Plays a sound when someone puts down a feast. Supports MoP, Cataclysm, and WotLK stat-increasing feasts, as well as the holiday Bountiful Feast. The sound will play even when you have the normal sounds turned off. The sound is from Ogri'la dailies; you can preview it with this:

/run PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Doodad\\SimonGame_LargeBlueTree.wav", "Master")

Very helpful so you don't miss Feasts in raids, or accidentally put down a second one!

Intentionally does not work in combat, to avoid any concerns about performance for watching the combat log. (One extra mod watching your combat log is harmless, but a dozen might be noticeable. But I don't want DinnerBell to contribute to this, so it doesn't watch the log during combat.)

Morsker A Fallenroot Satyr Forum posts: 22 File comments: 89 Uploads: 8	I made a new mod FixModSounds, that does DinnerBell's sound workaround for all sounds not just one mod. I had to make a new version of DinnerBell that's aware of it though, so they don't conflict. That's what v1.6.1 is.

It turns the sound on and volume up for 1 second, so the sound will play. The workaround won't activate until 4.0, but it's in the code now waiting for 4.0, and the mod won't need an update. I'm still looking for a better workaround, but what I expect will happen is tons of people will throw a fit on live once they realize their boss mods don't play sounds they want, and Blizzard will fix it then. Hopefully.

Several authors have complained about this to Blizzard. If Blizzard doesn't change it, I'll just make DinnerBell turn sounds on for 1 second when playing the sound. If you've modified your version it may not be worth updating just for this. The previous version is tested and still works with patch 3.2.

I just have to decide on the right way to add a little configuration without bloating up the addon to 100x its current size. Until then, you can just change this line: Code: local BELL_SOUND = "Sound\\Doodad\\SimonGame_LargeBlueTree.wav" WoWWiki has an entry on PlaySoundFile macros with a lot of sounds listed. If you really want the Red Dwarf sound, a combination of Firefox DownloadHelper and AoA Audio Extractor will let you make an MP3 from the YouTube video. (I guess you'd need additional software to clip out just the part you want to play; I don't know what to use there.) Then you could put RedDwarf.mp3 in the Interface folder, and play it with "Interface\\RedDwarf.mp3" Last edited by Morsker : 08-04-09 at 04:30 PM.
