Archaeology Helper  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.91
by: biasha [More]

  • Draws HUD with GatherMate2 pins, you can use minimap zoom on it if needed
  • After Survey you press green, yellow or red button to add new sector to the HUD (cleared automaticaly on gathering)
  • Shows Dig Sites on Minimap and Battlefield Minimap
  • Keybindings and various settings

How to use

Go to dig site, Right Click last button (spade) to show HUD and Left Click to cast Survay. Then ROTATE YOUR CHAR, BUT DON'T MOVE in the needed direction and press colored button according to Survey result. Move to other location, do same again.
It is strongly recommended to use GatherMate2 then you'll see all previous or imported dig-points on the HUD. When using GatherMate2 jump onto fragment before gathering!

Controls

Left Click main window to move it
Right Click main window: opens settings page

Left Click on colored buttons: adds new sector to the HUD
Right Click on colored buttons: temporarry hides/shows that color

Arrow button: undo 1 sector

Left Click spade: cast Survey
Right Click spade: shows/hides HUD in the center of the screen
Middle Click spade: open Archaeolodgy window

Use "/arh" or "/arhcfg" for command line help

HUD

On the HUD you can also see player arrow in the center and very small red circle that represents success range. And ofc all colored transperent overlaping areas that were set by you with colored buttons.
Green compass circle can be removed in settings. it's totaly useless actually.

TODO

Next will be:
  • Independent zoom by mouse wheel on main window
  • Automatic color buttons, if possible

After Next:
  • Pointer to closest digsite
  • Will think about own polygon drawing
  • Auto-open inside digsite, if possible
  • Think about localization maybe

Nifty add-on but I think I've got something configured incorrectly. I have it, GatherMate2, and GatherMate2 Data installed. I've imported Archaeology nodes in GatherMate2. But I still can't see any circles / nodes within this add-on when I survey and click the R/Y/G buttons. I do have the HUD turned on.

Did I miss something? Are there known conflicts with other add-ons?

Thanks!

Any plans to make an LDB that can integrate with this addon? Would love to be able to easily toggle it on/off.

Has anyone noticed lately, I'm not sure if it's from a recent patch or it may be from the addon Carbonite, but the green compass HUD and the r/y/g blobs get WAY oversized, like they take up my full screen? I can try it without Carbonite and see what happens...

EDIT: Seems to be a bug when used with Carbonite.

Great addon! Couple suggestions:

1. Option for turning off tooltips on the little bar that has the buttons.

2. Associate a mount that would automatically be cast when clicking color buttons (maybe just red and yellow?).

Two options I will honestly beg for...

1) Ability to toggle on/off certain buttons (to conserve real-estate)
2) Ability to dim/hide background and frame

Great news! Perhaps a minimap button or (preferrably) a LDB toggle in the short term if #1 is proving to be harder than expected?

The only thing I don't like is that the main bar is up all the time. A few ideas (without looking to see how hard they are):

1. Only show the bar if I'm inside a known digsite area (red zone)
2. Give me a minimap to show/hide the main bar
3. Give me a keybind to show/hide the main bar

With any of them, I would make it so that if it is unlocked I it is always visible.

NICE WORK!

Cooldown

Excellent, excellent. This addon keeps getting better with every update.

One suggestion? Could you put a cooldown timer on the survey tool? (I've removed the survey tool from my action bars since I use the addon one now.) The reason being this addon lets me survey so efficiently I'm often times resurveying before the cooldown's up. (Plus my habit of placing a second survey if the first turns up red.)

I'm probably poking at a beehive with a stick, but would it be possible to, when more than one zone is painted, to remove the non-intersecting parts of the overlay? So we only end up seeing, perhaps the latest full arc and the intersecting parts of the previous surveys.

And also, on that note, perhaps cut off the arc if it exceeds the archaeology zone?

I understand that this will involve ridiculous maths, but it'd be awesome to have implemented.
Already answered here before. Math does not scary me, but blizzard does not offer any poligon drawing functions. So need to draw myself and that looks too hard. At least for now.

Really like this addon--thanks! Also, the shaded area outside of the minimap bothered me at first, until I realized that it actually aided me in navigating to the right area.
