TradeShare

Version: 1.2.4
by: grunkalunca [More]

wowtradeshare.com is down for good. This addon is no longer usable.

Purpose

The TradeShare addon allows players to share tradeskills on http://www.wowtradeshare.com. Players may post for themselves, their guild (via the guild channel), or other players on their realm (via the trade channel). This is accomplished by having the addon collect tradelinks, having users copy the data in-game, and then having users post their data to http://www.wowtradeshare.com.

  • Submit data for yourself or others to our site anonymously
  • Search our site for rare recipes and keep track of who makes what in your guild
  • Search our site for yourself and click the professions button to get a detailed listing of the recipes you do and don't have
  • Register on our site for an account to add pricing/notes to your recipes and track your submitted professions

Usage

/tradeshare [ list | clear ]
default: Opens TradeShare bulk-post window and prints usage information
list: Lists all the tradelinks that have been collected since startup
clear: Clears the list of collected tradelinks

Bulk Posting
  1. Type "/tradeshare" within World of Warcraft to bring up the TradeShare posting window
  2. Wait for tradelinks to be posted on the guild or trade channel
  3. Once you have collected all your data, press "CTRL-c" to copy the generated text
  4. Open your web browser and navigate to wowtradeshare.com/share
  5. Follow the instructions to post all the professions for your guild online
  6. NOTE: If you logout and forget to post its okay, tradelinks that are collected will be cached for 72 hours

Individual Posting
  1. To use TradeShare simply open the tradeskill window of the profession that you intend to share
  2. Click the "share" button that appears in the upper left hand corner of the window
  3. A window will appear giving you detailed instructions for how to post to our site
  4. Copy the link using "CTRL-c"
  5. Open your web browser and paste the link in your browser's address bar

We appreciate your feedback. Send feature requests and bug reports to [email protected]

Re: Missing strings in language files

Contiki,

I know it has been almost a year since you posted this but I figured I would let you know that I finally addressed all of your i18n comments. What can I say, it's been a hectic year. Cheers,

Greetings,

now that wowtradeshare.com uses the German language file I've noticed missing strings on the site. Here's what remains English-only or looks kinda wrong:
  • The FAQ isn't yet translatable
  • The "Recent posts" column on the home page uses English-only profession names
  • Search and the auto-completion feature accept only English terms
  • The footer says, "Design by Karnal and Grunkalunca" where the and isn't translatable
  • When viewing a single recipe the profession name is always English
  • When mousing over a recipe's name for example in the search results the text "more/less" appears, so far that's untranslatable, too
  • Checking the list of players who can craft an item shows a button always labeled "View", so far untranslatable
  • Clicking the View button always loads the recipe's English version instead of the correct language version
  • The string "We are constantly working to improve this site and appreciate" has the always-English term feedback appearing right behind it. Feedback should ideally be translatable, too.
Could you consider incorporating these changes into the language files?

All the best

Addon/Site Updated v1.2.1

The addon has been updated to support a 72 hour caching mechanism for tradelinks collected from chat. This gives users that logout before posting a chance to post again and reminds them at login if they have anything to post. It also keeps tradelinks that are cached from becoming stale by removing them if they are over three days old.

WowTradeShare has been updated to include a "profession" button next to each player's recipes in the search results. This links to a detailed list of all the recipes a player does and doesn't have. This includes the TradeSkillLink index, recipe index, recipe name, and an indicator of whether the player has the recipe or not.

Re: Missing strings in language files

As always, thanks for all the great feedback. Also, thanks for officially translating wowtradeshare.com into German Contiki! That is huge! I will work on adding more translation strings as soon as I can.

I have been working on providing JSON data for populating widgets on Guild sites as of late. Currently if you go to http://wowtradeshare.com/guild/ you will get a listing of realms and corresponding IDs in JSON. If you continue to append IDs onto the URL you get more JSON data such that "/guild/realmId/guildId/professionId/recipeId" returns a list of players that can craft an item. For example, here is a list of all the players in my guild that make "Adept's Elixir" http://wowtradeshare.com/guild/1/1/1/33740/.

I am hoping that others will be able to use the JSON data to display their guild member data. I will be writing a widget soon, probably in javascript, that others can use as a starting point for getting TradeShare data on their guild sites.

3.3.3 and i18n

Wowtradeshare.com has been updated to have the latest 3.3.3 patch recipes. A language selection mechanism has been also been added for German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Thanks for the support. Keep those ideas coming! This site wouldn't be nearly as nice without all the great inputs.

