Player nameplate?

Hi, all - a while back I gave Rift a try, and thought it had some neat features WoW should incorporate. One tiny feature really stood out to me, and that was that Rift has a nameplate/healthbar for the PLAYER. I was stunned at how much easier this made things, and was wondering if anybody was aware of any sort of addon that provided similar functionality in WoW?

I think it might be possible to accomplish something like this using a subset of PitBull, but it just doesn't feel the same. I use TidyPlates and love it, maybe I should try to bribe the author of TidyPlates to build something ... but is there any existing addon that does this?

There is no nameplate for the player, so TidyPlates can't do this for you. You'll either need a full UF mod (disabling everything but the player frame), an addon that provides only a player frame (a HUD would work), or to move your existing player frame to the center of the screen (this is possible in the default UI).

Rats, too bad! Thanks for your speedy reply, though!

I had hoped to hew as closely as possible to the default Blizzard unit frames, but I'll see if I can finagle with PitBull to accomplish this.

KuiNameplates are are a nice alternative as well.

That's a nameplate addon, though, and there is no nameplate for the player.

The camera is anchored to the player, it would be quite simple to create a healthbar in the middle of the screen. Granted it would have been a lot more robust with AVR, but I guess that ship has sailed.

I briefly used a rather featured nameplate addon that did all kinds of things like point arrows from you to your target, it also gave you your own nameplate, and I think it was called Aloft. Don't quote me on that, it's been a very long time.

Edit: it wasn't Aloft, it's called "NamePlateAdvance"

I think I'm just going to have to build this in PitBull. I've been trying to minimize my use of Addons for various reasons, but once you get used to the player healthbar/nameplate, it's tough to do without it.

Thanks all!
