Shadow's Ready Buff Check

Version: 1.2

Shadow's Ready Buff Check

This addon is no longer being actively updated. Post any errors in the comments section and I will attempt to address them.

'/srbc' for in-game options.

Tired of either having to search through my buff frame or having my chat frame spammed with "BUFF MISSING" I created this very simple mod that gives a very basic frame to show what buffs are missing. Currently it has no class specific buffs, but otherwise works perfectly. It will be updated with class specific functions when I get the time

Function:
VIEW IMAGES TO THE RIGHT FOR VISUAL
- Displays a frame when a readycheck is sent out. This frame shows what core buffs are missing. If you have the buffs, the frame and text will be hidden.
- You may keybind showing/hiding of the frame manually in the standard blizzard keybind menu (Game Menu(Esc) -> Keybinds -> Shadow's Ready Buff Check).

Features:

- Keybind for show/hide frame (Game Menu(Esc) -> Keybinds -> Shadow's Ready Buff Check)
- Shows frame on readycheck
- Hides after readycheck finished
- Hides frame in combat
- Frame movable
- Frame scalable ('/srbc scale(0.5)' etc)
- Type '/srbc' for slash commands

Change Log:

-v1.2 (29/10/09)
--- Added simple keybind method for show/hide frame. Assigned under the standard blizzard keybind frame. Game Menu(Esc) -> Keybinds -> Shadow's Ready Buff Check.

-v1.1.3 (23/10/09)
--- Minor update to adjust text size and frame size to be larger/smaller respectivly. Will eventually come up with a proper fix when I have time.
-v1.1.2 (20/10/09)
--- In my haste to publish the update, I made a critical error. The mod should now work properly, but will not hide when you press yes/no. This will be fixed eventually, until then this minor patch will make sure it works.
-v1.1.1 (20/10/09)
--- Right clicking the frame now hides it
--- Fixed 50% scale command
-v1.1 (21/10/09)
--- Added crude frame scaling method as temporary method
----- '/srbc scale(0.25 or 0.5 or .75 or 1 or 1.5)' will adjust the scale. i.e. '/srbc scale(0.5)' will set the scale to 50%
--- Fixed Stoneblood Flask register
--- Fixed live update for gaining/losing a healthstone
--- '/srbc standby' will now place the addon on standby
--- Frame now hides when you respond yes/no/afk to the readycheck

Future Implementation:
- Allow players to exclude buffs from the frame via graphical interface
- Add class-specific buffs
- Add proper scale bar using graphical interface

Free License. You can update it as you like, some acknowledgement would be appreciated but I'll survive if not :P I'm too far behind on the changes now to updated it properly. I apologise for the sloppy coding.

I ended my subscription a couple of months back. However, provide a copy of any error and I can most likely fix it without an account, if not I can probably get my hands on one just for the purpose of basic maintenance.

No problem, thanks very much for the reply.

Yes, popping up after every combat may be too much. But can limit it to doing so only when there are buffs that you don't have on. And in terms of the current format of things, its far more convenient than having to wait till a ready check (that might not always happen) or manually command-lining it yourself (which is very inconvenient).

Superior to that, of course, is having the information quickly accessible through a LDB tooltip (preferable) or a tooltip from your own button. LDB display mods are widespread and becoming increasingly so. Titan Panel supports it, FuBar does as well as popular LDB-only mods such as DockingStation, NinjaPanel, Fortress, ButtonBin and so on.

If not sold on LDB display mods, you don't have to limit yourself to them. You can very (very) easily add a simple minimap button through which you can display a LDB feed from your mod. You can do this through the LibDBIcon-1.0 library, which you then include with the mod.

That library provides an easy way to have a simple standalone minimap-button-only "LDB display". So that authors not wanting to limit a display to LDB-only can provide a minimap button with very little additional effort or code.

The advantages are that those users with LDB displays can instead have the feed through their chosen mod. As well as those users without such displays having a standard minimap-button tooltip providing the information. Two for the price of one.

Finally, like your other mods, the current download is in RAR compression. Ignoring the elitist, etc. issues (heck, I use WinRAR), it means that this can't be installed with WowInterface's MMOUIMinion. The standard format for mod downloads everywhere is ZIP.
Thanks for the heads up, i'll change it on next upload.

Regarding the scale problems, the /commands are a very crude way to do it until i have the time to sit down and fix the whole thing up(Uni Exams atm). I realise the gigantic frame is a big issue, i'll definatly look at scaling it depending on your screen size which is very possible.

As far as having the frame appear after every combat, I believe that would get somewhat annoying after a while. A minimap button might be the way to go. I can't see the frame being too amusing running back after your 100th wipe on Anub Hard.

Great feedback though, much appreciated.

The only one I've seen that reports buffs on you alone missing that works without issues in WoW 3.2.2: BuffEnough. There are other that report the entire raid's buffs (RaidBuffStatus, FuBar_RaidBuffFu, etc.), but not just your own. I've been using BuffEnough regularly on all my raiding characters. Unfortunately the author has left WoW, meaning if an upcoming patch breaks it, it is unlikely to be fixed.

So nice to see Shadow's Ready Buff Check come along. A great start to this. It uses virtually no CPU time either when idle or in combat and provides important info. A few things, though.

The (gigantic, even at 0.5 scale; see below) frame hiding in combat and/or after a ready check is great. It not reappearing automatically until the next ready check and/or having to manually pull it up (via command line) is more of a hassle than it should be. Should really have an option to have it come up automatically after every combat.

As to the frame size...at 0.25 scale its small enough, but the text isn't visible then at the resolution I regularly run & test at (1152x864). 0.5 is a decent scale for visibility. But the frame is still gigantic at that scale. You need to move the thing about in the middle of the screen to see every buff without other things overlapping it.

Which is another big hassle. If you keep it in, say, a screen corner so it doesn't interfere with the rest of your UI, having to move it to somewhere clear to see the buffs after combat is inconvenient.

Ideally, this should be either a LibDataBroker feed (with its information in a tooltip) like BuffEnough is or else, say, a small button with the buffs missing appearing in a tooltip when you click and/or mouse over it. Either would eliminate the frame problem that currently exists.

Finally, like your other mods, the current download is in RAR compression. Ignoring the elitist, etc. issues (heck, I use WinRAR), it means that this can't be installed with WowInterface's MMOUIMinion. The standard format for mod downloads everywhere is ZIP.

Other than the frame display and the hide/unhide issues (& the download), this is great early work. Look forward to seeing how it progresses.

your check for Flask of stoneblood is spelled with only one "o". If you want to make that small alteration for your next edition. :0
thx for the addon
Yes, thank you, unfortunatly noticed that before the first upload, will be fixed in next update. Have to attempt to fix the live update portion of the Health Stone monitor as well.

Excellent idea for a mod.
Suggestion: addition of a button to report which buffs are missing, or perhaps clicking the icons to state missing buffs to chat.