Cheers

The beta site has been updated to include item/tooltip translations from wowhead. More of the site has been updated to have translations. The translations are a bit rough but I do appreciate any feedback.

Here are the latest dictionaries:
German:http://beta.wowtradeshare.com/media/locale/de.po
French:http://beta.wowtradeshare.com/media/locale/fr.po
Spanish:http://beta.wowtradeshare.com/media/locale/es.po
Italian:http://beta.wowtradeshare.com/media/locale/it.po

Please send corrected dictionaries to [email protected]. Thanks for all your input.

Support for French, German, Spanish, and Italian

I am attempting to add localization to wowtradeshare.com and we now have a language selector option on http://beta.wowtradeshare.com

Any feedback is appreciated. If you have translations for my awful machine generated translations just send them to [email protected].

Next, I will be concentrating on the wowhead translations for the site content. Thanks for the support everyone.

Addon/Website Updated

//edit: on a side note, I've been using the add-on Gnomish Yellow Pages for quite some time. Whenever it sees a tradeskill link in a chat channel, it'll remember it. By now I've got quite a good overview of what players of all professions are able to craft on my realm. I'm thinking about uploading at least some of their tradeskill links to wowtradeshare.com, to kick-start the page a little with data. However, I wouldn't like the page to credit me for all those tradeskill links. Will the parsing logic be able to detect each player and guild correctly? Or will it look like everything I post is craftable by me?
Download the new addon and post from the trade channel anonymously to your hearts content. It will store the names of the individuals as they post. As such, copying GYP links to a channel observed by my addon with have them coming from you which is bad. It might be possible for us to start parsing their data that they store. Just an idea...

AH, and the site has been revamped. Hopefully searches are more pleasant now. Later,

i18n and trade channel inputs

At some point I plan on adding internationalization support to our site. Adding it in right now might be a little premature. There is a laundry list of other things that are currently needed for the site/addon. That said, i have been trying to collect feedback from people using our uservoice forum. If you have any suggestions please submit them at http://wowtradeshare.uservoice.com or click the bright red "FEEDBACK" tab on our site. This way, we can get a barometer on prioritizing new functionality.

Our original thoughts on posting information to the site was that users would consensually post their own data. Then we added the ability for users to post for their entire guild to make it easier (but still consensual). That said, the site becomes somewhat useless without data.

It would be simple enough to modify our addon to scan the trade channel so that users can start populating the site with data from the trade channels of their own realms. In fact, the format for our links is fairly straight forward and if other addon authors (i.e. Gnomish Yellow Pages) want to post to our site that is perfect.

I will start playing around with the trade channel option soon. Right now we are working on getting our search to display results in a more presentable way.

BTW, we are always trying out new things at http://beta.wowtradeshare.com.

Hi there,

I'd like to advertise the site every now and then to players on my realm, seeing that it fulfills the need for an out-of-game searchable profession database quite nicely. I'm sure other players would welcome this, too. However, on a non-English realm like mine I'm hesitant to do so much as mention the site, seeing that a fair amount of players may be unwilling or unable to jump through hoops language-wise.

I'd like to see the place fully localized, like for example Wowhead. Do you have any plans for translating wowtradeshare.com, thus making it more accessible?

All the best!

Server update to address profession/locale issues

I updated the profession logic to use the ID of the profession instead of the name on the server side. Hopefully this should address any locale issues posters have been having. Thanks the for input Contiki!

Hi there,

thanks for adding support for elemental leatherworking. As for the other translations I think one of the fastest and most reliable ways to get them is the LibBabble-Inventory-3.0 localization page at WoWAce which has all the relevant strings properly translated.

Maybe you can even go so far as to download the add-on and parse the content of LibBabble-Inventory-3.0.lua to get translations; that'd make it a piece of cake. Well, sort of ;-)

All the best

In that case, "Lederverarbeitung", which the website doesn't seem to recognize. Even manually changing the tradeskill in the string generated by the add-on to "leatherworking" doesn't do the trick.

Anything I can do to upload data from a non-English client?
Thanks for the feedback. I just added in "Elementarlederverarbeitung" translation server side and it seems to work. Here is a filtered search for your profession:
http://www.wowtradeshare.com/filtere...Leatherworking

Is there anyway you can provide german translations for the other professions? I would like to add them in until I figure out a better way. Thanks for the feedback.
