GathererDB WoWHead  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0.2013-06-15
by: Esamynn, dinesh, MentalPower, Nechckn, Norganna, norganna_uploader

WoWInterface is happy to announce that we have teamed up with Wowhead and the Norganna's AddOns Gatherer team to provide you with an exclusive downloadable Wowhead database for display in-game by Gatherer.

This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.

Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.

How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:

  • Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
  • Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
  • Click the import button in the main panel.

Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.

Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.

About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.

About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.

Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Updated to support Gatherer 4.0.4.

19 DEC 2010 Updated the node list and have included what data is available for the gigantic changes seen in WoW 4.x.

09 DEC 2009 Updated to the most recent set of nodes and updated TOC for WoW 3.3

05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.

04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.

Turned out to be the HUD. I've been using gatherer for several months and I've never seen this. It IS a part of the gatherer install though. If this is off by default why would adding the DB suddenly activate it (assuming that's what happened)?

Hiya Ciber,

The GathererDB_Wowhead does not modify any of the Gatherer-specific settings.

Cannot really say how that became active on your local system, but, as you found, it is pretty easy to deactivate if you do not want/like it.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Itanius,

As long as you have 3.1.9 of Gatherer, then, the only real possibility is something happening with the SavedVariables, as noted below.

Look at those settings and see that they are set correctly.

Let us know,

Ok, so I've narrowed down the problem. The issue is that the node data for Northrend isn't saving. I tested this with my priest herbologist and my rogue with treasure tracking. I can see nodes in all zones except those in Northrend. They show up immediately after an import, but they don't persist.

Edit: My own gathers in Northrend don't persist, either.

Cannot import database..

I have been searching for... an hour.

There is no 'tab' to import a database within the Gatherer UI or HUD. I have checked all areas, no red tab, I have searched and read every checkbox and slider, no import is mentioned at all.

I have all addons enabled, gatherer, HUD, swatter, and sliders.

This is EXTREMELY frustrating since it is listed as 'simple' to do. The option is not there. Did 3.0.8 break this?

Patch 3.0.8 Node Name Changes

Gatherers,

We are aware of the change, and affected by the results in-game, the same as everyone.

Keep an eye out for an updated version as soon as our volunteers are able to get the data and put it together. Hopefully a few new nodes, too.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Don't get me wrong. I love gatherer, its like... the most amazing program ever designed and it keeps us wow addicts in the monies. But. There seems to be some problems since patch 3.0.8, gatherer keeps resetting the database, so I have to keep importing it and this in turn deletes the nodes I found. I dont know whats going on. I can simply login and the DB seems to have been removed from gatherer. A simple reimport works for a little while, but then it simple does it again and again and its getting a little frustrating. Any ideas on what's causing it? And if theres anything I can do or try to stop it. Feel free to suggest

Keep up the good work though, I am sure everything will sort itself out. And remember, patch 3.0.9 is deployed tonight

Re: W00t

Rondros

Gatherer, itself, nor the DB will cause that behavior.

Either your Gatherer.lua or the SavedVariables directory within ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<Your_WoW_Account_Name> is almost assuredly set to read only or your local computer account is not the owner, et cetera.

If you have MS Windows Vista, keep in mind that Blizz moved the directories from C:\ProgramFiles to \public\games\World of Warcraft , so be sure to make any changes/check permissions there.

Let us know of your findings,

Nikk

Prismatech,

Since it's all done by UnitID, the current database should function fine with Gatherer.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

Re: help

JDizzle,

Gatherer, and the GathererDB_Wowhead, shows you the location where herb, ore, and treasure nodes are located.

The only way to know if a node is active at a given time, is to go near and see if the yellow dot appears. That is a Blizzard restriction/requirement over which we have no control.

The pattern of nodes going "active" varies by zone and item type, so there is no way to estimate which will be active at a given time.

Happy Gatherering,

Nikk

frustration with northrend

I have gatherer 3.1.11 and the latest download of the gathererdb_wowhead or whichever the name is. when I do database imports, every other type of node shows up fine except northrend ones - herbalism or mining. The old world and BC stuff shows up and has a source of DB:Wowhead - but NOTHING northrend shows up except the ones I've mined myself or gotten as shares from guildmates.

I find it hard to believe that the db has no northrend nodes in it, especially after seeing the comments in changelog about how they fixed the new ID number problem - so what gives?
