Is there a way to make all nameplattes class colored with the custom colors? At the moment it's only paladin & shaman, so I went into nameplates.lua and added all the other classes at the top like the paladin and shaman were but it didn't do anything :(... do I have to change something else as well?

When I changed it to what you said, the background of an empty power bar no longer had the 1px black line, but instead the thin black line that separates the health bar & the power bar was gone (when a person has full health). At a health deficit a line appears again:

I tried both putting the alpha & then adding in the F.dummy part you said but neither did anything so I guess you just can't change the color :(

Yeah I saw that the borders were colored, but I meant when I'm in raid/party on the party frames the two debuff icons that show don't have the colored borders so I didn't know if there was a way to know without targetting the person and seeing what color border the debuff is

I had this same issue a while ago, if you go into options -> interface -> buffs and debuffs there is an option called "Buff Durations". Checking the box made mine show up again so maybe that's why yours aren't also :)
