Button Sockets - Help!

I'm trying to figure out how I can change the button socket background on my action bars so it doesn't look like the Default UI's. That way, I can eliminate some art panels on my UI and make Bartender 4 configuration a little more easier and free.

I believe I've seen this done, I just don't know how. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
