Sprocket  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.9.6
by: Dreyruugr [More]

A flexible marking menu interface for World of Warcraft.

What is a Marking Menu?
A marking menu, or "pie menu", is a radial menu designed for speed and efficiency. The menu is always displayed around the current cursor position, meaning minimal movement is required to access it. Think of the menu as a pie, and each item on the menu as a slice of that pie. You simply move your cursor in the direction of piece you want and it becomes selected.

Sprocket Menus
Almost anything can be assigned to a Sprocket menu item. The menu items (up to 8 per menu) can do nearly any action, including:

  • Cast a spell
  • Use an item in your bags or inventory
  • Execute a macro
  • Use an action button
  • Target a unit
  • Open a sub menu
  • Execute custom slash commands or script commands

Additionally, each Sprocket menu can have a pre-action and a post-action assigned. For example, you could create a menu containing all of the buffs you can cast on others. Then, you could create triggers with a pre-action that targets the specified unit, and a post action that target's your last target. This would allow your to buff any party member, yourself, or your current target in one quick motion.

Using Sprocket
Sprocket contains a full featured GUI for configuring menus and triggers, including drag-n-drop for Spells, Items, and Macros. By default, there is a minimap icon for Sprocket which you can use to open the configuration pane. Additionally, you can type "/sprocket config".

Sprocket supports two methods of opening menus: Key Bindings and Mouse Clicks. Holding down a key binding will display a menu, and releasing that key will execute the selected action. (if any) The mouse behaves the same way, but works with clicks.

Key Bindings
Sprocket supports up to 8 different hotkeys. Each hotkey can display a different menu, depending on which frame the cursor is over. For example, you could set it up so that pressing "Q" anywhere in the 3D WorldFrame would open a menu of Buff spells. Selecting one would cast it on yourself. Hitting "Q" over the unit frame of one of your party members could open the same buff menu (or a different one) but be set up to cast the selected buff on that party member instead.

Mouse Clicks
A Sprocket menu can be opened by any of the 5 mouse buttons supported by WoW. You can assign it so that clicking on a frame with a certain button opens a certain menu. You can assign different buttons to open different menus. For example, you could set it up so that left-clicking on your player frame would open a menu of Buff spells. Selecting one would cast it on yourself. You could then set Right-clicking on your player frame to open a consumables menu, containing food, drinks, potions, etc... Selecting one would cause you to consume that item.

Changelog
0.9.6
* added support for global menus (accessible from all characters)

Re: bad news

Look at the date of the last update. Sprocket was never even updated for WoW 2.0 (the Burning Crusade), meaning it hasn't worked for almost two years.

Am I doing something wrong?

I installed Sprocket, but it won't load, and the AddOn manager says it's incomplete. Is there something else I'm supposed to install with this?

1st i have to say that i love this addon. I use it since the first Version was on the svn Server.
Its realy nice for my Pala, a class with much skills, so i used it for seals, auras, skills i rarely use, mounts, microbutts, pots etc.

So is there hope that Sprocket will be compatible with tbc oder is it completly blocked by blizz with the new lua, because i dont want to add 12-24 new buttons to my ui.

So lets pray for a tbc Sprocket Version

Like it, but some things I'd like to see changed

This is a great mod, and I can see it becoming hugely popular, but here are some little quibbles I have with it, that hopefully can be fixed in future.

1) The icons are too small, and the cog graphic surrounding them too large.
Please consider slimming down the cog graphics and increasing the center icon sizes.

2) Items in the menu are practically unusable as the item count number obscures the icon totally. Again, increase the icon size and have an option to not show item counts or move them off the icon.

more buttons

It would be nice to have more buttons on the wheel, 16 instead of 8 will be a good start.^^

enhancement ideas

First off, great mod. That said, some enhancement ideas:

* it would be nice if you could have a different circle menu depending on whether the unit frame clicked on was friendly or hostile (sure you can do the left click for friendly menu, right click for hostile menu thing, but it would be nice to have a standard click for all unit frames)

* it would be cool if you could have a keybinding for the 8 menu options after popping open a menu...for example, if no menu is open, then key 1 opens menu 1, key 2 opens menu 2, etc. But if a menu is open, then key 1 selects menu item 1, key 2 selects menu item 2, etc.

Note to anyone who lost their menus in the latest version:

The loss of menus appears to be some sort of side effect from adding the globals database using AceDB. I don't see any way to fix it at the moment unfortunately. On the bright side, I don't forsee any changes in the future that would cause this to happen again.

If you're adventurous, you can get your old menus in the new version by doing the following:
NOTE: make sure WoW in not running, or these changes will not work

1) Open your Realmname/Charactername/SavedVariables/Sprocket.lua file
2) Delete the entire ["global"] section. That's everything from ["global"] to ["chars"]. i.e.
["global"] <-- from and including this line
...
}, <-- to and including this line
["chars"]

3) Rename ["chars"] to ["global"]
3) Delete the line that says '["YourName of YourServer"] = {'
4) Scroll down to the very bottom of the file, and delete the first line from the bottom containing "},". i.e.

},
}, <-- this line
}

5) Save the file

When you launch WoW again, if you did everything right you should have your old menus and triggers back.

I finally found out that Sprocket in conjunction with SimpleMiniMap is the problem. As there are multiple minimap-mods, but only one sprocket, I trashed SMM and am happy now

Sprocket and Clique don't like each other this is what i get when i install both addons:

Error: AceModuleCore-2.0: OnInstanceInit cannot be called twice
AddOn: Sprocket
File:AceOO-2.0.lua
Line:733
--------------------------------------------------
Error: attempt to index field `totalModules' (a nil value)
File:...procket\Libs\AceModuleCore-2.0\AceModuleCore-2.0.lua
Line:117
--------------------------------------------------
Error: attempt to index field `totalModules' (a nil value)
File:...procket\Libs\AceModuleCore-2.0\AceModuleCore-2.0.lua
Line:164

Both are ace2 based, i already informed the author of clique about the issue...
