ShinyBuffs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.2.2a
by: Seerah [More]

Features:

  • skin buffs/debuffs
  • move buffs/debuffs
  • change colors, texures, and font
  • able to use class colors (with support for !ClassColors and CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS)
  • change size of buffs/debuffs independently
  • debuff icons are shaded by debuff type (temporary enchant icons shaded tench color, too)
  • option to display debuff type as border instead of icon shading **new
  • change the number of buffs per row
  • able to switch to all white duration text
  • option to show who your buff is from (only works with valid unitIDs, not some random passerby or guildie not in your party)
See the screenshots for some examples!

Limitations:
These are just the regular, old Blizzard buffs - but prettier! As such, you CAN cancel buffs during combat! However, you cannot rearrange the buffs, filter buffs, etc. The buffs/debuffs are also not movable independently - it's the standard layout, though you can change their sizes to make debuffs more visible in addition to changing where they're all anchored.

Also, the timer bar does not currently move for temporary enchants - it stays at 1. I may figure out a way to put that in in the future, but the API for temporary enchants isn't as friendly as that for normal buffs.

optional question

Safest way to move the "time displayed " from within icon to below icon?

I'm not running any addons that should interfere with the buff icons, maybe Stuf Unit Frames at most?
Disable all addons and then try again.

Oops, had moved it to a new line and commented out the local for debugging in-game, then forgot to move it back. >.<

Edit: Also question, does this work for moving the consolidated debuffs frame as well?
(would test myself but it's hard to get a group at this hour )
It moves the everything: consolidated buffs, tench, and debuffs included.

Was looking for an addon to move (and optionally skin) my default buff/debuff frames and came across this one.

SB seems a little risky to have as a global.
If it's needed to be global maybe something a little more unique would be in order? (like ShinyBuffs)

Hey,

great add-on but it seems to interfere with Titan Panel:

[08:57] Titan: Error: Titan could not initialize!!!! Cleaning up...
[08:57] Titan: Error: --Interface\AddOns\ShinyBuffs\ShinyBuffs.lua:246: attempt to index upvalue 'db' (a nil value)

Also, the anchor/mover seems to provide wrong x/y values. If I drag it in the upper left corner, x=10 and y=-10 which is surely wrong if you anchored the buffs top right.

And is there a way to set the starting point for growing the window? I.e. if I have the buffs anchored top left, I want additional buffs to be added to the right of the existing buffs, not to the left (basically make it so the buff window can grow up/down and left/right as per settings).

Thanks!

Yes, you do indeed have another addon interfering. Though I'm not sure how, since I thought I had SB coded to avoid that.

My first guess would be SpartanUI or MoveAnything. If, after disabling those, the problem lies with another addon then you might need to disable a chunk of your adddons and try again. If the problem still persists, then re-enable those and disable a different chunk.

  3. Are you consolidating your buffs?
  4. If it's easy to test, does the same thing occur with only ShinyBuffs enabled?

I'm trying to figure out why they might be moving back... In my ShinyBuffs code, I even overwrite the regular :SetPoint function for the BuffFrame...
1) Yes, random HoT Dungeon through the Dungeon Finder
2) Let's say that I'm in Orgrimmar and the buff/debuff frame is where I want it. My random dungeon pops and I ready up. The instance loads and when it's done loading the buffs have moved to the Blizzard default location. I tried moving them back down (while in the instance) but it seems to ignore the anchor altogether while I'm in the instance. Then, I complete the instance and leave the group and I'm back in Orgrimmar with the buffs exactly where I wanted them.
3) Yes, I am consolidating my buffs.
4) I will disable every single AddOn I have except ShinyBuffs and see if it happens. Stay tuned for an answer soon.

*Update* I disabled every AddOn except ShinyBuffs and it didn't move to the default location! Does that mean I have an AddOn that is conflicting with ShinyBuffs?

*Update2* I re-enable my AddOns and tried again and it moved to the default location. I will get a list of my AddOns together and post them here so we can try to figure out the culprit.
