EmoteLDB  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2020.11.20.6
by: Cilraaz [More]

UPDATE: This addon is now being managed via CurseForge. I will attempt to keep this addon updated here also. If there is ever a doubt, you can download the absolute latest version here.

Overview

Welcome to EmoteLDB! This is a DataBroker port of my old addon, EmoteFu. It is meant to give players an easily accessible menu of emotes. The emotes have been sorted by category (ie. Friendly", "Hostile", etc) to make it quite simple to quickly access the emote you want. Emotes can end up in more than one category, where applicable (ie. /dance can be found in "Happy" and "Affection").

Emotes in the list are colorized and marked with a label (A, V, AV) if they are Animated, Voice, or Both.

It is also possible to add your own custom emotes! To do so, simply edit the EmoteData.lua file. You will want to match the format exactly or that mod may no longer function! If that occurs, just replace the EmoteData.lua with a good copy from the zip.

Dependencies

This addon has no external dependencies, but does work best with a LibDataBroker display addon, such as Docking Station. In the absence of such an addon, it will operate from a minimap icon.

Known Bugs

There are no known issues at this time.

If you find a bug, please submit a ticket via the CurseForge Ticket System.

To-Do

Localization framework has been added in version 40300-2.0!
  • Localization strings are now needed!
    • Strings to translate are available in localization.lua.
    • If a string looks like L["Some String"] = true, then "Some String" is what needs translated
    • If a string looks like L["Some String"] = "String text", then "String text" is what needs translated
    • In the emote strings, anything in <> (ie. Target, He, She, etc) MUST remain as is for the addon to work. It is translated elsewhere.
    • Please submit translations via a CurseForge ticket.
Feedback

Any bug reports or feature requests should be made via the CurseForge Ticket System

You know, there was a BossPanel version back before it became FuBar, and Dsanai (the guy who wrote the Titan version) wasn't too happy that noone asked him first. You might wanna run this by him :P

I did send him a PM and have not gotten a response as of yet. If he wants, I suppose the Admins can remove the mod.

On a side note, I'm aware that a few of the emotes aren't working properly. They'll be fixed soon, hopefully.

Version 0.1.1 - All Emotes Working

As per the update notes above, the emote issue has been fixed. Some of the emotes have multiple "slash commands" (ie. /silly and /joke do the same thing) and were being passed incorrectly. All emotes included now work perfectly.

Version 0.1.2

Another updated version. As stated in the change log above, this version adds a the ability to toggle whether the emote's slash command is shown as a prefix to the emote in the menu. For instance, the emote for goodbye would look like this when the feature is on:

/goodbye: You wave goodbye to everyone. Farewell! [AV]

A custom emote would be similar, but with "Custom: " in front of the emote.

I would definitely be willing to add the German translation, as well as add you as the translator.

Please notice that 0.1.3 (last version) archive patch is broken, Directory isn't created by extracting.

I'm very slowly working on a Fr translation of emoteFu, will send it as soon as it will be finished.

Change the RAR to a ZIP as your older versions were, please. Not everyone has WinRAR or a free program that contains RAR support. It also creates problems when sorting through mods on the user end. 99% of mods come as ZIPs. Not to mention, WinRAR allows you to create ZIPs, so really no reason to have this as a RAR.

This request is coming from someone who has both WinRAR & the free 7-zip , so is not a "please help me" thing; I'm looking out for other users .

Yeah, I had noticed I did it in a RAR after I upped it. I just got a new PC and hadn't put WinZip on it yet, heh. I thought I re-upped a ZIP copy of it. I'll do that now.

Error

I love this mod, makes it nice and easy to send custom emotes, but I notice when I am on my male warlock and use the (Hostile) introduce to his blade emote it will come across in game as "introduce to her blade". It is right on the menu, just gets printed out in game wrong, this is the only emote I have this issue with as well.

Thanks

This was a bug in 0.1.3 (not really a bug, just Blizzard changed their gender codes). Somehow it popped back up in 0.1.4. It's now corrected in 0.1.5.

Updated to FuBar 2.0

EmoteFu has been updated to FuBar 2.0/Ace2. It seems to work fine for me with both Ace 1.3 and FuBar-compat-1.2 disabled. If there are any issues, please let me know.
