Low Level Quest Icon Colors

Version: 8.1.5
by: Ammako [More]

With 7.0.3, Blizzard has changed things so that low-level quests icons on the map appear as darker and greyed out compared to other quests.

This can be a problem. Depending on the area you are in, it can make seeing quest icons on the map unnecessarily tedious.
This add-on changes the icons back to the same colorful ones that at-level quests use. Works for both daily and regular quests.

Note: this will not work in conjunction with any other add-on that also replaces the minimap blip texture.

This addon is installed by extracting the Interface folder to the root of your WoW folder, not the AddOns folder.

If you uninstall this add-on, it may be worth running the following command after removing the add-on:

/run Minimap:SetBlipTexture("Interface\\Minimap\\ObjectIconsAtlas.blp")

Forgot that toc was a thing

Patch 8.1

Any ETA on updating with all the UI overhauls from patch 8.1? Addon's pretty much useless currently.

Well, it's weird.

Having ObjectIconsAtlas.tga at Interface\minimap and using /run Minimap:SetBlipTexture("Interface\\Minimap\\ObjectIconsAtlas.tga") changes both the minimap icons and the world map icons, but when the file is in Interface\AddOns\LowLevelQuestIconColors and I use Minimap:SetBlipTexture("Interface\\AddOns\\LowLevelQuestIconColors\\ObjectIconsAtlas") (the exact same thing the addon does), only the minimap icons change, even though I use the exact same file and the exact same command. The only difference is that, in the former example, the file is in the same folder and using the same file name as the client's ObjectIconsAtlas.blp, while in the latter, the file is in the addon's folder.

It turns out I can't even get the texture to auto-load when converted to .blp and placing it in Interface\minimap either, but I can get it to work by placing it there and then calling Minimap:SetBlipTexture(). I guess that will be the solution for now, but I imagine it may not be intended and could be fixed in the future.

edit: for some reason, placing the texture at Interface\minimap and just calling Minimap:SetBlipTexture() at all makes the world map icons change... even if the path given is incorrect. So I guess it's just calling that function at all that somehow forces the world map to start using the custom textures.

I just remembered I was supposed to look into this.

Have you actually tried the addon? It already handles this, it turns out.

Also I'm going to keep doing it through the lua method like I already am, because replacing the texture in the folders requires re-converting back to .blp which I've found is prone to errors, so I'll just stick to .tga and doing it this way.

Should be doable, it's just a texture.

Also I'll probably change this to just a plain texture file that you drop into WoW folder to replace textures, rather than doing it via lua. That'll be much more straightforward and be one less addon for people to have to load, lol.
