ShinyBuffs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.2.2a
by: Seerah [More]

Features:

  • skin buffs/debuffs
  • move buffs/debuffs
  • change colors, texures, and font
  • able to use class colors (with support for !ClassColors and CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS)
  • change size of buffs/debuffs independently
  • debuff icons are shaded by debuff type (temporary enchant icons shaded tench color, too)
  • option to display debuff type as border instead of icon shading **new
  • change the number of buffs per row
  • able to switch to all white duration text
  • option to show who your buff is from (only works with valid unitIDs, not some random passerby or guildie not in your party)
See the screenshots for some examples!

Limitations:
These are just the regular, old Blizzard buffs - but prettier! As such, you CAN cancel buffs during combat! However, you cannot rearrange the buffs, filter buffs, etc. The buffs/debuffs are also not movable independently - it's the standard layout, though you can change their sizes to make debuffs more visible in addition to changing where they're all anchored.

Also, the timer bar does not currently move for temporary enchants - it stays at 1. I may figure out a way to put that in in the future, but the API for temporary enchants isn't as friendly as that for normal buffs.

I wish this addon would let me separate the buffs / debuffs otherwise still have to use something to track those where i want to see them.

It's sad wow won't let you manipulate that0

ShinyBuffs does not allow you to drag the buffs themselves, only the anchor (displayed via the options window). You have another addon doing this.

There isn't an option, it "just works". If it's not, that's a bug. The icon is shaded by debuff type color.
In that case it's a bug. All the debuffs have the same greyish color for their border.

Very easy to use and nice BUFF addon!
But I have a small suggestion, can separate Buff and Debuff's Anchor? If so, then this addon is really perfect! (Please forgive my bad English)

Lightbulb Please make compatible with Shadow Unit Frames.

Hi Seerah.

I was hoping you would be able to make your add on compatible with Shadow Unit Frames please? I have asked the other author as well incase it is at their end and not yours or maybe a bit of both? Please let me know which end it is and I will focus my attention there. I have a feeling it will be their end but I await your reply and I hope you see this sooner rather than later? Thanks for such an awesome add on it is a beauty as is Shadow Unit Frames and it would mean a lot to me to have both working. I use to use it for a long time then went to X-perl where your add on has no problems at all. With Shadow Unit Frames I can move the frames but they default to the standard blizzard buffs etc. I prefer Shadow Unit Frames over x-perl by a lot.

Thanks in advance

The db variable isn't even on line 246 in ShinyBuffs.lua anymore. Update your copy first. In addition, the db variable is local to that file. That variable won't bother Titan Panel unless Titan uses a global variable by the same name. And I'm not even sure how anything ShinyBuffs does would effect whether or not Titan loads. Do you have a real error instead of whatever Titan tells you in the chat frame? (Make sure Lua errors aren't hidden in Interface Options or install BugGrabber/BugSack.)

If you drag the mover clear across the screen, the default UI code re-anchors them to that region of the screen. It actually makes sense.

Can't change the direction the buffs/debuffs grow without adding in a bunch of code for their anchoring/positioning. IMO, I may as well write custom buffs at that point instead of reusing the default. As I wrote under "Limitations"
These are just the regular, old Blizzard buffs - but prettier! As such, you CAN cancel buffs during combat! However, you cannot rearrange the buffs, filter buffs, etc. The buffs/debuffs are also not movable independently - it's the standard layout,...

Also, the anchor/mover seems to provide wrong x/y values. If I drag it in the upper left corner, x=10 and y=-10 which is surely wrong if you anchored the buffs top right.

And is there a way to set the starting point for growing the window? I.e. if I have the buffs anchored top left, I want additional buffs to be added to the right of the existing buffs, not to the left (basically make it so the buff window can grow up/down and left/right as per settings).

Thanks!
same problem

I have this too with my WoW install but it is not a problem with this addon.

Are the following two things true for you as well?
- When you disable this particular addon, the standard WoW UI also does not show duration text?
- The following command makes the duration text re-appear:

Code:
/script SHOW_BUFF_DURATIONS="1"
I've made a macro with the above script that I click every time I need to see the time. Haven't found an overall fix though. This is a problem with the generic WoW UI, not with a particular addon I believe.
Thanks for this. Since the option no longer exists in the UI, I might put it in ShinyBuffs itself.
