I uploaded a quick fix based on goldengamer's bug report. Please let me know if this resolves the FPS issues and LUA errors. This fixed the sustained FPS issues (aka, 10-20 FPS at all times). It's very annoying to have the bars taking up the screen with absolutely no way to see directly behind them via a lowered opacity level.
