3.1 compatible!
Posted By: frenchie
Ok, I've just uploaded a quick update to make it 3.1 compatible. This mainly involved fixing the priest talent checks for the revised trees. I put in a check for the new mage Glyph of Ice Barrier, but not sure if it works right as I don't actually have that glyph! Divine Aegis barriers are detected but at the moment the addon d...

Just dropping in to say that I've been away from WoW for a while (got a bit bored with the 3.0 content to be honest) but I'll try and sort out an update once 3.1 is out. @denied: as far as bonuses from items go, that's a little bit of a tricky one, not least because, without having the item in question, I can't do any testing! Als...

Just noticed a small bug. There is a line in the cooking db (and maybe elsewhere, don't know I only use it to check cooking stuff atm) that tests for version=="3.0.8" and if that is not true then doesn't include the recipes for Kungaloosh, Fish Feast and Worg Tartare. Of course now we are on 3.0.9 this test fails and these recipes...

Unfortunately I'm very busy with work stuff at the moment to do anything much with Shieldmonitor. The taint issue posted about seems to be something to do with UIDropdownmenu which I believe is actually a Blizzard bug (there are posts on various forums about UIDropdownmenu causing problems for people).

That's brilliant, thanks. If you could just upload the file to a convenient sharing site and pm me the link, that would be great. (www.mediafire.com is a good free file sharing site if you need somewhere to put it). Originally posted by Iktose French translation is done :) I've tested it with my mage, it's working with all...

Hmmm, ok. I don't have an arena-capable shield-using character myself, so I'd appreciate it if you could post a combatlog extract for the few seconds after you enter an arena. It sounds like the SPELL_AURA_REMOVED event isn't being sent by Blizz on this occasion (which sounds a bit odd, as I'd have thought that that would mess up...

Ok thanks. I'll look at producing a beta compatible with the German client in the next day or two. I'll pm you with a private link to test it. By the way, the line 4 thing for tooltips is not a coincidence. The whole of the spell description is in fact 'line 4'! (Fel Blossom is different since it's an item not a spell). The streng...

The essential things for a localisation are: 1) the patterns in SHIELDMONITOR_TIPREAD that are used to extract the shield absorbtion level from the spell tooltips. The main pattern used in English is "bsorb%a+ (%d+) ?%a*%s?damage". This ia able to match all spells apart from Fel Blossom. However if other languages need to use diff...

I think those are pretty much the formulas I'm using now although from my testing the 0.808 modifier (approx, I am currently using 0.805) needs to be applied to GetSpellBonusHealing irrespective of talents. Oh wait, you're doing that, I just read your formulas a bit wrong. Anyway, in my tests I've been getting a max value for PW:S...

Posted By: frenchie
In order to get the maximum hp for a shield my addon reads the spell tooltip. Thus it needs a localised string for the pattern matching. Since that part of the addon needs localisation, I also match on the spell name in the combat log rather than the spellid, as that covers all ranks automatically.

I have to be honest and say that playing around with the look isn't really my thing. I'm more interested in getting the data side of things accurate, and making sure the addon runs efficiently. For instance, showing the correct max value for a PW:S when it's cast be someone else on you. By the way, I've now realised that the way to d...

Ok, I'm working on the version to work with multiple shields up. I've got most of the way there but I'd like to know where the voidwalker sacrifice shield and fel blossom shield fit into the order of shield priority. Does anyone have a herbalist warlock/priest/mage that can do a bit of testing to see which shield soaks up the dama...

Since coming up with the 80.5% number I've found this thread on the Wow forums http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?forumId=7573196&sid=2000&topicId=9336576946&pageNo=1& which sort of confirms that number (although numbers given on that page vary from 80.4 to 80.57). Though to be honest the maths in that thread lose me...

Ok, thanks for the research, I'll have a look at this in the next week or so., but no promises! As for toggling monitoring of certain shields, I've realised after a bit of thought that this won't help the multiple shield issue, since I'd still have to keep a count of each shield precisely because (as previously mentioned) the comb...

Re monitoring multiple shields, there are two issues. Firstly, the combat log gives no indication as to which shield absorbed the damage. I guess there is a priority, with mana shield having the lowest... but if say PW:S and Ice Barrier were both up, which would take the damage first? I guess (would hope) Fire and Frost shields ta...
