Cooldowns  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.3.1
by: yarko [More]

A World of Warcraft add-on that displays numeric cooldown counters on buttons and other icons with cooldowns.

*** Having Problems? ***

Before posting a problem report, please make sure you are using the most recent release and try resetting all Cooldowns settings using the Defaults button in the Interface Configuration window. If your settings got messed up somehow during the recent updates, setting them to defaults may solve the problem. If that doesn't help, and you still don't see cooldown text, try adjusting the pixel width setting to a smaller number (default should be 27). If that doesn't help, post a problem report and make sure to include which other addons you run and any special configuration changes you make so I can try to replicate the problem. Also, if you run an older version because newer ones are not working for you, let me know. Otherwise, until scientists invent the teleporter and I can port to your computer, there isn't much else I can do for you.

PIXEL WIDTH

Users can set the minimum pixel width for cooldown text display. Cooldown counters will not appear on buttons or other cooldown icons that have a width smaller than the number chosen (except for the quest watch buttons which always show cooldown text). The default is 27 which is between the size of the standard player buff icon and the standard unit frame debuff icon. The standard action button width is 36 pixels. Scaling a cooldown icon using another addon until it is smaller than the selected minimum width will cause the cooldown text to stop displaying on that icon.

FILTERING

Too many cooldown texts all over the place? I made Cooldowns work with any visible cooldown in any addon (bigger than the default width of 27 pixels). To control where cooldown text appears in your UI, check out the Filtering tab in the Cooldowns configuration panel. You will see a list of all the UI frames (frames hold sets of cooldowns) that Cooldowns is aware of and you can uncheck the ones that you don’t want to see cooldown text on. Don’t want to see cooldown text on Bartender4 bar 6? Uncheck BT4Bar6. Don’t want to see text on WeakAuras icons? Uncheck WeakAurasFrame.

Deleting entries from the filter list will NOT block cooldowns on those frames. That will make Cooldowns forget about that frame, but the next time a cooldown is activated on that frame, it will be added to the list again enabling cooldown text on that frame. Delete filter entries when you will not be using those frames anymore such as when abandoning or changing addons. (Leaving filter entries in the list for addons no longer in use isn't really a problem. Doing so will only reduce efficiency very, very slightly.)

Configure colors, fonts, and other options through the Cooldowns interface options panel.

Please see the readme.txt file for a tutorial on how to configure fonts in Cooldowns.

This addon is still a must for me due to it's unique color switching method at the cooldowns' end. I know there is OmniCC but it can't do the color flashing that attracts eyes the perfect way Yarko's addon can. (or I'm just unable to find the settings for this.)

However, in Shadowlands there's a bug with Yarko's Cooldowns, the counter shows up on various elements of the UI where it should not be. For example on the Honor panel, The Maw zone icon, or on the portray icons of mission reward panel. Maybe other UI elements are affected too.

Is there anyone who's able to track down what may cause this bug please?

How do I move the CD on the buttons?
They're a little bit down from the middle, did a ctrl+f for positioning
but I couldn't find it.

Thanks mate.

I'll check it out.

Edit: Found the problem. TullaRange disables a hook that cooldowns relies on. Until I am able to come up with a fix for that, the two addons can't work together. Sometimes that happens.

Hey all! Version 4.1 has a Filtering tab in the configuration options that should allow people who are seeing cooldown text where they don't want to see it to keep it from showing up. Check it out and let me know if it works for you. Hopefully that should make Cooldowns run more peacefully with other addons while allowing some people to see texts where they haven't been before.

New version here, everyone. A bit of a rewrite, so please report any problems you have, include other addons you are running, and if you have too many problems, go back to the previous version (3.0.2) which works with 5.2. I will try to get any reported bugs fixed as quickly as I can and release a final 4.0.

Sorry I took so long getting back to this comment. Yes. There is a problem with Cooldowns not working properly with some button addons that do not name their buttons' cooldown objects. When I get some time, I will try to provide a fix for this.

Hopefully beta 2 solves the problem people have had with Cooldowns messing up the map and raid frames.

Careful everyone. This new version of Cooldowns (3.2 beta) may be crashing the world map and even the entire client. I can't for the life of me figure why except that I added the font pulldown and other devs seem to have have had problems with the dropdown system. I will do more testing after the game comes back online.

You looked at the code to check to see if I simply copied the other addon, which would be true plagiarism? Or you just mean that they do similar things so it must be plagiarism?

My basic response is, why does it matter? Go use OmniCC. Who cares? I don't.

Years ago, there was a collection of WoW addons called Cosmos. (http://www.wowwiki.com/Cosmos_%28AddOn%29) One of the addons was called Cooldowns or CooldownCounters or something. It was maintained by a fella who maintained several of the addons in Cosmos. Whether or not he plagiarized someone else's work, I don't know nor do I care. Well, that fella stopped maintaining them. I am a programmer and I liked many of the addons in Cosmos, so I decided to take my favorites over as a hobby. As time went by, I added new functionality and made them work exactly how I wanted them to work. I also took suggestions from others and added them in as well. Eventually, Cosmos died completely. The fella who ran the site decided he didn't want to do it anymore. So, since many people still used and claimed to love my addons, I decided to upload them on Curse. Others came to Curse and asked me to upload them here as well. Now, I was not in the mood to check to see if other addons existed that did what mine did and if they did it the way I liked it. I simply didn't care. I just uploaded them and that was it. Many people use my addons (at least they did before I took my extended break), and in the case of Cooldowns, some have claimed that it is more efficient than the others out there, maybe even more efficient than OmniCC. Not that I care all that much if it is or isn't. All I care about is that I love my addons the way they are, and I don't mind keeping them updated on Curse and Wowinterface in my spare time for others who like them.

Every once in a while I get someone asking why this addon was built when some other addon already does what it does. Hope this bit of history clears things up for ya and anyone else who seems to need to care about such things.
