Item placement in a frame

Does anybody know a nice tutorial or can push me in the right way of how i can make a frame with a grid that i can fill with items from my inventory or spells and drag the items around.

Im interested in how to make the grid not the api for getting items from inventory

Thanks in advance!

How to make it depends wholly on what you intend for it to do.

Do you just want a display of pretty icons?

Do you want action buttons?

Just to clarify, you only want to look at them? Not use them?

Just make a regular frame to serve as the container. You'll then need a texture to use as the background of your frame. Then make as many textures as you like to display the icons. Arrange them as necessary.

Making it a drag and drop interface is a little trickier, but that will get you started.

And making it drag able to the action bars would that be very advanced stuff?
