Low Download Speed

I have noticed the download speed is very variable in the last days. I get from 3 sec for a 14mb file to 20 minutes! Right now I'm downloading the Details addon (4,4mb) since 5 min with 15kb/s. But 10 min ago I downloaded my UI (14mb) to make a video of it in 3 sec (over 1mb/s). Is there any reason for this? Or is it just me? Speedtest says no...

Possible Akamai is having trouble with the CDN server in your area? We use a CDN for our files so they are downloaded from a server near your location. Downloads are super fast for me in Wisconsin. I don't see any issues listed for them under network status atm.

I'll put in a ticket to Akamai and have them check it out. Can you ping cdn.wowinterface.com and paste the ip here so I can tell them what cdn server(s).

I've tried it again and everything is fine (my usual 1.4 MB/s). *shrug*

We finally tracked down this problem inside our datacenter and this should be fixed. Sorry it took so long.

Our datacenter saw that our switch feeding the firewall was saturated a bit ago and added another 2G channel. However the load-balancing algorithm they used was horrible and basically the new channel wasn't hardly getting used at all.

Hmm but I still have problems with slow loading times for screenshots - can't search for an UI by screenshot because it takes 2-15 sec to load 1mb of a screenshot with my 50 mbps download speed.
Maybe allow max 300kb for the first screenshot that you can see? So its fast to scroll though the pics. Some UIs even have 3mb screens, thats no problem if they are the 2. or 3. pic but if they are the first it takes too long.

A better solution would probably be to create smaller thumbnails for the listing pages. Limiting the size of the actual uploaded image would just lead to people uploading useless things like logos or random icons as the first image.

You mean biger thumbnails right? Because currently the thumbnails are so small that they are useless for the UI section except if someone only shows a little part of the UI.
