Sound commands for every sound updated for MoP  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 5.4.2 (beta 1)
by: Bluspacecow, Eisa

Technically this isn't an addon. It's a zip that contains a text file that lists the /script commands to play almost any sound in game.

If it was in the MPQ files then there should be a /script command to play them. From 25 man raid bosses to the sound a Gnome Male makes when dying.

I've also included instructions on how to do this yourself if I ever drop off the face of the earth

Instructions for use

1) Unzip the zip file

2) Open up the large over 3 MB file whose file name begins with "WoWSoundsUpdatedTo" using Word, Wordpad, Notepad or any decent text editor. It's just a text file so anything that can read a text file should do.

3) Use Control-F ie the Find function to find what you need.

3) Copy that /script command with Control-C (copy)

4) Switch to the game

5) Press Enter to bring up a chat box

6) Control - V to Paste it in.

7) Press return. The sound should play

These script commands can also be used in Macros

Now before posting in the comments about looking for a sound please make the effort to find it first.

I'm not trying to be mean or rude it's just that I might not always have the time to find it for you. I might not even be able to login to the game to test that I've found the right sound for you as I could be answering posts at work. Try searching on the NPC name or alternatives of the NPC name. Don't be afraid to try ones you think it is. Once you've exhausted all reasonable avenues to find it yourself then post and I'm sure someone will be happy to help

I've spot checked a few but haven't tested every single /script command I've listed here. Let me know if some aren't working for you.

Bluspacecow's Favourites :
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\NPCGhoul\\NPCGhoulVendor04.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\NPCGeist\\NPCGeistVendor04.ogg")

Eisa's Favourites :
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Anubrekhan\\Anu_Naxx_Taunt01.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Loathstare\\Loa_Naxx_Aggro02.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Moroes\\MoroesSlay03.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Mortar Team\\MortarTeamReady1.ogg")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Wolf Rider\\WolfRiderPissed3.ogg")
(and many many more)

DISCLAIMER :

* While every effort has been made to keep this list as accurate and free of duplicates I make no guarantees that I haven't missed anything.
* Due to an existing bug/oddity in how the PlaySoundFile call works I make no guarantees that every one of what is listed will play. List is generated from what is listed in the data files and there is no easy way of checking what sounds will or won't play.
* Sound file paths and sound names are listed as they are spelt in the data files. If there are mispellings it's not my fault (and do not try to correct them)

Total number of sounds is now 48,902 (listed in WoWSoundsUpdatedTo505.txt) . enUS locale only , other locales to be done ASAP

v5.0.5 (beta 2) Missed out on saving the linefeeds in the correct format. Should be properly formatted for both Mac and Windows now

v5.1 (beta 2) Bug fix patch for the above. Forgot to change everything to lower case before using the Remove Duplicates command to remove cases where Blizzard's included both the upper case and lower case form of a sound. Removing 88 sounds bring Total sounds back down to 49,957

v5.2 (beta 1) Update for patch 5.2. Very large update - Adds 2492 new sounds after duplicates removed. New sounds Total now up to 52,449

- Adds 670 new sounds bringing the total number of sounds up to 53,119

believe has been added/changed and may not reflect reality.

PROJECT DISCONTINUED

Wowhead now has a sound database. I've been assured of it's accuracy and that for the most part gets auto updated by them when they extract new patch data into their database

How to use:

http://wowhead.com/sounds

1) Go to URL above
2) search on sound by typing something into Name field at top left
3) Click Apply

From there you can play a song by clicking on it's play Icon.

To get the script to play in game you need to :

1) Click on the sound from the search listing.

2) At the top right click the "Links" button

3) Copy/paste the "In game link"

Had to upload it again as I forget "PlaySoundFile" has to have that exact captialisation. It can't be all in lowercase :P

Submitted :

v5.3 (beta 1) Update for patch 5.3.0 build 16992
- Adds 670 new sounds bringing the total number of sounds up to 53,119
- Read me file & documents restructured and reorganized

EDIT : Got total number of new sounds wrong as well as forgot to add a return in a readme. Version number not bumped as these two updates in the files were not worthy of making it a beta 2

Update : My 5.3 update is ready to go.

But I'm going to hold off for a few days on it.

I'm afraid there's going to be a bug fix patch that gets pushed out that'll come with a new MPQ file update with new sounds in it.

Rather silly I know but I'm going to play wait and see until Tuesday next week NZST

Okay :P as of right now none of the soundfiles work due to the patch, so i'm saaaaad lol.
I did put out a beta 2 version of the 5.2 listing.

I randomly tested more then a few sounds and they all worked. Are you sure your using the proper version of the file ?

The slashes should be going this way / / / /

Still futzing around with readme files for the 5.3 update. +670 new sounds :P

Uploaded v5.2 (beta 2)

For some reason the version got bumped before I had even uploaded the proper version 2 O_o. Maybe I did that when I uploaded beta 1 (transposed the 1 with a 2)

Yeah this is going to get confusing to check if it's uploaded sorry :|

Now I see where I went wrong for this update.

I used to use the \\ from of separating out the paths. If you have a look in :

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...id=13194#other

And grab the 4.3 version and compare to the 5.0.5 version you'll see this is where I shifted from the "//" form to the "/" form of separating the paths.

This was done to save me a step in the process. Normally I extract all sounds via Ladik's MPQ editor using a VM Windows 7 on my Mac. Then on the Mac side I do a ls and a grep to get listings of the sound files.

Mac uses "/" as a path separator so doing it this way I get a form of the macros that works in game without having to do the extra steps of turning it into the "\\" form of doing the paths.

For this update I had issues finding time to do the extraction of the MPQ files so I did it at work. Using Windows Machines that use backslashes as a path separator. Onto their network drives that for some odd Windows Sync Center issues would not let my copy them all off.

All I could grab was the list files. Which had backslashes instead of forward slashes OS X uses.

So I did the 5.2 update solely off the list files. Which have the slashes around the wrong way - the "\" form which needed to be changed to "\\"

*sigh* More testing then an update coming.

Ok I have a file with the slashes around the right way now.

Just sending it out on Twitter for a bit of random beta testing to ensure it's working for everyone.

Once that's done I'll do a proper update.

Slashes are in the wrong direction :|

Unfortunately I can't fix this now as I'm at work. Will try to issue an update as soon as I can.

The reason the scripts arent running, at least for me is because the folder seperator, the \ for me needs to be a double rather than a single.
Try one one of the scripts in-game, replacing each \ with \\.
