Powered by Wowhead

One thing I've never understood is, since Wowinterface is part of the ZAM network, as is Wowhead, why isn't Wowinterface powered by Wowhead, adding tooltips to links, coloring their text according to item quality and such, as well as adding the appropriate BBCode tags?

We had it enabled a couple times and then disabled and re-enabled a few times because it was effecting our load times usually when Wowhead was having DDOS issues. Now that is fixed thanks to awesome mitigation. That tooltip script should really be put on a CDN though.

Ok I re-enabled the tooltips, was able to find a way to get their CDN to serve it to me.

Shouldn't you be able to avoid that by loading the script asynchronously?

Yep, and I am now. Previous versions years ago of their tooltip js had issues with async. Lots of things have changed since I disabled it. Just never thought to re-enable because there wasn't a real big need here.

But why do the spell links need to be refresh when you reload the side it takes 1-2 sec untill the links are shown right, maybe this causes high traffic?

Uhm, cool to have the Wowhead JS, but could you set the renamelinks parameter to false?
It messes up links with custom link texts (example)

I would also like this. In addition to losing whatever text you intended to be the link, you also lose any custom formatting you tried to apply to the link. For example, in one of my addon descriptions, I list the spells it handles by default, and used [COLOR] tags inside the [url] tags to color each link by class so it was easier to see which of your class's spells are in the list. Since the addition of Wowhead tooltips (which are generally great!) the colors are lost.
