Stomped Shear

A bunch of tank stats to know directly on your interface how well are you standing against a NPC in a fight and to detect in real time how your buffs/debuffs and healing/damage taken are affecting you.

Pre-Release Status
This is a pre-release aimed for testing (Feedback is welcome!). However, as far as I know it's stable and works well in almost all situations.

LibDataBroker Plug-In
You will need a display addon compatible with Data Broker (LDB) to get the data provided by Stomped Shear shown on your interface. Since Stomped Shear creates a lot of displays I recommend using ButtonBin. It has one of the best methods to group LDB displays and organize them on your interface.
Other examples of LDB display addons are: Fortress, Titan Panel, StatBlockCore, MakeRocketGoNow, Carousel or FuBar+Broker2FuBar.

Tank Stats
Stomped Shear provides some stats related to tanks and each of them is shown on an individual LDB display. Therefore, it's possible to choose which stats would you like to have on your interface, where will they be and how will they look like.

The stats provided by Stomped Shear are:

  1. Health, Armor and Resistance related: Health, Max health, Armor, Mitigation from Armor, Elemental Resistance, Mitigation from Resistance, Effective Health.
  2. Your Combat Table: your Miss chance, your Dodge chance, your Parry chance, your Block chance, target's Crit chance, target's Crushing chance and target's Hit chance.
  3. Target's Combat Table: target's Miss chance, target's Dodge chance, target's Parry chance, your Glancing chance, your Crit chance and your Hit chance.
  4. Combat Table Bars: Your Combat Table and Target's Combat Table stats summarized in a display with a colored bar.
  5. Taken Meters: Damage Taken per Second, Healing Taken per Second, Time Left.

Stats Features (Not every stat has all the features)
  • Enemy level matters: The calculations take into account your current target level. Therefore, you can see how your dodge varies between a fight against Gamon or Patchwerk, for example. (If you have no target your current level is used instead.)
  • Buffed/Debuffed Coloring: Some stats will be colored depending on your character's auras. Stats in green mean that they are currently being buffed by your auras and stats in red mean that they are currently being debuffed.
  • Death Warning Highlight: Health and Time Left displays will become red if you are almost dying.
  • Taken Meters Coloring: DTPS and HTPS displays will be green if the healing received is higher than the damage received, otherwise, they will be red.
  • Current Combat Statistic: Some stats will have an arrow icon on their right side (look at the first screenshot). That indicates if the real average of that stat for the current fight is over or below the calculated value shown on the display.
  • Informative Tooltips: Each stat has an informative tooltip showing detailed information about it:
    • Tank abilities have information about what is contributing to them. Including diminishing returns information on Miss, Dodge and Parry.
    • Combat table bars have information about the resulting probability of each attack.
    • DTPS/HTPS have a list of last met attackers/healers and they respective DTPS/HTPS caused on average to you.
    • Time Left shows the percentage of health to which is calculating time.

Localization
The current version of Stomped Shear is localized in English and Spanish. However, it should work on any other localization.

Known Issues
Circumstances that could cause an unexpected behavior of Stomped Shear:
  • Greater Blessing of Kings: Stomped Shear doesn't know how to differentiate if a GBoK or an Improved GBoK has been applied to the player. Therefore, it assumes that it will be the improved one.
  • Bear Forms + Gift/Mark of the Wild: Casting a G/MotW while in (Dire) Bear Form will produce a bad representation of the buffed/debuffed stats (green/red coloring) in Stomped Shear. This is caused because the game updates the player stats only one time and not first when the shapeshift form is removed and another time when the aura is gained.

- Bug fix: Time Left display should show appropriate values while receiving more heal than damage.

- Bug fix: Survival of the Fittest was checked but not taken into account.

- Removed the necessity to calculate base armor item values.

v0.9.3 26/04/2009:
- First 3.1 compliant release.
- Bug fix: No more negative values on mitigation tooltips.
- Bug fix: NPCs with an undefined name will not cause an error.

v0.9.2 20/03/2009:
- Stomped Shear is now lag aware. This should improve its behaviour on laggy situations.
- DTPS and HTPS realtime stat calculation slightly modified, now works over a period of time where the exponential moving average is calculated. This value can be set by the user.
- A list of last met attackers and healers and they respective DTPS or HTPS average over the whole combat added to DTPS and HTPS tooltips. This list length can be set by the user.
- Tooltip reformat to remove new lines (|n) from localization files.
- Bug fix: Workaround to solve a bug caused by not getting aura events when entering a portal added.
- Bug fix: Coloring Reset button should now restore Stomped Shear correctly after a "Disconnected from server" + having a GBoK.

I wonder if u have any plans on expanding the "Time To Live" thingy ?
It would be really nice to be able to add my own countdowns, like "Time to 10k hp" or "Time to a 10k deficit". I play as a pala, so it would be quite smooth to be able to time my heals better.

Just a comment about calculating the base armor of an item using its item level. It's not as easy as I thought, the formula pre-BC was linear and with known parameters, now in WotLK it seems to be a quadratic equation but it isn't accurately enough determined yet.

So at the end I have implemented a workaround to avoid the necessity of knowing item's base armor values.

Hello again. I'm writing just to say that I'm back and I will try to Update Stomped Shear as soon as possible

@Zidomo: I know that Stomped Shear provides a lot of displays (and too much of them perhaps) but putting the data on tooltips doesn't serve the purpose of this addon. I made this addon basically to have a on-screen advise of my stats, to know if a mob is sundering me or whatever that reduce my stats. Having this information hidden in a tooltip would break the utility of this addon.

A couple of comments on your mention of (Dire) Bear Form and Frost presence.
The first is that base armor is solely determined on item level. If an item has buffed armor, you can determine that by subtracting it from the base armor.

Also, you'll want to make sure Toughness (+10% Armor) talents are handled correctly. They do not multiply bonus armor levels, either.

Fine idea. And nice you are using LibStatLogic-1.1 for the main data. That way, you don't need to be concerned with changes to tank stats every WoW patch; the lib authors are the ones handling it.

One major usability issue, though. Having every stat in its own LDB display (block/icon/whatever) is way, way too much. People have limited space on their screens; why fill it up with data that can just as easily be provided all-in-one in a tooltip?

As it is, I just don't have space on my screen for all the LDB blocks this provides for the data I want to have availible (am using the StatBlockCore LDB display). So unfortunately have to use another mod that provides tanking stats in a more manageable fashion (in a tooltip).

Many modern LDB mods use LibQTip-1.0 and/or LibQTipClick-1.1 to provide tooltip functionality. Might be worth looking into for your next release.

I'm sorry but I will be out of my country for some time so don't expect new releases for a while. I have not been able to test the Blizz Gear Manager yet

@SqueeG: You are right, that would be nice and at some point I will make it into modules. But is not an easy work so I will leave this as a last in line feature

@shinchih2001: You can take the enUS localization file, copy it and translate all the english sentences that are inside that file.

Was just taking a look at the innards tonight. You may want to break the addon up into separate module files for easier maintenance and possibly even user removal of parts they don't necessarily want.

Just a thought. =)

Would it be feasible to allow DTPS stats to stick until the next fight? So you can take a look at your avg after the mayhem?
