Phalanx, the hive grows...
Introduction and General Foreshadowing
Narrator: It was a dark and stormy night.
[Lightning strikes.]
Esha: It's alive, aliiive~...
Igor: What ith?
Esha: Oh, what, sorry? Nothing, nothing is... it's just amusing to say.
Igor: I thee.
Esha: But I have completed my latest monstrocity, which I shall soon unleash upon the World, I call it the Phalanx Mind Subjugation (tm) system!
Igor: You're going to unleath Pee Emm Eth upon the World?
Esha: Yes!
Igor: I'll bite, Thir, tho what doeth it do?
Esha: It can be made to make people say things they're willing to say!
Igor: ...
Esha: It can also be made to force people to make emotive gestures that they were willing to do in the first place!
Igor: ...
Esha: People will be forced to do what they'd likely do anyway!
Igor: ... tho, it ithn't exactly thubjugation, then ith it?
Esha: Not as such. No.
Igor: I thee.
Esha: ...
Igor: I brought thome tea and little bithcuith!
Esha: Oh, lovely!
Narrator: I suppose the moral of all this is that our good Esha is somehow in a drunken state of mind again, despite the lack of actual drinking.
For those still reading...
Phalanx (a.k.a. the Phalanx Mind Subjugation (tm) system, a.k.a PMS) is a system wherein characters can be controlled with simple commands from a main character. Examples speak louder than long winded explanations, so here's an example!
/tell Victim !pms /me looks around for something to mount.
Victim looks around for something to mount.
In other words, it allows other people to force you to do anything that can be typed into the chat's entry box. Of course, if everyone could do this, it'd spell disaster. So PMS is designed to only work for people you've specifically added to a whitelist (hence: not exactly subjugation).
There's a nice options screen you can use to manage the whitelist (pictured on the right). This can be accessed by typing /phalanx, and you can use that to dictate whom has the right to use PMS upon your person.
Why?
I wanted to make something fun?
I like fun?
I play games to have fun?
Perhaps I was just tossing multiboxers a bone. They deserve some love.
I don't know, really. It just seemed like a fun idea at the time!
It could be great for a multiboxer though, just think, you could have a macro like this:
/tell Porthos !pms /me thrusts his sword into the air, "One for all!"
/tell Athos !pms /me thrusts his sword into the air, "One for all!"
/tell Aramis !pms /me thrusts his sword into the air, "One for all!"
/me rallies the cheer, "And all for one!"
Perhaps you're a multiboxer or a guild-leader who has all of his alts or lower ranked peons in a channel, and you wanted to do a rallying cry. You could do something like:
!pms /yell For the Horde!
At which point, perhaps some forty people would yell that. That'd be grand for boss-kill screenshots and such, wouldn't it?
Beyond that? I just think it's priceless.
Poll time!
Cast yer vote, how many people do you think will vote this low/report it because they haven't read the description properly and think it's "hax"? It'll be fun finding out!
