addon the zoning in and out of places moves at the normal uninterrupted pace. Overachiever alone still causes the issue. If there is some way of tracking what the addon or addons are doing I would be happy to pull this data and share it.

Those with FPS problems - when did the problem start? Has it happened with Overachiever v0.57 all along, or did it only begin with WoW 4.0.3 or 4.0.3a?

I too have experienced a very HEAVY stuttering whenever I mouse-over something with a tooltip, be it Blizzard standard icons (character, guild, help, etc) or items with Overachiever enabled. The overall performance become worse as well but the stuttering is the most noticable and very easy to reproduce.
You don't need to open anything up after logging in. Just enable Overachiever and hold your mouse over something to make the tooltip appear. And yes I did try disable all other addons and enable only Overachiever and the problem is there; disabling Overachiever solves the problem. Please fix it soon. |

FPS Drop
I also had this problem where my FPS dropped into the single digits during a raid when I opened the Achievement frame.
It was during an Ulduar run and we were in combat fighting trash when I opened the "Lich King Raid" category and shift-clicked some achieves to track when my FPS dropped to single digits until combat was over. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of achievements now in that category? |

I wouldn't be able to test it with only overachiever installed. It's pretty random, but it seem to happen most in a raid environment. Having only overachiever installed then wouldn't work... It's really a strange issue because it seems to happen (for me) only when in combat and attacking. Two other people in my raid group had the same problem after installing Overachiever too. Perhaps there's some conflict with another addon we're all running. If I have an opportunity to try your suggestions out, I will and let you know how it goes. |

Theondry: Just selecting the Suggestions tab? Hmm, I don't have that problem, either. Does it still happen if Overachiever is the only addon enabled? As for making search results update as terms are changed, it's possible but would probably create a performance hit that even I would notice -- but maybe that's because I usually search using the "any of the above" field with "search all achievements" checked. I may look into it.

with regard to overachiever affecting performance, I have noticed that if I open up the Achievement tab and go to an OA specific tab, such as suggestions, my game will begin to freeze up significantly, producing a "spinning pinwheel of death" (I run on a Mac). This ends up requiring either a '/console reloadui' (if I can type it in between freezes) or to hard close the game.
As an aside and feature request, would you be willing (or is it even possible) to have search results update as the search term is being typed out?

harl, braelin: You're sure this is caused by Overachiever? I've never had that problem. Are you using the English client with the latest version of Overachiever? Braelin, you said it stopped with Overachiever disabled, but did you try it with Overachiever enabled and all other addons disabled?
As an experiment to see whether throttling would be useful, both of you please open Overachiever\GameTip.lua and find the line reading "function Overachiever.ExamineOneLiner(tooltip)". Immediately after that line, add this line: "if (true) then return; end" (without quotes). That will prevent reminders being added to things like fishing nodes and unread books, but since you've said the FPS drops when mousing over non-item, non-unit things like the menu icons, it's the obvious place to look. |
