Mapster  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.11.0
by: Nevcairiel [More]

Mapster is a very simple world map enhacement addon, which was designed to work in conjunction with all other map addons out there. The idea to create Mapster originated from pure lack of a simplistic addon that only modifies the world map, without adding a full scale feature set.

Features

  • Map Style (Scale & Alpha)
  • Coordinates
  • Fog of War removal
  • Enhancement of the raid/party group icons

You can access the Mapster configuration menu through the new button on the world map, as shown in the screenshot.
All features (except the style) can be turned off individually if you do not need/want them.

If you're looking for a replacement to Cartographer, i also recommend the following addons:

Mapster
1.11.0 (2023-11-28)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
  • Add 10.2 FogClear data
  • Disable multi-version packages
  • Remove Classic support
Maintaining Classic support has become a huge burden for this mod, since
it is designed to modify the Blizzard UI, and the UI diverges even
further between Retail and the different Classic variants with every
    update.
Hence, I rather focus my efforts on Retail, and other mods.

Nev,

It's worth noting that if you open the map immediately after logging in, the QH button shows up fine after a second or two. If you wait about 5 seconds or more after logging and I suspect you'll not see the button either. This might explain why it's working fine for you.

Sadly, Mapnotes is no longer being maintained. It was one of my favorites back in the day when I was a young dwarf and the world was new. So many places and things to remember.

Re: Replacing Cartographer

It's the level range text that appeared when hovering over zones. It would also be useful to have this added to the end of the zone names in the zone drop-down list. Then it would be visible for the current zone as well. Any chance of giving this a go?
Also, for people who want to replace the old Cartographer notes module, you could point them in the direction of HandyNotes. I particularly love the EveryQuest extension to it that displays the quest giver icon for every quest you haven't yet completed. Very useful for obtaining the Loremaster achievement!
If you need the level ranges, use Cromulent

EDIT:
Calling wmfOnShow manually like in the patch before still fixes it for you? I guess there is no harm in doing so.
That does appear to be the case for me, at least. 1.3.3 normal screws up the button, adding the wmfOnShow line makes it show up properly.

That should be easy, will try to remember it.

That should also not be too hard, i guess. Will see how it goes.

That doesnt belong in Mapster, and will never go in there.

Thats something Atlas itself should do, not Mapster. Nothing is really stopping it from doing it right now. Afterall Mapster just modifys the default map, if somethign works with blizzards map, it should work with Mapster too.

If you want to make sure i don't forget, post the feature requests on WoWAce in the Ticket Tracker --> http://www.wowace.com/addons/mapster/tickets/

I can turn off the clamp to screen, i guess. Or at least make it an option.

Re: Compiled list of Feature Requests

-Scaling of Blizzard #s.
Done in 1.3.3
-Show subZone along with Zone in the Top Bar.
That should be easy, will try to remember it.
-Shift-Click #s on Map to Track / unTrack Quests in Objectives Tracker.
That should also not be too hard, i guess. Will see how it goes.
-Implementation of Cart_QuestInfo. or similar design.
That doesnt belong in Mapster, and will never go in there.
-Ability to load Atlas Dungeon Maps for Classic Instances or perhaps a way for someone to create a module to add those maps inside of Mapster when in a Classic / BC Dungeon.
Thats something Atlas itself should do, not Mapster. Nothing is really stopping it from doing it right now. Afterall Mapster just modifys the default map, if somethign works with blizzards map, it should work with Mapster too.

Compiled list of Feature Requests

Mapster is becoming quite the popular piece of necessary equipment. Here's a quick list of features both myself and several others have posted here and on other sites discussing Mapster.

-Scaling of Blizzard #s.
-Show subZone along with Zone in the Top Bar.
-Shift-Click #s on Map to Track / unTrack Quests in Objectives Tracker.
-Implementation of Cart_QuestInfo. or similar design.
-Ability to load Atlas Dungeon Maps for Classic Instances or perhaps a way for someone to create a module to add those maps inside of Mapster when in a Classic / BC Dungeon.

I can live with or without everything above, but those are the things I think will make Mapster unstoppable when it comes to Map AddOns (although I think it's already the best out there, lol).

I think I found a fix for the QuestHelper/Mapster conflict.

I don't seem to have any trouble opening my map in combat after making this change, so that fix should still be okay.
