Chat goes blank during combat

I know this is probably easy however I just cant seem to find out how to turn this off. When ever i get aggro My text goes poof and my chat is blank till combat ends. I have looked under media and chat but still cannot find something that lets me turn this off. Deleted wtf as well after new version and still cant figure this out.

Updating addons

Is it safe to update any addons? I assume we dont touch elvui and anything form there but how about other addons? I want to replace DBM with VEM. Some addons are out of date is it safe to update them? This may be common knowledge and i am sorry if it is but this is my first time using this. Looks very nice by the way.
