About Atlas
Atlas is an addon for World of Warcraft that includes detailed maps for every instance in the game. Originally, Blizzard neglected to include maps for instances. However, after a number of years Blizzard began to include official maps for some instances but not all. These official maps are in the same hand-drawn style as the built-in world maps.
Conversely, the Atlas maps are based on data used by the minimap, which provides a more detailed, accurate, and colorful representation. You can think of this as the difference between a street map and a satellite image.
The core of Atlas is basically an image viewer. However, it's the images that come with Atlas that make it worthwhile - a map for every instance in the game. Furthermore, while the built-in maps mark the locations of major bosses, Atlas provides detailed and accurate information about all of the creatures, NPCs, objects, and events you'll encounter in each instance. General information about each zone is provided as well, including its location, level range, player limit, attenuation requirement, and associated faction. All entrances, exits, portals, and connections are labelled clearly. Because there are so many instances in the game, you can categorize them by type, level, number of players, continent, or expansion.
After installing Atlas, you'll notice a new icon on the minimap that looks like part of a little globe (you can right-click the icon to drag it around the minimap's frame). Click this icon to open up the main Atlas window, which displays the maps and legend. You can alternatively use the slash-command "/atlas". The drop-downs at the top of the window enable you to navigate between the maps. You can also drag the Atlas window around the screen. Lock it in place with the little lock button in the upper-right corner.
At the bottom of the legend is a small text-entry field as well as Search and Reset buttons. Type part of a word or name in the box and click the Search button, and the legend's entries are reduced to only those that match your text. Note that the search is performed only on the entries for the current map, not all the entries in the database. While not so useful for instances with only a few entries like Ragefire Chasm, the search comes in handy when there are a ton of entries, like for Blackrock Depths or the AtlasMajorCities plug-in. If you want to get the whole list back, just click Reset.
Atlas also includes maps of class order halls, scenarios, battlegrounds, dungeon locations, transportations, and outdoor raid bosses.

Re: Maybe a little more clear info?
Although I do think our addon info looks quite clear, I have made some minor revision. Basically the info answered most of your questions. Atlas addon is just an image viewer. This viewer can let you view the pre-made images, so we made dungeon maps, battleground maps, scenario maps, flight point maps, etc. All these pre-made map images are static, as they are pre-made, not dynamically generated. So since it's an image viewer, you shouldn't expect it provide those fancy features like "Go To", "Way Points", etc. I would suggest you go for a quick try, that's the best way you will know if this is the addon you want. WoW addons are all free and created by volunteers, we didn't ask for any money return, so it's almost no harm to install it even it turns out this is not what you want. Also, WoWInterface has a very good addon validation, there is no any addon hosted here which turns out to be harmful. |

Get "Atlas has detected missing module(s)" error
When I first log into a WoW character, I get an "Atlas has detected missing module(s)..." message/error window. It names 4 plugins (Atlas_Battleground, Atlas_DungeonLocs, Atlas_OutdoorRaids, Atlas_Transportation) BUT I have downloaded and installed these plugins, so WHY do I keep getting this message/error in WoW? They seem to work fine but this message implies they don't exist. Any suggestions as to why the message?

WoW can't read addons from Zip files. Yet. Please install Swatter or other similar addon, and run the command Code:

Re: Re: Re: Re: Get
[quote=AnrDaemon]
As for the ZIP files not showing the version, is the number in the name of the zip itself not the version of the addon? i.e. for Atlas_Battlegrounds_v1.25.01.zip isn't v.1.25.01 the actual version of that addon? If not, then I wouldn't have given you a list of the zips, but that's what I thought that version number in the name was. In any event here is the info you requested from the /run foo( command (I had swatter installed already from the Auctioneer addon, just had to enable it). If you want ALL the results of the backtrace let me know and I'll post it, but I pulled out just the version information it showed to make it easier to read through here: AddOns: Atlas, v1.25.00 AtlasArena, v1.4.02 AtlasBurningCrusade, v1.25.00 AtlasCataclysm, v1.25.00 AtlasClassicWoW, v1.25.00 AtlasScenarios, v1.25.01 AtlasWorldEvents, v3.03 AtlasWrathoftheLichKing, v1.25.00 AtlasMajorCities, vv1.5.3 AtlasMajorCitiesEnhanced, vv1.01 AtlasQuest, v4.8.4 --- Strangely, the results from foo isn't showing the 4 addons/plugins that show up in the error message window as well, but I did unzip the zip files into the 'World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns' directory along with the ones it does show. Why would Atlas not be picking up those 4 specific ones when they are in the addons directory? I manually looked in the TOC files for each of the 4 suspect addons and see this information for each (these versions coincide with the ones that were in the zip file names too): Atlas_Battlegrounds: Version: 1.25.01 Atlas_DungeonLocs: Version: 1.25.00 Atlas_OutdoorRaids: Version: 1.25.00 Atlas_Transportation: Version: 1.25.01

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Get
Sorry I should ask the question more clearly.
I meant to ask what's your game client's language. Sometimes the problem might appear in some specific language. As the development and testing usually is done in English locale, sometimes we are not able to detect the possible issue in other languages. But anyway, I didn't get similar issue reported from other users. AnrDaemon is trying to say the ZIP file name doesn't tell everything. The main point is what's the folder looks like after you extract those zips. For example, is the Atlas_Battlegrounds_v1.25.01.zip being extracted like World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Atlas_Battlegrounds\ And you are able to find the TOC like World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Atlas_Battlegrounds\Atlas_Battlegrounds.toc Also one question, are you able to see those plugins/modules showing in the game client's addons list? |

Yes, all 4 of the suspect plugins/modules are showing in the game client's addons list and are checked.

Ok, looks like I found the problem. My ACP addon (Addon Control Panel), that manages addons within the game, had the 4 plugins/modules unchecked SO they weren't being accessed. Oddly, this was only on one of my characters and I hadn't unchecked them. Not sure how they got disabled. In any event, after turning them back on for that character, I no longer get the message, as it should be.
Thanks for the help <pokes ACP with a stick!>

I wasn't using quite much addons, so I never thought of it could be affected by other addon. I think this is a good lesson learned. |

As of 10/15/15 (patch 6.02 pre-WOD) Atlas is throwing too many errors so has been disabled. Surprised there is no update? Atlas is a STAPLE addon and ICLWI!!!
Thanks in advance! |
