Shorten Channel Names

I can't seem to shorten channel names properly. The channel names are short, however, they just appear as the first 3 letters of the channel instead of the DEFAULT_STRINGS that I had changed. Is there something wrong with shortening channel names? I added %2 to CHANNEL_STYLE and I get this error every time I try to chat in a channel. I also don't see any messages from any channel.
