Odie's FPS Optimizer

Version: Alpha1
by: HirogenYao-Odie [More]

What is Odie's FPS Optimizer?
This addon will ensure your FPS is optimized by changing around certain graphics settings. Basically, it will make the graphics as fancy as possible, without you having the fps lags.

Sounds pretty cool! What can i do to help?
Try and run this addon on your system. Make sure it has something to do by cranking up stuff like anti-alias or anistrophic filtering. Not to mention, post a comment if you have a suggestion, found a bug, or have some sort of compaint

What kinda stuff can i expect soon?

  • A GUI to setup some of the stuff
  • More graphics that can be changed around

But to many things keep changing, what I'm seeing the most is the grass density increasing and decreasing and alot of high and low gamma changes... Its to the point were its not smooth game play, but very... clumsy... It's basically pausing and playing every second.

I'm sure it has something to do with my system, it might work better on others, but I wont be using it. The idea is intelligent, and useful as long as the changes that are being made to the game are not so sudden...

I think what's happening is when the addon looks at the FPS and its at 30, its thinking... Lower the graphics to boost it up, and then the FPS goes up the addon is thinking boost up the graphics... Its in a loop, but I might be wrong, I never made an addon before so you might know more then me... Anyways, good luck with this project and I hope to use it one day with some good results.
im updating a similar addon and the problem is that certain graphic values like shadow or grass density cause severe lags when changing them dynamically. there are also other things that i cant remember right now but each value should be tested separately.

@HirogenYao-Odie: FarClip, HorizonFarClipScale, EnvironmentDetail, ParticleDensity are pretty much the only values that are working without getting lags. there also was a problem on my old system that when the FarClip value changed to fast i would get reloading screens when comming to a populated area. not sure if that is still the case since i cant test it with a slow system...

that's pretty much the gist of it
Settings handled by the addon are farclip( view distance), shadows and the envoirement detail thingies.
