Any word an an update with the non appearing loot bars? Its the only thing really bugging me as the rest of the mod is working perfectly.

Party of 5 and or raid Im getting no roll window at all despite working in a group of 2 or not. Seems that sometimes it wants to come up and sometimes not. (Weirdly I can get it up for Pally Prot spec and not for my ret spec.

Just weird :/

Yeah weird is the word, For me it so far has worked perfectly since I deleted all old Macaroon Addons and their saved vars.

Think the problem is localizing the problem, which one pretty much have to do before fixing it.. and as it happens seemingly sporadic it's hard to know what causes it and therefor hard to fix.

Loot or no loot, that is the question here.

Blowing the same whistle, alert bar group broken for no obvious reason, very random flaw.

I'ts like it works for 9 out of 10 of my characters on one server and on another server it ONLY works if I put the old Macaroon! Loot Windows in alongside the alert group.... sssstraaange.

My observation is that is has something to do with dual spec settings not working properly for the alert group... investigating further, keep tuned.

I think I found a temporary solution when I started using macaroon from bartender4 again *hides* (ran out of macros for my dual spec)

Obviously no one wants to delete their saved variables and re-do their bars right?

Log onto your character
Go to the profile in Macaroon or whatever for when you have a working set of Loot windows with Macaroon (Assuming atleast one of your characters/profiles has it working, if not maybe a new character?)

Log out.

Set this file to read only (right click file-->properties--> check read only)
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SERVERNAME\CHARACTERNAMEl\SavedVariables\MacaroonAlerts.lua

Make a backup copy of it somewhere.
What this does is lock in the settings of the data of the loot bar, so the information will not disappear.

Log back to whatever character/profile you need it on

The loot bars should now be working. If it didn't work for same character different profile, try (with the same working macaroonalerts.lua file still locked in from before) logging out with the broken profile and logging back in. It should work now. And you can unlock the file if you wish so that it updates your settings in the future.

Notes: I noticed the problem on one character, I updated all my macaroon addons, readjusted my bars,
noticed I am in the wrong profile for the spec, then switched to a different profile.
I start looking around for the loot bars, tried relogging, etc... Only the first profile you first logged in with Alerts addon would show up... Other profiles... are screwed until you use the above possible solution. [coming from a person who hasn't used macaroon since 3.3.3 or 3.3.5 or something]

For my below post, I did not test in a dungeon yet >_>
What I did was make sure it showed up in edit mode because that was my problem.

I'm using the dualspec option per bar and not the profile switching and I got the dualspec option set to off on the lootbars and stuff that don't need a change on... spec change.

If you all are using profile swap on spec change I guess it'd have something to do with that feature. I can only suggest removing and readding the loot bar and it's buttons. Save profiles before between and after to realy make sure it gets the change.

Other than that I guess Good Luck is in order.

there is always the option to backup and and then delete the Macaroon LUA saved variables for the character with the issue, and rebuild that character's Macaroon interface from the ground up.

or, if you like, you could send a copy of those saved variables for Macaroon (again, for that one character only) to someone like Maul or Dwargh.

sending them to me, on the other hand, is probably a waste of time and effort, i am always swamped with my college homework, and more and more often, i use WoW as a way to talk to people who have offered to give me advice on coding projects (me == computer programming major) whenever i get stuck, instead of using WoW as a game.

Just read your post again and thought to myself.. why didn't I see that before?

You're saying you still got old Macaroon addons installed?
Like MacaroonLoot?

that's the kind of thing that would interfere and mess up the new Macaroon, Delete saved vars and folders for those addons.
After doing that you might have to also delete your Alert bars saved vars to get it to work.

I too have sometimes the same problem. Then the loot window wont popup in an instance. And I have to leave the party.
Deleting and remaking the lootbar is no option.
Not sure how to handle this.

I think it happens after creating a new profile for an existing char and switching back and forth between the profiles. Not sure tho.

And this is strange too:
When I create an Alert Group, then I make it with 5 buttons...the 5th is the Dungeon alert.
But when I look later in the config window at the bar list on the left, then I see a SEPERATE Dungeon alert with 1 button AND a SEPERATE Loot alert with 4 buttons.

Then I havea request:
Could it be possible to show the name of the profile loaded?

If you have as you say a separate bar for loot and dungeon alert bar listed there is the possibility that those two bars might just be outside the screen.
Mark them in the list and go
/mac x 0
/mac y 0

If they really exists they should now be moved to the middle of the screen and you can delete them. You should also check if you got them in the bar storage.

It shouldn't be a problem but it might be that one bar(the one not visible) could grab the lootbars and populate the buttons hindering the 5 button one to do so.

Can't loot

This may be a very silly question, but for the past couple of months I haven't been able to loot any items that drop in instances if those items require a roll. The loot (i.e. "alert") frame in Macaroon never appears although I added it, and I can see it if I edit bars. I'm never asked to roll. I'm never given the opportunity to need/greed. When I ask other people in my group what they see me doing, they say I pass on everything. Is there anything in Macaroon that could possibly account for this? I've used Macaroon for years, and it's only in the last couple of months that I have observed this behavior.

Do you still have the old MacaroonLoot and it's saved variables installed and loading at startup?
If so, remove, delete, uncheck...
Also delete your Saved vars for your Alert bars and if necessary recreate the bars.

I deleted all MacaroonAlert or MacaroonLoot files (can't remember the exact names; did it a while ago). I just now deleted all references to "alert" and "alertbars" in the MacaroonProfile.lua file. I will create the alert bars again from scratch and let you know if that fixes the problem. Thanks.

Nope, didn't work. Here's what I did...
  1. Deleted all occurrences of MacaroonAlerts.lua.
  2. Delete all occurrences of MacaroonAlerts.toc.
  3. Deleted all occurrences of MacaroonAlerts.xml.
  4. Deleted the MacaroonAlerts folder.
  5. Deleted MacaroonAlerts from AddOns.txt.

Then I reinstalled and reconfigured MacaroonAlert. Net result is that the standard Blizzard alert/loot frame appears but I cannot need or greed on anything.

Any other ideas? I'm sorry to be such a bother, but this is pretty annoying, and solving the problem seems to me at least to be much more difficult than it needs to be. I love Macaroon. I've been using it for ages, and would like to keep using it.

So you deleted the addon module, did you also delete your MacaroonAlerts saved variables from each of your character specific saved variables in the WTF folder(both .lua and .lua.bak)?

Now if this doesn't work either, I would really suggest you go about loading only macaroon at login to wow and see if that is working, go about running a low lvl dungeon with a guildie in a groupp to get the loot bars. If a clean install and a clean startup of the module(new saved variables) don't work by itself with Macaroon there's a problem I am unaware of with your versions. However, if it works with Macaroon alone, then you must have some addon that's interfering with Macaroon, which seems to me to be more likely since it has never faltered to work for me.
