A Data Broker plugin that provides 2 blocks: one for guildmates & one for friends. These blocks show informative and interactive clickable tooltips. It's fast and lightweight.
Informations/screenshots are not up-to-date (and it's boring to do ).
It has the following functionalities on entries
- click guildmates or friends to whisp them.
- alt+click guildmates or friends to invite them.
- control+click friends to edit note.
- if you're an officier, you can control+click guildmates to edit their public note, and control+right click to edit officer's note.
- right click guildmates to sort the closest column.
- if you're an officer, you can click the MOTD to edit.
- middle click on friends to remove from friend list.
- control+mousewheel to resize tooltip.
And the following functionalities on blocks
- control+click to toggle hints so you don't have to remember all this crap.
- left click on guild block to toggle guild panel
- right click on guild block to toggle the guild notes column.
- shift+click on guild block to toggle guild name.
- left click on friend block to toggle friend panel.
- shift+right click on blocks to toggle total number of guildmates or friends.
- middle click on friend block to show the "add a friend" dialog box.
It shows
- check marks for grouped guildmates and friends.
- class icon (mainly to provide a column to sort) when not grouped.
- class colored names.
- level colored in grey, green, yellow, orange or red depending of your own level.
- zone colored in green, yellow or red depending of faction.
- public notes (and officer notes for guildmates if you have the rights).
- rank for guildmates.
If you have AddonLoader, the loading of this addon will be delayed.
If you have Skinner, this addon will be automatically skinned.

Problem I had: When my friendlist is completely empty, then the text that tells me so popos to the left instead of down like the friendlist. Not a big deal, but not nice, either.

I cannot use r5 or r6 cuz of an annoying change ... i can no longer hide ( in fortress) the name of the guild i am in ... the way i have my ui set up i need my friends list and my guild list to be just numbers ... i know in what guild i am i dont need it to show that constantly
previously ( using r4 atm ) if i hided the label it would hide the guild name in the plugin ... now the guild name and the players online are all atached to the text so i can either see guild name and who is online or nothing at all ... pls change this in latest version to the way it was in r4 |

The major change I made was to merge PLAYER_LOGIN into just ADDON_LOADED. Maybe UIParent scale (which I use to set the tooltip scale) is not set at this time. I will look into it. EDIT: Ok that's it. I removed the "f:SetScale( UIParent:GetScale() )" in ADDON_LOADED and added UIParent as the parent of the menu frame line 4: "local f = CreateFrame( "Frame", "AraBrokerGuildFriends", UIParent )". Up to now I was thinking a nil parent arg was like setting it to UIParent

Found the size problem. Here's line 104-114 of your code.
Code:
local function CreateFS( index, parent, justify, anchor ) local fs = parent:CreateFontString( nil, "OVERLAY" ) local font, _, flags = GameFontNormal:GetFont() fs:SetFont( font, 12, flags ) fs:SetJustifyH( justify ) fs:SetTextColor( 1, index == 1 and .8 or 1, 0 ) fs:SetShadowColor( 0, 0, 0 ) -- ADDED fs:SetShadowOffset( 1, -1 ) -- ADDED if( anchor )then fs:SetPoint( "LEFT", anchor, "RIGHT", GAP, 0 ) end return fs end Edit: Sorry I can't be more specific there, I'm none too familiar with the globals and such involved. Take a look at the LDB API documentation or code for how to do it. Till then, for those with a larger-than-normal tooltip, simply change the number in fs:SetFont( font, 12, flags ) to something a bit smaller. 9 or 10 should work well for most.

EDIT: r5 is now available, see change log.
@Frayol: I think I will stick with greyed out icon/names for now. Im not really satisfied with what I tested from comments (I even added a column for checks, but it looked ugly and a waste of space, especially when not grouped ). As for hints: I tried to add them properly, but the tablet I coded isn't flexible enough to do it in just a few lines of code, and I don't want a TabletLib of 3000 lines so I will give you a chinese proverb instead: "Forget 7 times to remember forever" @Jzar: I will look into officer's note. It will probably use Ctrl+RightClick. And for the error, I think I finally(!) found how to get guild info everytime the addon load (with or without AddonLoader).

Also, I have a few ideas for Ara Guild / Friends. As an officer it's really nice to be able to edit people's public notes so easily with this mod; what about adding Ctrl-MiddleClick or Ctrl-RightClick to edit a person's officer's note?
And this one may be slightly borrowed from picoGuild, but I think it's nice to have everyone in the same zone as you have the text for their zone colored Green. Lastly, I personally really like having party / raid members' names greyed out. I think that color is much more of a visual cue than adding extra characters, almost regardless of how unique or distinctive any such character or string may be. |

Member1 +Member2 Member3 +Member4 +Member5 +You It doesn't have to be a single character, it could be a tick icon or even "<group>". Another alternative would be to add it in front of the class icon, again assuming that it is feasible to do. On another note, would it be possible to add the possible click options at the bottom of the tooltip? I ask as I have a really bad habit of not remembering which clicks perform which option.

Maybe checks instead of desaturated class icons, and I don't grey names ? Any ideas are welcome. |
