Quartz - Modular Casting Bar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.7.8
by: Nymbia, Nevcairiel

Quartz is a modular approach to a casting bar addon. An overview of (hopefully most of) the modules:

*Player
The core of Quartz is lightweight implementation of a standard casting bar, with configurable size, text and icon positioning, and colors.
*Target/Focus
Implementation of target and focus casting bars in similar fashion to the player cast bar.
*Buffs
Display of target and focus buffs and debuffs as duration bars using the new API introduced in patch 2.1.
*Flight
Hooks into FlightMap or InFlight to display the current flight progress on your casting bar.
*Global Cooldown
Displays a tiny spark-bar to show your Global Cooldown near the cast bar. Helpful for those who'd rather not squint at their action bars to see when they can cast again.
*Interrupt
Changes the color and text of your casting bar to help show that your cast has been interrupted (and show who interrupted it).
*Latency
Displays the amount of time spent between cast send and start events, in the form of a bar at the end of your casting bar, with optional text that displays the actual duration of the lag. This helps in canceling casts when they will not actually be interrupted, especially for users with consistently high pings.
*Mirror
Shows the 'basic' timers such as breath and feign death, as well as some 'odd' ones such as party invite time, resurrect timeout, and arena game start, and a framework for injecting custom timers into the bars.
*Range
Recolors the casting bar when your cast target moves out of range mid-cast.
*Swing
Displays a swing timer for your melee weapon as well as hunter autoshot.
*Timer
Allows for creating custom timers displayed on the mirror bars.
*Tradeskill Merge
Merges multiple casts of the same tradeskill item into one big cast bar.

Use /quartz to bring up the configuration menu.

As a hunter with steady shot rotation you want start your next steady shot when the swing timer is into the autoshot lag area for the best rotation.

Yeah, the one tricky part is where to get the latency number; we can't "deduce" it in the same was as we can for a full-on spellcast.. so the question is, do we trust the game's ping number, or use the measured amount from the last spellcast?

Awsome mod imo.

Only request is that you somehow signify who your focus is. Right now all I'll see is their casting bar, buffs(should it be an ally, or foe w/ detect), and debuffs. Nothing about who is my focus.

Personal suggestion would be to add a name plate and/or a portrait.
Hrm, that may make sense in a seperate module.. I'll think about it

Thank you. I tried explaining the best I could lol.

Here is a screenshot to kinda show what I'm talking about.

Bigtrouble is the top bar, Quartz is the bottom cast bar. I start casting a Steady Shot shortly before my Auto-Shot was going to go off so that Steady Shot was delaying my Auto Shot from triggering. The amount delayed in this screenshot was 1.0 seconds and bigtrouble displays that.
Ah, I see. May take a little while to get it right, as I don't have a hunter with steady shot.. but I'll see about getting that added.

This is a great mod, started using it today but I have one request

I play in 1440x900 reso and I can't see some of the buff bars I was wondering if you could add in functionality to be able to scale ALL of the bars in quartz.

Thanks a lot for a super addon.
The latest version should have the options you need (maybe not a scale option, but there's height/width/font size stuff)

Thanks in advance
Set two spells of different schools to primary and backup -- so like, frostbolt to primary and fireball to backup. That way, if one school gets interrupted, you can still see the cooldown using the other spell.

Is there a way to change the color of the bar once it hits the latency zone?

It would be nice to make the whole bar turn a different color so you could know the split second you can start another cast.

Thanks
I like that idea, I'll get it thrown in soon.

Is there an option to adjust/remove the "fade out" of the casting bar after a spell is cast? If not could we get one please?

this is a great mod to use for maximizing healing/dps output in conjunction with a stopcasting macro. The only problem is that i have to watch my castbar intently to see when to start the next cast. If only the mod could make a little ding noise right before a spells castbar when into the extra latency zone (with an adjustable offset to accomodate different ppl's reaction times), so i would know when to recast without watching my castbar like a hawk

Differences from NECB?

Besides the lag timing feature, what other significant differences are there between your mod and the NECB?

If you can hook on any spellcast (especially on instant cast ones, mortal strike, shout, arcane shot and ability not ready message) and average with data from the last 10 sec or so (could even remove stastically irrelevant data points), would be as good as it gets.

More to the point is that when any creature (mob or player) parries, the attack speed doubles until the next attack swing, so half the remaining time could be knocked off the bar (once, attack speed won't triple/quadruple on when parriying more than once during one swing).

I've answered some of my own question. This is a casting bar replacement mod (both player, target, and focus), along with some additional timing bars for showing the duration of certain buffs/debuffs on the target & focus.

NECB does more than that, but much of it I don't need.

I like the lag feature. Very nice. The swing timer is also neat.

Thanks for your work.

GCD Timer

For some reason I can't get the GCD spark timer to work. No matter what spell I make primary/secondary, no addiotional bars or animations show. Any suggestions?

Make sure you're hitting enter in the text fields, they're a bit sneaky -- the spell name will correct it's capitalization when it takes. After that, it may take a UI reload for it to find and recognize the spell.

Buffs/Debuffs

Hello.

Love the mod. Thank you so much. Quick question.

This may just be something to do with the way the blizzard api works, I dunno, but is there a reason buffs/debuffs don't appear on targets/focuses unless they're applied while the target/focus is targeted/focused on? What I mean is, if I target someone randomly who, for example, has Arcane Int on himself, while I can see the AI icon under the target frame, Quartz doesn't put an AI buff bar (with timer) in my designated spot. If, however, I then buff the target myself, the Quartz buff bar appears as normal. Am I doing something wrong or is this just the way it is?

Thanks again.

After much agonizing over my question, I'm starting to think that the show buffs/debuffs feature in Quartz is intended only to show those that I, the player, can cast. Is this correct? This isn't going to show buffs from other players, consumables, procced buffs/debuffs, etc.? I'd want to use a different addon for that...

Correct?

Is there a way you can put a configurable "ding" sound in for DoT expirations? that would be neeto-spameeto. as a lock, i have to watch my DoT times in order to maximize DPS/mana consumption. (i have OCD, shut up)

I love this! I only have one question.
Is it possible to make the player cast bar grow the other way? (e.g. right-left)

Swing timer

Everything seems to work ok, except that the swing timer seems to get confused when I swap in and out of dual wield on my warrior; it disappears altogether, and doesn't come back till the next pull. Even starting out a fight in dual wield, it sometimes does not appear. Minor thing, good work so far .

Quick Query

I am looking at using Quartz now to replace a number of my existing addons, this looks extremely useful for any gaming.

One thing that i would like to know is if it is capable of showing your debuffs on both yourself and your target, for example as my rogue i would like to see the following on my target:

Rupture timer
Deadly Poison timer

and on myself:

any item/enchant procs
Slice and Dice
Find Weakness

i have downloaded the addon now and will be having a detailed look when i get off work but a little prior knowledge would help a lot

thanks very much.
