One of the addons that fails wrt showing/hiding the Blizzard buffs and thus can break that part of EBB seems to be DoTTimer or rather it's PlayerAura module.
I wonder if the latest change to EBB made it more robust to such 'evil' addons...

There is no way to distinguish between buffs cast by yourself and those cast by others. The only thing you could do would be to create new groups and use white-/blacklist filters to only show or hide those buffs you can cast yourself.
WRT a menu for setting up all groups at once this is something that is planned but I'm still look...

well, GuildRoster() will ask the server for an update on the guild, including position of guild mates. When the data is thenm recived by the client it will raise a GUILD_UPDATE. This can take even a few seconds worst case...
If I would only call it OnShow(), the data wouldn't be available, yet. So old data would be shown.
