Cellular  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.0.001
by: totalpackage, drjebus, Sugarwing

Cellular is an instant messenger mod (for only whispers) based on the functionality of an old version of ForgottenChat.

YouTube Intro

Features:

  • Many appearance options
  • History log
  • A way to copy text
  • Reuse of the default chat editbox
  • Whispers shown in separate windows or a tab-based single window
  • Should work with most spam filter mods
  • ...and other basic IM features
  • !! New !! Language support for enUS / enGB and deDE

How to Use:
  • "/cellular", check Interface Options->AddOns, or right-click a window for options
  • Left-click a window to toggle the editbox
  • Left-click a tab to activate it
  • Shift-left-click and drag a window to move
  • Shift-left-click and drag bottom-right corner to resize
  • Right-click a tab for show/close/options dropdown
  • Middle-click a tab to close
  • Hold ctrl and close any window/tab to quick remove from history
  • Several convenient buttons (some require shift clicking for confirmation reasons)

Warnings:
  • If you have history enabled and notice that Cellular is using a lot of memory, you should cleanup your history entries using Cellular's history options.
  • If you're experiencing crashing due to memory errors, disable and clear your history.
  • If you cherish your history, you can back up the saved variables file and then delete it. You can view it in any text editor later. The location of the saved variables file is here:

Problem with Cellular

Since last patch Cellular doesn't seem to play nice with Bliz's new chat changes.

I can no longer hit R on my keyboard to reply to last whisper. Even when there is only 1 chat tab up.

Here's the big issue:
Frequently, after I've chatted with someone in Cellular I suddenly can't move my character, if I hit enter it sends someone a nice whisper with "was&d" letters. This repeats until I close all tabs.

I'm also using Prat and yes, have cleared my history. Prats had several updates since last patch. Wish Cellular would do same to fix my issue.

Besides the crashing problems since 3.3.5 I have two other problems which disappeared after uninstalling Cellular:

1) When whispering RealID friends and WoW friends at the same time trying to switch between conversations results in a stack overflow error (iirc).

2) Being invited to a RealID Chat resulted in no window showing at all and an error whenever one of the people in chat sends a line.

Hope this helps to trace and squash some nasty bugs

For the memory crashes, just disable history and wipe it clean. Remember that each character has their own set of history that needs to be cleaned individually.

For errors that occur while chatting, continue posting errors that has not been posted yet. I am waiting for beta to allow addon testing.

I'm having a similar problem with crash on login / logout with Cellular enabled. I'm trying to track it down, but need help.

Here's part of my last crash on login:

Code:
==============================================================================
World of WarCraft (build 12340)

Exe: G:\Games\Blizzard\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Time: Jul 24, 2010 1:30:45.764 PM
User: Tenebrae
Computer: STICKY
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This application has encountered a critical error:

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

Program:	G:\Games\Blizzard\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
File:	.\src\lmemPool.cpp
Line:	311

Requested 3296 bytes of memory
I also tend to get the error #132 crash on logout.
The curious thing is that I tried enabling all my mods EXCEPT for Cellular and I did not crash on login/out.
I tried disabling all mods EXCEPT for Cellular and I also did not crash.
Very strange! Still working to track down the exact combo of Cellular + other mods = crash.

I have gone through and shut off all my mods one at a time and narrowed the culprit to cellular. I am using no other chat mod at the moment.

With cellular running I get a very rare fatal crash while playing the game and typing into the bliz UI chat window. The more common crashes I am getting are when i reload ui or try to log out to get to another character. These are all fatal crashes that come up with a memory cannot be written error.

I turn off cellular, and only cellular, and the crashes stop completely. I turn it on and they return instantly.

I am afraid that I am also having the same fatal errors whenever logging out of a character or by exiting the game or dalaran even. It only has happened when i had Cellular enabled, when disabled all crashes disappeared, so unfortunately i have removed Cellular from my list of addons till the update happens.

Dont tell me the addon is left for dead? It's one of my "must have" addons.. I needs it! Cant stand WIM and cant find a replacement for Cellular.
