No food in bags

I'm not sure if this is something I'm doing wrong or not. I have a wind serpent and I feed him bread. Whenever I select the food list and try to change it to breads, it always switches right back to meat when I leave that tab. This leads to my pet always looking in my bags and never seeing food in there. Any idea what I can do? I've...
